Australia vs England | Semi Final 2, World Cup | Edgbaston | 11th July, 2019 | Australia innings

Australians are aliens in World Cup, as close as to we will find a superhuman group.

True no matter how they perform in bilateral but everytime there is World Cup you can bet your house they will endup in Final.

Australia played 7 World Cup Finals out of the 11 and won 5 of them...

Against Australia i would have played another spinner.

Australia batted very well against Chahal & Kuldeep. 117 from 114 balls with the loss of Maxwell and Warner, and warner was troubled mainly by seamers. Hopefully Aussies can bash Rashid

They are all the same. In terms of funky technique closer to Dhoni. Surviving is a skill. Not everybody is good at it. Kohli is a very poor survivor.

Smith had to work incredibly hard to find a technique to survive. Once he found that , he was always going to be unstoppable.

Well Bilateral ODIs lost their prestige ever since T20 WC and leagues were introduced, now ODI WC is even more prestigious than ever. And Australia knows their priority. They have a shortage of talent in this WC but the talented ones are playing like GOATs (Starc especially)

England slowly losing the plot. Anything over 240 will be hell to chase for England. Australian bowlers are ruthless and England is the most collapse prone team in the WC.

Is it just me or are the commies and crowd way to quiet. The atmosphere is of that of a dead rubber bilateral not a SF between Australia and England.

How does that make sense?
How was he always gonna be unstoppable?
When we first saw him everyone wrote him off.

It took him years of practise to get to where he is.

He never looked unstoppable in 2010. Even with that technique.
Its a change in mind set, on top of the crazy amount of time he put into practise.

Aus target should be to get around 50-60 runs in next 12 overs and reach 120-130 runs in 30 overs. Then move on from there

Seeing Smith bat makes me scared for the Australia vs Pakistan series at the end of this year...

Smith is a bang average batsman in one dayers in terms of overall career. Even in this world cup he was averaging 32 until this match.

TBH Australians don't really care about bilateral ODIs, they regular feature their 3rd rate team whenever possible. Starc misses like 75% of the bilaterals.

Starc and Smith are replicating the performances of McGrath and Ponting by performing in back to back World Cups

Sometimes we an use common sense to know who is better than just relying on stats etc

Lol he averages over 40.

The problem is you expect him to be as good in ODIs as he is in tests which is unlikely. He is still a very good ODI player.

This Australian team is not a great team but Australians always put up a fight. If Australia score 250+ then England will be under pressure and who knows the chase may become tricky.

Bruh I don’t even watch when he’s batting in Tests against us he’s like a machine just stays out there. An average of 61 in tests is insane! Ate our bowers alive last time there too.

Because he had the tempremeant and mentality. His main issue was his technique. Once that was sorted , he was always going to be a good player.

Dhoni won a world cup final man of the match. lol You have so many borrowed heroes since the days of Lara, Ponting, Amla to put down Indian players. Still unsuccessful.

Even Careys full head bandage has blood on it now! This is an incredible effort . . I am so impressed by Carey in this tournament . . The guy is a proper fighter and bats when Australia really needs him to!

If you really believe this then stop watching cricket on TV just look at stats on internet.

T20’s is even more extreme Starc’s played like 1 T20 in the past 5 years and it seems like Hazelwood has retired from that form too. :)))

Oh yeah. Smith isn't as good as Ponting but Starc might actually be the GOAT ODI bowler of all time. 20 bowling average in this flat pitch era!!

This is the advantage of batting first, opposition is not as intense while defending the total right through the match. Also batsmen don't feel the pressure after some time. Australia is gradually wresting the initiative. England may have to kiss good bye to their hopes of winning the world cup.

I think there is a massive difference between unstoppable and good player.

No one thought he was going to be a good player in 2010.
He came in as a spinner, but was a batsman.

Hindsight 20/20

His career average 41 is very very poor in this era.

Since 2015 he has been a good ODI player. Before that he was a very different player as well all know. He was batting usually down the order so those stats aren't what they look like.

I always thought he would be a good player if he sorted his technique out. Didn't expect him to be like this but always thought he could be a good player for Australia.

Character and mentality are just as important as technique.

Smith is scoring in 3 formats and in all conditions. Dhoni best format is ODIs and is batting in the middle order. Completely different players.

I mean in terms of capability. Dhoni can stick around but he struggles to take singles. Anyway I don't wanna demean Dhoni now, WC is over for India and he did ok.

Also Australian management should be given credit who realized his incredible temperament and they made him vice captain even before he has played even 30 ODIs.

This is when you can have epic battles against Kane Richardson, Tye, Boland, Faulkner and come on top and be called the GOAT.

Fun fact: Alex Carey’s full name is “Alex Tyson Carey”

And he is truly showing the Tyson part of his name by getting such a blow and still fighting.

Which Indian player i put down? I think Smith is a better batsmen for all conditions in all format. And if you dont agree you are either biased or don't understand cricket fully.

I think Imam will give him tough fight during the series.

He has his limits but he is mentally very strong.

Babar for all my money already played there once so expecting him to come good this time around. Imam is still finding his feet in Tests. Babar has been a beast in Tests too in the last year for us. Just need to send up the order to #3/4.

They are absorbed by the match.

By the England innings the beer will kick in and noise levels increase.

This is a common thing i notice with teams that field first. They are so intense in the first 10 or 15 overs. They tend to let the game drift. INdia did that yesterday. But when you field second you are focused fully for the entire duration of 50 overs and you pay attention field set every over. Something you don't do when you field first. That is exactly what happening. ENgland is letting the game drift.

india was a flawed team. So our exit was no surprise. if England exits today, all hell will break loose.

Yeah I feel like Babar will take his game to another level because of his century against NZ.

Let’s see what happens.

Carey is playing a different type of innings to what he has played earlier in the tournament.

England is just letting the game get away.. Australia will dictate this game if they get to 250 thereabouts. What a masterstroke to send the promising Carey at 3 down! The Aussies surely know how to identify talent and importantly seize big moments.

When Tendulkar was yesterday asked about the most impressive player of the tournament he said "Alex carey. but he is batting too low"
