What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 1

He made his debut in Adelaide.

10, 34* and 71. Not that bad a start to a career for a young bloke. Especially given how good the South African pace attack is.
He didn't look great in that 71.

I wasn't paying close attention to the match, but whenever I did get a look, he was playing and missing or edging it through to the slips.

Think they should keep coming around the wicket to Handscomb and bowl full at the stumps

He's been picked early because Marsh is injured and he is a highly rated talent.

Not surprised to see Rahat leaking runs like sieve.

Get Smith out soon and we'll be in a decent position.

Australia should look to accelerate so they can have 20 overs at Pakistan tonight.

Real Test for Handscomb to face Amir, Wahab and Yasir. He bashed trundlers like Phillander and Abott, now to face the real bowlers :amir

He's the reason Smith is now striking at about 60. took a long time to get to double digits.

Rather unorthodox technique from Handscomb. Could get him out hit wicket ?

Brilliantly tight bowling.

The reduced scoring rate is making it very hard for Australia to declare and bowl tonight.

Australia playing at 1.4 RR for a quick declaration. :daynightlogic :yk

This technique has become a lot more common in club cricket. I guess it helps in aligning yourself with the ball, stops your head from falling to either side.

Bairstow is similar.

amir bowling dry is such a useless strategy thats why you should play Imran Khan and let him do the donkey work while you attack with Amir and Wahab

39 dots in a row for Amir. Not making the batsman play?

Bowling extremely tightly. Shah has also bowled 100 dot balls in just 22 overs. Riaz is another who has been very disciplined but dangerous. Rahat Ali needs to step up.

Australia will score atleast 500 runs. Our bowling does not have ability to take quick wickets

Handscomb is easy to watch

he has already played 50 balls for that 15 but you won't get that feeling

Looks very busy player

Good going. If Rahat doesn't release the pressure, something might give away for Australia.

I wouldn't have bowled him at this time. On top of that Misbah has brought Azhar Ali.

yup wasting his energy by bowling negatively appalling bowler.

How biased can one be. This is the same guy who finds an excuse to leave Amir out of all his 11s so no need to take him seriously.

That would've been such an important wicket right before the session ended. Bloody Sarfraz

Poor keeping. Easy chance to a spinner. Middle of the gloves and out again.

Shame, because he's a good batsman Sarfraz.

its been 8 matches since his return and his output is woeful he is very lucky the rest of the pacers are rubbish otherwise he deserves to warm the benches .

Not watching but just saw the scorecard. 26 overs of spin out of the bowled in the first 2 sessions at Gabba? Not the usual Gabba track?

Rahat at his best.Good for nothing. This Pakistani pace attack is pretty average.I am surprised why Rahat was chosen before Sohail? I am not a fan of Mickey.Injamam should totally reorganize the pace attack of Pakistan.Wahab and Rahat should be replaced immediately.Aamir and Sohail's performance should be under rader. In batting, this should be the last chance of Younis, Misbah and Asad.Otherwise, believe me within a year or two Pakistan will find them at no 6 in test ranking .

Fully agree!!! But Inzamam is a clueless selector and persist with failures.

You are in it!

You've kept the score down, and play will resume under lights!

Really good tight bowling that last hour.

Pakistan really bowled tight this session, but that wicket would have put Pakistan on top. You cannot drop their best batsman, they was simple catch 🙄

Really!!

Ball is around 60 overs old. So an easy peesy 20 over passage where Aussies will do really bad to lose a wicket

Pak looking good, looks like Amir and Yasir have bowled well, can't wait to go home and see the match.Smith as usual getting a 50

Australia have pretty much batted us out of the game already. Our only chance of winning was to restrict them to ~250, because I don't see us scoring in excess of 300.

Flat bowling and shoddy fielding as usual.

This game is already done for pak. Aussies nearing 200 with only 3 down. Pak won't score more than 200 here in either innings.

Game over

That's the positive attitude we've come to know and love.

England might be the best place to watch Test cricket, but nothing beats the atmosphere/crowd of Australia.

Junaids is more keen to see Pakistan win than Misbah himself.

300 is max we can afford. So we need to make massive inroads in the next session and honestly it is beyond this mediocre attack.

Nah I prefer tests in england and One days in Aus. Tests in Aus can be a bit flat at times

also NZ is pretty good to watch all formats
