What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 4

Aussies are going to take thins Goal Keeper in India!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly.

While Peter Nevill is a really tidy keeper.

Plus I can imagine Wade starting a riot in India.

Can we have update from the Opus Dei gang on his many runs we will lose by and when will it be over.

The drainage system in Brisbane is excellent.

Do not think much overs will be lost , if lost at all.

If we get lucky and gets rained off day today. We just may be just save this test match, generally day 4 -5 pitch becomes flatter and flatter in Australia lately, because they are drop in pitches.

I hope these two don't have to start again

They were pretty set but now they'll have to get back in again when they return

He has a poor match. One more poor match and he should rightfully feel pressured

What the locals say - any chance of further play today?

The Gabba dries out quickly.

But I'm looking out to the West from my upstairs window and it's light gray (rain) rather than dark black (storms) that is coming through behind.

The weather forecast is rain til 5.30, cloudy but dry beyond.

The worst is due in forty minutes from now.

100 azhar
100 younus
40 misbah
50 shafiq
50 sarfraz
20 amir
10 yasir
10 wahab
5

385-10 all out pakistan loses by 105 runs

The hail they are showing from 1992-93, that was Keith Arthurton's Test - 157 not out.

I somehow got a feed at my hotel in Papeete, Tahiti. I couldn't believe my luck.

Need to make 100 runs today somehow.

We will obviously make more. At least 65 more overs in the day. Even if rain takes 15 of those we will make around 120 in the remaining 50. Wickets are more important. Can't lose more than 1 today no matter what. If we don't lose more than 1 wicket today then records will be broken. Huge "if" though considering the second new ball under lights, overcast etc.

Nice to see the boys having a laugh in the dressing room, you can't accuse these guys of not having a wonderful team spirit

hahahahaha Vaughan with the surgical strikes against Warne :)))

This next session is decisive. Australia won't be feeling any nerves at all right now. In they're minds they've already won

Yeah blame the weather and atmospheric conditions now! We didn't do any good to beginwith in our first innings

I don't understand what's the big deal here for Pakistan. Just play on merit and don't do too many fishing outside off-stumps and you be fine. Pakistan giving too much respect to this bowling attack, hopefully first test will be a wake up call for us. I expect a good comeback from Pakistan in the next game. MCG is better pitch more like Asian pitches we might do well there. Pakistan need to the fear away if they want to win here. Follow SA last tour example.

Where are you watching this?

Ptv sports has non stop ads about Quetta gladiators :))

BT Sport, I expected the worst but I've been pleasantly surprised by their coverage. They've got Vaughan, Swann and Marcus North in the studio and actually try to talk about the cricket in between banging on about the Ashes. Generally not a fan of Vaughan but it's been nice listening to Swann talk about Yasir and Lyon.

What'd he say?

He was talking to the reporter they have in Australia and he reminded her of all the abuse Warne gave to Cook for not enforcing the follow on, then wondered why he had been so quiet about the Aussies not making Pakistan bat again. :13:

Hah! Vaughan is a cheeky little bugger.

Misbah better start get his bowling planning right here for next game. In Australia if you are not brave in your field setting and batting approach you will suffer and will be humiliated. Next game either play nawaz or asghar in the next game and get sarfraz to open the inning by dropping sami, he is not learning the fact once you faced over 40 deliveries you don't get out like that. Plus opening with keeper will give another allrounder a place in the team.

They are showing Gilly's Hobart miracle from 1999-2000 on Channel Nine.

Day 2 saw Waqar's Final great spell in Test cricket.

Take it easy bro.

Pakistan have it all to do. Will have to restart afresh post break and potentially under lights.
Admirable grit so far. Teams of the late 90's would have folded easily by now.

We hv to win the toss and bat first in MCG for us to give a bit of scare to Aussies, same in Sydney as well for that matter. Losing the toss and letting Aussies score more than 300 in first innings would mean we are already behind in the game and we wd hv to really play out of our skin to challenge Aussies.

We really have bad luck!!! Every time we are doing better than it's come with injuries, rain, bad weather, rain interruption, run outs, wrong decisions and so on!!! Now we have to win play more overs under light

Nicks to slips , lbw , bowled etc.

U don't agree the fact sami need dropping. Pakistan if they play 5 bowlers they might win the next game to save the series.

Not even in the wildest of my dreams.Azhar and sami ain't as bad as you are making them look. They average around 55 runs as a pair which is unbelievable for our openers and there is absolutely no rationale in it to disturb this pair. Only thing that needs to change is their approach. One of them has to play with a bit of intent and look to score at a better rate and it's Sami Aslam who has start doing it now more than Azhar coz now we know Azhar is a bit limited in that regard while Sami on the hand has in him to play at a strikr rate of 55-60 and he's able to that then this pair can really become a force to reckon. Azhar Ali is the Anchor and th other batsmen should around him.

Where I live an hour south of the ground the rain has stopped and bright sunshine is behind.

Having said that, it's almost 4pm (Queensland time) so there is less Sun than usual to dry the pitch up.

I'm wondering about a 5 pm resumption, which would mean 30 overs lost today.

We can make up around 7/8 overs after the official end of play

Only to 8.30 pm, which every day has done.

I think they might struggle with the second storm west of Brisbane though.

So there is an inspection due at 4 pm, but a second storm due to hit around that time.

Mate...Are you at the ground ??

Haan jee boss, kya surat-e-haal hai..

Lagta hai boys played well type scene honay wala hai.

Just came back home after a night out with the boys and seems like we have done well today..

Rain rain don't go away

Junaids bhai has told us that there is a second storm coming up in Brisbane :yk but going by how him and Mamoon predict anything related to cricket......Am not really too confident at the moment :rahat

Hope for rain all day

Though a collapse on the last day in the last session could easily happen

You cannot control the toss , you can control how you play.

4.20 pm resumption means 20 overs lost of which eight can be recouped tomorrow.

Still more rain to the west, but the second storm has veered north towards Bribie Island.

Apparently instead of extending from 8 pm to 8.30 pm, they will play through till 9.30 pm.

So potentially no overs lost.

this is bad news we could have whittled this down to 240 needed by night session.
more importantly we needed all the day time batting practice we could get for the next game
