All Indians bashing smith should turn their anger towards Induan bowlers. Managed to grab only 1 wicket in the whole session and that too when number 9th was batting and in the top they got the new ball too.

Win is more important then a century and at this stage you want a century from someone. Really poor stuff.

I am just speculating here.

------

So it will be two sessions for Aus to bowl out Indians. Still possible if Aus can get 2-3 quick wickets early.

Bad luck for Marsh. Despite all the support from Smith , he got freaking run out on 99. If I am right, it would have been his first ton in Aus.

expected a good finish but the Aussies are being defensive, Smith is on Mathews mode today

Garbage cricket from both teams, if only there was a way both teams could lose.

Happy Marsh didn't get 100, didn't deserve it the way he played it on 99.

Lunch is extended by half an hour as Australia play on, lol.

209 balls. Feel sorry for the crowd tbh.

Well, he doesn't decide the time of declaration. It's Smith's call and Smith could have declared earlier. I do feel sorry for Marsh despite this negative cricket by Aus here. Not everyday you get to 99 and then get run out of all possible ways to get out.

It was a forced Declaration,Aus would have set a target of 400 in 50 odd overs

Marsh was only following the orders. Hate him is unjustified.
Would it have killed him to show some intent this morning? Your in the 80s and know a declaration is coming.

Even misbah would have been ashamed of the tuk tuk this morning

Rob Key tearing into Dhoni.

Says Dhoni should be the getting the roasting as they are 2-0 behind yet was placing patheric defensive field settings - looks happy to get a draw.

Congrats to AUS ppers Random Aussie , Convict , OZGOD , wrongun on winning the series.

He knew that a declaration was not coming. You can't blame him for Smith's decision.

Still not everything over...india can still loose here..they still need to play 70 overs!!!

Since it's impossible for Aus to lose, I recon Aus will attack and give all out for the first 20-30 overs. If India is down 3-4 wickets then there is a real chance for Aus.

Lol aus have a world class attack of johnson, harris, hazelwood & lyon playing at home.
They could have declared on 350-360 an hour ago.

But you watched it, that's the pulling power of the big three.
Meh, I had the TV on the background while I was on my ipad. Nothing on TV anyway, if there was, I sure as hell wouldn't have watched it.

Well there you go, the most interesting thing on TV in NZ was a Aus v Ind match.

Indian fans moaning about our declaration. Get us out for a change ya hacks!

This is the first time I have seen a team's fan so annoyed with the opposition captain not declaring so that their team could have a shot at the target loll. Aussies should be the one getting annoyed or neutrals cuz they wanted to see a contest but Indians whining is very laughable.

Funny thing is it was the negative captaincy from the Indian captain that prevented them from trying to force a win.

Exactly, India will look to draw this as well. He's happy with drawing

Than he has an IQ of 50. The whole world knew it was coming.

What do you mean by that?

Smith allowed Aus to play full session so Marsh obviously knew that Aus is not really trying to force a result here. Smith must have told him in advance. If he was not out on 99 at lunch , I don't think that smith would have declared. Marsh had all the time to score 100. You are unnecessarily picking on him for following Aus strategy.

Indians should be in mental hospital if they don't look to draw from this point. They should have tried to win earlier but not now.

Series is on the line, they may as well see how it goes and not shut down shop completely.

Dissapointing to see the most attacking cricket team in the last decade or two going for a draw.

Regardless - if Aus can pick up a few quick wickets they may still be in with a shout for a win. Meanwhile, if the likes of Kohl can get going - who knows what can happen!

Kohli will be the key batsman here, I would try to dismiss him early on in his innings by bowling a full-ish/yorker length in swinging delivery and try to either sneak through bat and pad for the bowled, or possibly rattle him on the pads for an LBW.

Kohli played the cover drive brilliantly in the first innings and if he sees a ball early on in his innings which he can drive, I can see him looking to pounce on it. If, however, it is a in swinger and Kohli isn't able to read it you are in with a real shout for a bowled through the gap or LBW.

It can be another thing that Kohli can have similar to Tendulkar - being bowled by a full length in swinging delivery on the first ball of his innings :akhtar As Wasim said to Akhtar in 1998 before he bowled Tendulakr - "iss ko andhar aati wi ball kara ni hai - yeh khelney pe chala gaye ga"

I'm just going to go and continue filling in my application to be the Pakistani coach now :dav

Nothing is on at moment. No team tries to chase run a ball kind of equation if total is close to 400. You can compile a batting line up of ATGs and and I don't think they will be able to come close as well.

It's a one day kind of equation with around 400 runs with no field restrictions. Bowling unit is pretty good as well.

Aus/clarke used to be very sportive, agressive ,they almost always look to go for the win/result and not forced a draw and make the game competitive, subcontinent team are generallly very defensive, kinda boring so this was expect by dhoni to play for the draw but unexpect by the aussies that is why everyone is quite upset,if even aussies begin to play this kind of cricket test cricket is going to be repulsive.

Murali vijjay has a 127* in IPL, Dhawan is an attacking player, no need to mention anything about Kohli, Dhoni can be devastating as well. We are gotta game on our hands folks :snack:

Why don't I ever look at what I'm typing ? :bash:

I dont mind them going for it tbh.
Dhawan, kohli, rahane need to play aggressively.
The question is will aus continue to have attacking fields if india have a good start.

I hate to see a lame draw here.

Go for the draw and ensure that they aren't whitewashed or go for the win and risk losing the series?

Decisions for India

I can bet my house that Aus will continue to attack no matter how Indians are playing. Too many runs with not so many overs.

No way Indians will get even close here. If India tries to attack then it will be the best chance for Aus. Idnia lost 8 wickets in one session so Aus is still in the game if Aus picks up 2-3 wickets in the first session.

Going for the win is foolish here.
As buffet said a great team of atg's would also probably fail in chasing this target down in 70 overs.

rahul should be given a extended run in the home series and develop him for the overseas series

Yes generally they play defensive cricket,if the large majority of the matchs begin to be draws(not talking about some good competitive draws) test cricket is not gonna be really attractive for many. This is one of the reasons there are so few people following test cricket in asia and not much crowd for it.LOI is another story.
