I supported him till England tour but he's been terrible in ODIs. He's a star in Tests and where he should focus on.

Babar Azam isn't some golden boy, just another player. But defending Azhar Ali and Misbah (in ODIs) while slacking one of the most promising batsman from a country which produces batsmen of poultry calibre is pure bullsh.

Don't be shocked when people get called out for it.

Babar himself doesn't have the most amazing power game. But neither do Kohli or Root. What he can do is try to be a player who can score dobules and singles at will and can slide in a four to keep a 100+ strike rate like Kohli. Altho whether he can or not remains to be seen.

Its a big favor to us when you play half your innings at a strike rate of 60... and end up with a strike rate of 90.. but get out when your main job has to be done... he should become immortal now

guptill and sharma's batsman-ship is actually of a very high quality so its ridiculous to club them with sharjeel or hales for that matter

He whitewashed Windies as a captain...helped us qualify for CT 2017... was the reason he was persisted with..

England the whole team was pretty bad, but we managed to chase 300 in the end...

Aus was the end of the line, as I predicted it would be for him if he didn't perform...

It honestly doesn't matter what you do as a captain as long as you score as a batsman to be honest.. this is the culture Pakistan belongs too.

Azhar has been decent as captain, its just the whole team is pretty bad

Indeed. Which is why they're both rivalling Hobbs and Gavaskar as test batsmen.

If such logic is the case, then Umar Akmal too is a batsman of the utmost highest calibre.

So you don't count Babar's performances against West Indies, infact you take away his 100's vs WI when it comes to his average in every debate, yet here you are waxing lyrics about Azhar by bringing up the whitewash vs WI. The whitewash which was largely helped by Babar.

Have some shame and show SOME objectivity.

Want to add that I'd rather see Rohit and Guptill bat in full flow than Root, Kane or Smith at their best. Both are just something else when in full flow and can hit some glorious sixes.

I get it he scored a century... but people in his defence say 'he is young' which honestly pisses me off.. this excuse doesn't come up for anyone else, alot of people have debut'ed for Pakistan.. when you reach International stage, whether you are young, or old, your performance is equal.. you both have the same responisbility as 9 others in the team..

This rate is not on.. if you want to anchor, anchor it correctly.. getting out after reaching a 100 is as criminal as getting someone else out by playing slowly to get to into a respectable score for yourself

for longest time (Eng tour, wi series) PP hipsters wanted him to replace 'slow, can't-handle-pressure' Sarfaraz and couldnt help but cry on the injustices being meted out to Rizwan and how a potential world class player was not being played due to 'karachi quota'

Yes yes... Babar was star of the series... We are talking about Azhar's captaincy here..

People also forget about Azhars 100 in the final game... that didn't make much news either..

He's been very poor as a batsman for most people

I am reminded almost everyday about Babar's 3 100s against WI...and he is once in a generation talent

Even you could lead PAK to 3-0 against that WI lot - 10 men was more than enough.

Regrading your last line, I actually think exactly opposite - kick out Azhar, MoHa, Rizwan & Wahab, if required Malik as well - pick Sarfy as Captain & Amir as deputy; pick proper replacements for those 5/6 - still it's quite a decent unit.

Despite Azhar as Captain & those ancient lot - this is probably the best effort by a touring side in AUS since 2012 & surprisingly, Aussies picked their possible best attack for the bi lateral.

I agree with you to the extent that Azhar's time is up... this was bound to happen eventually.. Pakistani ODI captaincy is always the biggest talking point in cricket's history.. more than even Test Matches...

Its in ODI where Misbah was bashed, and its in ODIs where Afridi was loved by everyone in the 2011 world cup..

However its also the most controversial, everyone knows captain can do little to motivate a team that has dejected shoulders..

Younis KHan had to leave captaincy despite reaching the semi final of 2009 edition of CT.. and won you the WC t20

Its always the most controversial, most conspired upon, and the most gossiped about by the TV experts..

Malik was popularly removed from captaincy 1- 1.5 years into his tenure and the 'rebuilding phase' scrapped after the WC 2007

This Azhar story is nothing new

Whitewash involves the team... cannot be done by one player..

Azhar was the captain so the credit goes to him,

Infact the star of the series was Imad and not Babar...

Our scores were sub 300 in all 3 ODIs..

If not for Imad, maybe these totals could've been chased down

If not for Babar's centuries our 'sub 300' scores would have been 150, Imad would have been able to done diddy squad.

You're a little hypocrite is what you are. Every debate you have gone on about demeaning the WI by saying Babar's 100s should not count because they came against the WI and here you are championing Azhar's captaincy against those same opponents.

The hypocrisy is mind-numbing. He is saying our batting made low scores which were defended by Imad, forgetting that had it not been for Babar's 3 centuries ten Imads would not have been able to defend any score. He has also again and again dismissed Babar's averages commenting that his 3 100's against the Windies should not count as they came aagainst a poor opponent, yet Azhar's captaincy against the same opponents count? And that too largely because of Babar Azam's batting success? :))

I never said its a big achievement on Azhar's part... but its an OK achievement..

I said he whitewashed WI... I didn't say he whitewashed WI which is a once in a generation achievement.. I mentioned his other achievements as captain..

Its a hard pill to swallow for you, but Azhar was captain in that series...

However if you're bitter that I didn't praise Babar for that... I did at the time the series was played, however since then we are looking at a pretty selfish Babar Azam, who is error prone, scoring 30s and 40s.. and when he gets to a 100 we see the team and the chase being compromised for his personal gains..

If this was a knock played in the first innings it was fine..

But this was played when the chase was on.. Smith allowing easy singles if boundaries weren't being hit.. big difference in being selifhsh and playing for the team
