What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 4

You are bringing QA Final example to compare with the intensity of a Gabba Test where Azhar & YK is trying to bat out for 2 days against hosts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Pak domestic players rate the QeA as much as Junaids :))

Azhar must be kicking himself - got out in between 3 overs!!!!

Still there is time Azhar - retire for ODI game; that poke was only because of playing for a single, out of your core strength; you'll lose the Test spot in 2 years time......

very unazhar shot that was....pak is destroyng him by backing him in loi/..

As if odds are not already stacked against Pakistan's favor, they have to stop and restart . . secondly, its in the night with moisture in the air . . and thirdly, reading some of the PPers posting that the timings will get extended later into the night? that is soo unfair for Pakistan . . you don't wanna play at night let alone play to save a test match and play extended hours . . don't think they've figured out D/N test matches yet . .

Misbah has gotta be the WORST advert for the game of cricket, he has ZERO marketing appeal. Personally I've not seen a more sluggish and lethargic human being let alone a sportsman in my life.

His core game is built on patience, discipline & avoiding risky shots - not much of a stroke maker, but extremely effective. Now, Arthur has given him ultimatum that you can't open with 40/70 stats in ODI - you have to take that to 80+ level, be it for the cost of 35 ... only way to do that is rotation of strike & increase shot productivity (reduce dots), because he is not a stroke maker, who can increase SR by hitting boundaries. Players can learn, but can't change their batting philosophy at 35. This is just the beginning for Azhar ....

A classic example at the highest level is Kohli - his game is built on rotation, shot productivity & being busy - Test, ODI, T20 - any where you bog him down at 5th stick line without allowing to cut, he'll give a chance. Most ODI wickets these days are granted for 300, hence he is getting away with it most times, but it did cost him an English tour. Now, if he tries to change his game & become Rahul Dravid - his both boat will sink.

My boss must be scratching head now - 2 out of 13 has gone to 3 out of 14 ......... he'll send couple of packs of candle to St. Paul's Cathedral if this old guy somehow touches one outside off ........

YK in his 16 year long career has only been stumped once!

:four thought that was out for a second!

azhar has played some valuable innings in tests and we need his patience badly...i will higlight his 92 in eng.157 against eng in uae 57 in taht tour..hundred in famous chase.,141 in eng.91 not out against wi although that didnt help....which one u highly rate?

played for south australia..he is on of the great of the game....dont judge him through pp..

True, but he is 43 - no one can beat age. However, I think it other-way - PAK doesn't play enough Test - the sort of reflex & guts he is showing at this age, had he played a series of 12-15 Test years between 2005 to 2013; probably would have been touching Tendulkar by now, by volume.

Remarkable endurance.

AA got out at the worst possible time, just when you thought Pakistan has some sorta control on the proceedings of the game with some application in the middle, one of them throws it away to a harmless delivery, this is what frustrates me the most about Pakistan batsmen, they get carried away easily after a few boundaries and start poking and prodding at nothing deliveries bringing their demise.

91* - he could play the cut shot then :(

Isn't he 39?

34% target reached, only 30% resources (wicket) spent - so Project Charter should be green.........

sorry he was out on that ocassion...i rate his 57 on defficult dubai pitch but his 92 at oval as well.

I am talking about his Oval innings - can't recall if it was 91 or 92....... No wicket in UAE is difficult - it's just boring - survival is possible if you are ready to sacrifice some of your professional pride as a stroke maker. You don't know what Ashwin will do there with bat, or our Mahmudullah - batsman, who doesn't count runs, rather counts how many balls they have played.

but the 57 he scored was on a very defficult pitch....u have to see the heighlits....yes 92 at oval was special knock and that was his trademark innings..

I am a big fan of Imran Khan - I use his filter.............

that doesnt apply in misbah case rest is ok.... apply to mine age as well..infact 90 percent of my medical school classmats..even mmost of them well be from midddle and upper class.

Lyon has certainly made YK uncomfortable in that over, you could see the nerves, would be bemusing if Lyon manages to pick him up in the next over, need to play out this phase.

I have a question to a particular corner - against pace or bounce YK really looks ugly at the start,so we make lots of fun of him, which is fine; but compared to what Poms are doing against spin (or what Warner 'll do in 3 months time), YK looks like a show jumping stallion against spin - why it's always projected as he is opportunist against spin. I honestly do believe that, apart from few wickets like the Hobart one, playing spin on a turner is the real differentiation these days - Poms lost 10/63 in a session to our rookie boy & we are happy to forget that.

As I posted yesterday, Sarfraz should have come in before Misbah and Shafiq. I thought Misbah would get 2 off 30 balls, but it was 5 off 34.

What a poor dismissal :(

They put in a short leg and he nicked a 5th stump line delivery that never deviated to the keeper

Misbah as expected nicks one, I think its safe to say he's done and dusted, should sit out for the remainder of the series.

Misbah doesn't look interested in batting anymore. YK tbh is still giving what he is got.

Hopefully this is Misbah last series. Even when he's been fielding he just hasn't looked up to the mark.
