India bowled them out for 151 in the last test. Only guy who batted well was Cummins . Not a single Australian has got a 100 in this series.
 
Wear them down. Remember Dhoni bowling in England when nothing was working? I would like Paine to give the gloves to Khwaja or Finch and take his run up.

2008 India lost. Eng lost in 2007 , one example you gave. So it seems 500+ is not so safe score in Aus because pitch it literally a road some time and other team can score very fast as well to come back.

Nah, I don't expect this bunch to win the test from here. I was just giving example of 500+ not being a sure shot draw.

Problem is that this Aus batting lineup in this series at least hasn't shown any promise bar Perth to espouse such hopes...
 
I read somewhere that Aus hasn't scored a test ton since Sandpaper gate. Is it true?
 
Anyway, If I am India I will give pacers 8-10 overs before day is over. That way they can bowl one spell today and one spell in morning when they are fresh.
 
Lyon now averages in excess of 32. How could he be called best spinner in world with an average of 32, is beyond me!

India lost to Bucknor and Bowden picking up wkts at will in 2008 (I dont think we made 500+ though) . ICC plugged that hole. india won in 2003 based on epic batting by Rahul and VVS.

That pitch had something for bowlers .. we had 3 pacers... this pitch is still good for batting

He isn't best spinner. He goes very defensive too early.
 
Double century coming up for Lyon. If this was Ashwin, he would've been criticized to death.

India's best bats in Tests are: Pujara, Kohli, Agarwal, Shaw and then Pant.

Maybe if Ashwin had to bowl on day 1 and 2 pitch against this mighty Indian bowling, you would question Ashwins credibilities too.

I remember only 2 innings of note by Dhoni in test cricket, his first ever test ton against Shoaib & Co at a dead as dodo Faislabad pitch and that Chennai double ton against Aus on a Mars like pitch, lol.

Disagree. All his drops were opportunities most keepers wouldn't even reach. He is one of the all time great keepers

But he still averages 32 in test cricket! And if he can't succeed against best in business, how could he be called best in world?

To be fair, he played a great innings at Lords 2007. Helped in drawing the match which helped in winning the series.

I remembered that innings but that is tainted a bit by that reprieve by Umpire.

Ahswin. He can vary his flight and use dip to fool batsmen. Yasir or Jadeja don't do that often. Not a huge difference , but I will go with Ashwin. He bowled very well in the first test.

Shaw has played 2 tests in India and Agarwal 2 in Oz. Pant has now played well in England, India and Aus.

At this moment, it's Kohli, Pujara, Pant for me.

I have been a lurker on the forum for far long to know who Buffet roots for. He's a silent guardian. Its a big moment for all of us. Winning in Australia. Different people will react in different ways.

I am getting flashbacks of Indian batting in 2017, and the sour taste of the SA and England series are slowly being forgotten :)

Nah, I am not suggesting that Aus will win form here. I was simply pulling examples in recent years where 500+ is not a guaranteed draw. Given significance of this series win for India, I see no point in India taking out even a chance of miracle here. No one will care if score was 2-1 or 3-1. First series win in Aus and that's what everyone will remember.

Not many took England defeat seriously. If anything INdia was very unlucky to lose 5 tosses in a row And also couple of injuries.Selection errors. Everything struck at the same time. Still they gave Engladn a run for money. But for Sam Curran even with so much against them they could have won 3-2.
 
Damn, we're going to face the wrath of Aus next summer.

They'll be out with a point to prove after this pathetic performance.

Wheels are coming off for Aus. Easy runs for India here. Looking at Kohli, it seems they simply wants to pile on here. I would have done the same thing.
 
To win a series in Australia is a tremendous achievement for any team, moreso for a sub-continent side. Yes, they are missing two of their best players but can you hold it against us? Can only beat what's in front of you.

Also, I suspect while Aus have been bad this series they would still flog any of the other Asian sides. Bumrah is the reason why we're in this position.
 
While some may be thinking as to why India arent declaring, I feel as a captain, it becomes hard to declare when you are watching Aussies getting absolutely ripped apart in their own backyard.
 
Combination of things did Australia in. They bowled 190 plus overs in all in the last test. Again they come back and bowl first here. Another 160 overs. Took its toll.

It doesn't matter, India is likely to put 650 here. Aus can't do anything. India is ensuring that even a miracle can't stop them from winning first series in Aus.

It's all one person, Pujara, playing those marathon knocks. Bowling 150+ overs takes a toll.
 
I don't get why they didn't rotate their bowlers for this series? Obviously overworking their pacers was going to be a concern.

Starc is definitely getting dropped for the Ashes.

Ozzies bowlers have done well to hold up. If it were Pakistan, Abbas would have left the field and Amir would have been bowling 110-120kph by now.
 
Never seen any Asian team demolishing Australia like this in Australia. This is a massacre.

I don't think they need to declare given the run rate they are going at. They can get to 700 in the next 16-17 overs.
