Australia vs India | 4th Test | Sydney | Jan 3-7, 2019 | Day 1 Thread

Cummins going at 4.24 from his 8.3 overs. Doesn't seem too good from Australias best bowler :danish

Last 10 overs 53 runs and 0 wickets. India running away with the series here.

Mayank is here to stay. Agree?

Still struggling with the short ball but other than that, a solid opener. Exactly someone India needed after Shaw injury and constant failures of Rahul and Vijay.

Cummins is visibly tired here and bowling a lot slower than usual.

Mayank threw his wicket away.

Agrawal seems to have figured out Lyon bowling 2 sixes and oops spoken too early

misses out on 100 again, got a bit carried away with sixes lol. Thats why its important to respect good bowlers. GOAT strikes again. :out

what he said was absolutely correct. Would have been embarassing to lose to this depleted Australian side even after winning the toss on batting friendly pitches.

How many Asian teams have won a test series in Australia, in all these years of test cricket? Anyone who says that a series loss in Australia would be embarrassing either has no clue about cricket or just doesn't like India.

How many times have Aus fielded a batting line up this bad?

Australian Test summer is almost over and not a single 100, they've been playing on good pitches too

Stop explaining it to people here. India have caught Australia off guard at the perfect time.

Of course giving credit to Indian bowlers is an alien concept to you. Keep crying.

Get these two out and Aus has this game. India will fold quickly.

Pakistani fans crying in this thread has made me laugh more than any comedy show I have ever watched.

They're facing the #1 team and bowlers in top form like Bumrah and Ishant. No wonder their batsmen aren't doing well. No South African scored a hundred when India toured them either.

How dare you talk sense in this thread.

Lyon doesn't need long on when Kohli has just come. Don't give easy single.

When was the last time an Aussie batsmen didn't score a century at home.

Visitors would have taken 2-2 happily as they retain the Trophy .
What do you make of the pitch ? A result wicket or Draw a option here ?

The same Indian team which has won series in SA and Eng?

This Australian batting line up is rubbish, that's a fact. Every Australian will tell you this.

It was just one opener who played freely so far. Let's see how others do.

Like i said you're one clueless guy. Continue crying.

Name me one Australian batting line up that was worse than this in the last 2 decades. Heck can you remember an Australian summer where none of their batsmen scored a 100?

It was all about toss mate. Had India won more tosses it would have won more matches. They always found themselves batting fourth. Only two matches they batted first and they won both of them.

Nah, this batting line up is just terrible that they probably would have still lost a Test after batting first. They have no batting leaders who can take the responsibility of scoring the runs.

Khawaja and Marsh have never been main guys, they've only managed to look good when they've had stars around them who take the pressure off them.

I remember quiet few of them scoring runs for fun against English and NZ bowlers.

Funnily enough, this Aussie team actually won the only match where they batted first! Even this weak Aussie team was actually good enough to pull off a series win if they won 1/2 more tosses!

140-2, is a great score, especially when you are looking to win the series.

This third wicket is so crucial to Australia. Already on the back foot, on account of having to bat last, they need to get the Indians all out today. Lyon is already getting sharp turn on this pitch in 2nd session of first day. He will have to get wickets and the others will have to stop the flow of runs.

Just like how India would have won more tests in Eng if they had won Tosses and had Bumrah and Kumar not injured ? Let me guess that doesnt apply to India which you will not explain because now you will be running away from this thread

It can become 160/4 and Aus can take the game away.

Aussies were afraid right from the start of the series , that is reflected in kind of wickets they have made here.

Yeah, those teams had Smith and Warner. Why so triggered by the fact this team has no batting leaders.

Do you disagree?

This series was always going to be a lose-lose. You either beat up a weak Aus team missing their only two world class batsmen or you lost to a team missing their two batsmen.

Only way to avoid it was with emphatic wins, none of them have been really that. You put Smith and Warner into those games and the result probably changes.

True! Need to break this partnership first.

Pujara is the big wicket and he can just dig in there and eat up deliveries. Pujara has already faced 1000+ balls this series.

And neither is this India team at full strength ... something that you will never address for obvious reasons.

Aman has nothing else to do except regurgitate tired disproven arguments, sigh. One would almost think NZ haven't been playing.

I just don't understand how a batter batting at 3 gets million rums against NZ and England and struggles to reach double digits vs India.

Who are India missing?

Ashwin? :)))

Would he even make the team ahead of Jadeja at this point.

Smith and Warner are a different ilk.

He has been the eyesore for Aus to be honest.

It's really easy.

You don't have the safety net of Warner or Smith there to bare the brunt of the pressure. They're the ones expected to do most of the scoring because they're the stars, everyone else are support players. They're not expected to score big runs and win games, that pressure is on Warner and Smith.

It's the same with India - Kohli and Pujara, NZ - Kane and Taylor.

Ashwin, Shaw, Rohit, Saha and now Ishant these are all first choice players. You can cackle all you want but those are the facts.

Rohit and Ishant, aren't these two meme cricketers :)))

Shaw has played 2 Tests. Saha :)))

The dude is a specialist keeper and will be displaced by Pant.

Please.

Ishant and Ashwin would have played ahead of others. Let's see if it proves costly for Indians here.

If we score 350 plus, it wont matter. Most of the Aussie batsmen have never faced Kuldeep and would tough to pick his googly if he lands one on target.

I hope the cheaters come back to hold his hand soon.

I actually think India had it easy. No reverse swing from Aussie quicks this series. That's why our batters are able to score more runs against one dimensional Aussie pacers.

I think India are forgetting their own 2014 tour when Mitch Marsh of all people gobsmacked them with a certain Steven Smith standing at non striker end. Batting leaders are very much necessary and they guide the other batsmen in the team.

Warner is a hack would have been thoroughly exposed by Bumrah ... now what ? Ohh wait I forgot the smiley :))) :91: :)) ... want more ?

Stick to football Amandeep. Cricket ain't your cup of tea.

Kiwi's are playing a ODI right now & just 6 posts on that thread . Any support for Blackcaps here ?
At 148/2 , 400+ looks on .

I have NZ-SL on in the background..

I'm not going to spam a thread when I'm the only one posting.

Would India have played Ishant ahead of Yadav in Sydney?

Indians would have surely played Ishant if he was fit. 3 Indian pacers have complemented each other nicely.

I thought he was going to add Ashok Dinda and Piyush Chawla too

India winning a series in Australia when other teams are unable to draw or win a test match. A true no 1 indeed. So proud \m/

350 will still keep Aus in this game. 400-450 may push it beyond them.

2 wickets here and you won't be saying that.

PRithvi shaw is a future legend. India misses him more. Look at Agarwal. They played two walking wickets in the first 2 tests. That kinda offset Australia;s missing players. Pandya provides an excellent balance for India. He took fifer to win a test in England.

I think Sri Lanka also has a very good chance of winning test series in Australia next month. It's like a golden opportunity for Asian teams to bag some wins when two of the best batsmen of the game are missing..

Shaw/Agarwal there's little difference to be made there, Agrawal has performed really well.

Difference between Ashwin and Jadeja is again negligible, their numbers are similar in this series. Heck, hasn't Jadeja performed better than Ashwin outside the SC? It might actually be an improvement.

You add Smith and Warner to this removing the duds who haven't performed, there will be a significant improvement in Australia's performance.

You have to factor in India didn't exactly send their "Perfect XI". This XI was picked up by some lobbyists. Many should not even be there as they are carrying injuries. Chaotic selection.
