What's new

Australia v Pakistan | 1st Test | Brisbane | Dec 15-19, 2016 | Day 4

The last 50+ 7th wicket stand in Australia was by Amir and Manzoor at Hobart in 2010.

Why would you hit four on the last ball? Now Amir will have to bat for the whole over.

Aussies will start to get a bit fidgety if these carry on at 5 an over till the end of the day.

3 runs by Amir Lara. Looks like Rahat won't have to score a century if Amir gets his double century.

Azad Shafiq needs to get out now so Rahat could get his match winning century.

Amir can be a perfectly competent lower order bat if he puts his mind to it.

Highest score for Amir in test cricket. 59 more needed for a century.

If Pakistan need 150 runs tomorrow with 4 wickets in hand. What are the odds for a victory?

Lol RR for this partnership is 5+. So we should be able to chase this down within a session tomorrow.

Does anyone know how many overs they've done with this ball? I'm just wondering when the new ball will be due?

You have to say, Amir's innings tells us an awful lot about Younis scratching his way to 65, and even more about Misbah's double failure.

You need young eyes and young reflexes in Australia. Ask Sachin Tendulkar!

Only 23 overs old.

57 overs from a third one. But it's not going to happen!

Yes it tells us that we need Salman Butt and Umar Akmal in the batting order. We've heard that enough by now.

If 1 or 2 of our top order played well we could have won this test. Batting, defensive field place and poor catching cost us many matches

Yeah, Pakistan is only going to lose by 140 or so runs!

Oh yaar enjoy the moment. Mamoon ka bhai na bano. Yes they will probably lose but this is a brilliant fightback and will make Australia think for the next match and not believe its their god given right to whitewash Pak again at home.

Well we're gonna have to stick with Younis for the next two matches. So if he can "scratch" his way to a few more scores like that I'll gladly take it.

Even though we will most likely lose This match but who cares, i couldn't ask for any better entertainment on my birthday, love you both shafiq and amir, just tease the hell out of aussies, made them work their app of for the win.

Australia really struggle too with a 4 man attack, because Lyon isn't good enough to bowl as many overs as Yasir Shah.

Pakistan is not out of this series yet. They will lose here, but every extra over they make Hazlewood and Starc bowl is a bonus.

321 runs. He's going to somehow score 321 more runs before retiring. Hopefully he gets 321 in this series and not only gets to the 10K mark but also helps us win a historic test series and retires gracefully

I'd have settled for Mohammad Hafeez and Aamer Yamin in place of Younis and Misbah at this ground. Two extra bowlers would have reduced the load on Amir and Wahab and let them bowl quicker in shorter spells.

And they'd only need 74 runs between them to outdo Younis and Misbah.

He was the 2nd best Indian bat in that series, averaging almost 36 not good for sure but defn better than what Ponting had in India, not sure why you keep bringing in Sachin to compare to Younis,Dravid is a better match(who btw retired after that series)

No more Akmal. This guy can not even play well in BPL against average pacer or spinner. How on earth he can perform against Australia in Australia.

Salman Butt is too old and not any more long term solution.

Shafiq getting too flashy now, needs to be careful and not give it away, they have Aussies rattled.

Get the target bellow 100 and then see what happens.

For once I'm not criticising Sachin here.

I'm saying that a 38 year old ATG Sachin in Australia achieved much less than he did when he toured at the age of 18.

It's hard to adapt to the faster pace and sharper lift here. And older players just struggle.

And I don't see how Pakistan dared to believe that a 42 year old Misbah and 43 year old Younis would do better than a 38 year old Sachin.

Especially when Starc and Hazlewood are a big upgrade on Hilfenhaus and Siddle.

Salman Butt is the same age as Azhar Ali.
