What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 4

that doesnt apply in misbah case rest is ok.... apply to mine age as well..infact 90 percent of my medical school classmats..even mmost of them well be from midddle and upper class.

Misbah debuted in Test 2001, as an MBA. In South Asian education system, minimum that you can show is 14 years at your St. 10. + 2 years for St. 12, + 2 years at least for graduation + 2 years for MBA & and around 1 years in between (you don't start MBA the next day of your BA final). I am not sure, if he has done MBA after BA 92 years) or Honors (4 years) - I take the lower one (mine was 5 years because I completed Electrical engineering)

Now, minimum Misbah can be in 1998 is 14+2+2+2+1 = 23 ....... that was exactly his age, when he debuted in FC cricket in 1998 - you make your mind, I have done mine.

If the PCB don't intervene.

He will be 43 years comes the next series. He has been a great leader when it comes to uniting a team without any groupism after a very long time but his batting is not the same anymore.

The PCB want him to play until 2018...

Junaids - Boss, where are you. Do you honestly believe that fat, cheap shot guy, who doesn't have balance of his own life, can show this sort of application & determination at highest level, if he is take at 5 for Test team?

i have a question to a particular corner - against pace or bounce yk really looks ugly at the start,so we make lots of fun of him, which is fine; but compared to what poms are doing against spin (or what warner 'll do in 3 months time), yk looks like a show jumping stallion against spin - why it's always projected as he is opportunist against spin. I honestly do believe that, apart from few wickets like the hobart one, playing spin on a turner is the real differentiation these days - poms lost 10/63 in a session to our rookie boy & we are happy to forget that.

potw...

Hopefully shafiq and Sarfaraz can hang around to get younis his century

He will have a century in every country then

poor knock by younis khan , too edgy against the quick bowlers and against spinners ( he is supposed to be good against them) he gets out trying to get runs.

Game could be over today

I said before the start of this series. This team won't get more than 200 in any innings

Yaar, tune keya kiya.

Project charter RED................

This is a lovely batting pitch.

In my opinion, Misbah and Younis both need to be retired. Misbah averages 22.10 outside Asia in his last ten innings while Younis, who was always a classier batsman, has lost his consistency.

I recognise that Shafiq has lost it psychologically too.

Is the question whether Umar Akmal would have thrown it away here?

Probably. But Misbah is no longer capable and Younis just threw it away.

I suspect that Umar Akmal would have made 20 in the first innings and 80 in the second innings here. Which is more than Younis and Misbah combined.

For the record, in four innings here Younis and Misbah have contributed 74 runs.

How did you randomly pluck the 80 figure?

It's kinda depressing that this is probably as well as we can bat in these conditions but we are still 175-5

I agree on Misbah, besides he is costing as a Captain now. But, PAK's next away Series in 2018 summer - till than YK should be with the team. Players like Babar, Sami & few others need a mentor in the team with guts & friendly attitude.

I wrote it several times that, had it been just eastern side of Waga gate, it would been smoothly settled - YK resting from ANZ tour for personal reasons, without retiring & PCB recalling him for WI, BD & UAE tours. Finally YK retires, after Jan 2018 UAE season is finished. His last innings in UK is 218 - he'll be happy to keep that intact & retire with 10K+ runs & 35 hundreds.

Younis khan the walker he always has been should not hv left the crease. By the look on Ian Goulds face it seemed he wasn't sure whether Younis had hit it on not plus Aus had exhausted both their reviews.

Ladies and Gents fasten your seat belts and gets ready for Sarfaraz Classic of 40 of 40 balls...

Umar Akmal tends to score quickly in these circumstances and then infuriate me by getting out when he is set.

My thoughts and ideas are no secret.

I think in Australia the openers should have been Aslam and Butt, with Azhar at 3, Babar at 4 and Umar Akmal at 5 and Asad Shafiq at 6. Except, perhaps, the Pink Ball Test where I'd have omitted Umar Akmal or Shafiq as well as Rahat so that I could have Sarfraz at 6, Aamer Yamin at 7 and Hasan Ali at 8.

People here in Australia laugh at Graham Gooch and Mike Gatting touring here in 95-96 and Colin Cowdrey coming here in 74-75.

But Misbah and Younis are older than all of them.

Umar Akmal tends to score quickly but get out even quicker

So I'd say you should revise your 80 prediction. He can probably make a 30 if he gets going on a good day

Convict - I think, AUS should pick 5 bowlers in IND than 6 batsmen. If the opening pair don't make it 5 down by 60, IND 'll bat once. One extra batsmen doesn't matter much, if Aussies are to face 450+ against 3 spinners. Only chance is to blast IND for ~250 & bat positively - in slow burning game, hardly any team has a chance to win after 15 session Test in India.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Marsh brothers in for India with Khawaja (who couldn't even pick Azhar at the Gabba) and Maddinson out.

1. Warner
2. Renshaw
3. Smith*
4. S.Marsh
5. Handscomb
6. Wade/Nevill+
7. M.Marsh
8. O'Keefe
9. Starc
10. Hazlewood
11. Lyon

imo

sharjeel.

Sharjeel has precisely zero safe scoring shots on the front foot outside off-stump.

He might fluke one or two boundaries cutting or pulling short balls before Hazlewood and Bird and Starc start feeding him a non-stop diet off full deliveries outside off-stump.

if yk remains with the team he will play and there is no point in playing against westindies zimbabwe and srilanka. These series ahould be used to prepare the young ones so when the away series arrives they are ready and not making there debut.

Nah, he can play offside shots quite comfortably.

I dont mind it really , he might score a quick 50. Shafiq has been on a long failure streak. He needs to come good in this innings.

Boss, in last 4 years, Umar's highest innings in a game with slip fielders is 103, made at less than run a ball, in the state of the art QA style. Now, he is not here & you are expecting him to score 80 in a D/N test against Josh.

I am a bit disappointed with you here - if you are to put a figure, enlarge your heart - why 80? why not 280? That could have easily won the Test chasing 490.......

Lyon being put into his place........

A mediocre spinner at best to be honest !!

I think he'd have been and gone before dark! :)

I'm just very conscious not just of Umar Akmal's Test record in Australia, but also his A Test record here. He likes the extra pace and bounce.

^^ But, I agree with your 2nd part. Of them all, I saw Viv's last tour - he was out 2 or 3 times pulling Hughes & Reid (& Dodamaide I guess). Misbah & YK at 4/5 in AUS actually won't work. Since Misbah is Cuptan, I wished YK to have a short break.

Next away tours
Pakistan in england 2018
Pakistan in South Africa 2018
Pakistan in Australia and Newzealand 2019/20
SO MORE PHANITY COMING UP
