That's why Lara imo was amazing never has problem concentrating and scoring big.

Our batsmen nowadays can never score really big.

India still well in front- but if Oz can drag another one out before the new ball then Oz will be right back in the game.

Rohit , Dhoni , Ashwin still to come .
I saw only Ashwin over there i'm pretty sure Ishant would score more than Rohit. Our tail falls for 50 runs usually so if they manage to score even 300 i would be happy

Haha well spotted by CI.

Ganguly scored 144 too at the Gabba back in 2003. Good times.

Nothing to take away from Dada he was amazing there but that was slightly flatter track than this one if i remember correctly.

Lets see if Starc could go through one of the weakest tails in test cricket if not he needs to be dropped.

Also, that game was dead because of the rain.

Going at 3.61. Not good enough with showers predicted. We need to be going at 4..

India closing in on a 300+ day 1 score at Gabba. Will only be the second visiting ever to do so.

Alright, India becomes the team after many decades to register 300+ on day 1, Gabba.

Well done guys!

9 overs left.. India should post 330 plus.

Noticed the averages again. Rahane in early forties like Kohli. Rohit has fallen from 50 to 46. Rahane and Kohli really need to score daddy hundreds when they get in or they will end up with an average in forties.

Blessen Varghes: "Mohandas Menon tweets: India now the only 2nd visiting team (after W Indies in Dec 1960) to score 300+ on opening day of a Test match at Gabba since 1931." And 1931 - in case you're wondering why that date features so frequently in Mr. Menon's tweets - was the year they first played Tests at the Gabba.

They don't knock out oppositions like Pujara.

You need big hundreds atleast 150 to do that.

Hope they do it this series. They are in good touch while Pujara is scratchy.

Goes to show how important Rahane's dismissal was in the last Test at that critical stage.
India has been unlucky this series.

ICC should simply allow third umpire to correct howlers rather than allowing players all these tactical decisions about taking DRS . You get two shots at it within 80 overs. That's not really about removing howlers then. I don't get it why it has been made so complicated with players choosing to review and then umpires calls and all that non-sense. Just watch replays and it's enough to get rid of howlers. For closer calls, let it be umpire's call. For this, you don't need any fancy tech.

I have the same opinion. There should be no advantages to a team that knows how to use technology better.

311/4 at stumps .

Arguably the best firstday score by a touring team @Gabba ?

Don't know about that but it's one of the better efforts from touring side at Gaba on the first day.

Impressive!

450 is tough. Don't expect much from Rohit. Dhoni and Ashwin can get 50 runs between them. 400-420 is likely if India don't get blown away early on.

Agreed. Cricket is not about who can use the tech better. That's not the purpose of DRS.

India really should make 600 here, the whole pace attack looks injured.

Might be lyon and watto for large chunks, until watto rips something that is.

If these two can bat for another 15 overs then you guys will get to 450 or even 500. I think Aus will put their best effort in the first session before they feel the heat again.

Johnson needs to pick up few in the morning.

Great day for India. Two set batsmen at crease, score above 300 already. Murali's majestic ton! :14:
