If he is crap what are bowlers like Sami, Gul, Agarkar :P
No need to mention Gul with Sami and Agarkar. He isnt THAT bad.
Lee has improved considerably recently - certainly didnt expect him to take as many wickets in this series as he has but it will be interesting to see how he goes against India. That may give a more accurate portrayal of his progression

Jaques out on 68 ct at cover boundary by Vandort of Malinga.
Aus 154-2 after 29.3 overs - lead of 450

Jacques is a bit of a choker - cant turn 70s into 100s / 100s into 150s / and 150s into 200s

Yep. Thats why someone like Imran Farhat is so much better. No such problems. Ever.

Well it is now just a matter of do Aus declare before lunch or 30 min after lunch.
165-2 - lead of 461
Maybe the Australian hopping beasts Gilchrist or Symonds should have come

I like the Aussie v SL commentary thread.

Tension free - you can call Jacques an choker; Murali a chucker; Malnga a joker;

He chokes - cant convert his 0s into 1s...

we are watching cricket here not a drama. but couple of "aussie" don't come here compared to the Pakistani threads :batman:

lot of kids in the ground today. fun to hear them chanting and screaming. tiny voices coming OZ OZ OZ Oye Oye Oye. The other stuff I cannot make out

What the &*^%& ???

That was single man!

And look at his &(*^*(*^( strike rate! What a chocking looser!

u r taking revenge or what? :23:

PS : Moyo is selfish (just a reminder) :>

There would have been 2 pages of being defensive and scared posts because Kaptaan didn't enforce follow on. Then there would have also been a thread of it at sametime

OMG!! time since last boundary 32 balls. what are Ponting and Hussey doing :12: Playing for averages. Ponting 35 off 70 balls :))

They havent been calling Murali a chucker today.

Better crowd than in 1st test?

I think Ponting a little lucky but not much of an appeal couple of overs ago. No appeal from keeper at all maybe because he dove and took a catch on the leg side. There was a noise and sounded like a bat but nothing. Just showed snicko and there was an edge

Apologies for my lame efforts at 'Pakistanifying' this match thread...and failing.

Drama! There is a house on fire by the ground!

There was noise first day when Murali was bowling. Not today

a house burning

Hussey looking good again.

I'd like to see him score all these runs in the sub-continent... :26:

Ponting 50 off 94 balls

time since last boundary 42 balls

Was a beauty 1st up....bit of swing just at the right tme

yeah Lee started with first two balls swinging out. next couple of overs will be good to watch
SL 12-0 - need 495 more

Vandort out. trying to pull but edges to Point ct by sub (lockyear) off Johnson
SL 15-1 - need 492 :95:

3.3 Johnson to Vandort, OUT, that's a brute of a bouncer and gets his man, 145kph, short and just outside off, Vandort not sure what to do with it and goes for a half-hearted pull, the bottom hand comes off the bat and he ends up one-handed, scooping the ball straight to point, fantastic ball from Lee, first blood

Some news about one of my favourite batsmen. Darren Lehman to quit first-class cricket soon. What a player. - cricinfo commentator

I thought he already retired as I don't think he was playing at Yorkshire this year. Maybe that is the breaking news on Cricket show at lunch if Lehman played at New South Wales

I understand that Murali be presenting him with a Silver medallion during the lunch break for Lehman's services to 'Australian sportsmanship'...

That was the news. Lehman just had a press conference to announce this. He said he will be done after the next limited over and 4 day match against Western Australia this week. He has tears in his eyes as he is thanking some people.
20 years in first class cricket for him

A feud or not seeing eye to eye between Rod Marsh and Lehman. :108: Hopefully it will be interesting like in Pakistan cricket and not just a flat coke

I thought Asif was going to give some drugs to prolong his career. :)))

I think she is moving to Pakistan where you can get away with it. ;-)
Dont believe everything you see on PTV News thesedays..

If the Lankans can get through the post tea session (or sassion as Waqar would say) without losing a wicket then we could be on for a sensational upset tomorrow

Lankans have gone into dour defence mode since tea.

In 8 overs since tea they have only scored 9 runs....and 4 of them were an edge through the slips for 4. Don't know what their plan is.

I hope someone can upload Lee's bowling in this match later on! Would be much appreciated...!

MacGill getting some harsh treatment from the SL batsmen. Last two of his overs have gone for 13 runs each. In fact last over had 3 no balls (one which was a catch).

Sangakarra with his 1st hundred against Australia.

Classy player. My favorite cricketer.

Last over of the day ... barring there is no loss of wickets here, I think SL will be relatively happy with how things have ended up today.

Days end...

Great knock from Sanga ... once Jayasuriya joined him in the middle, he went from 59 to 102 in 40 balls. At the close of play Sanga is sitting nicely on 109. Jayasuriya has also played his part and has contributed 33 runs to the partnership of 89 runs.

If they can get through to lunch without losing a wicket then things could get interesting

I figure these two will need to bat at least till lunch and beyond tomorrow for Sri Lanka to have a chance. Batting after this partnership is very suspect.

Sri lanka need 260 to win with 7 wickets in hand.

A couple of early wickets and i can see the rest falling like a pack of cards.

Sanga, Jaya and Chamara silva will need to get bulk fo runs if sri lanka are even going to get even a sniff close 2 the target!

If we can get Sangakkara I reckon even our newbie attack will be able to roll the rest of them. On another note, geez MacGill was hopeless yesterday. LOL at what Sangakkara said:

Kumar Sangakkara attacked MacGill as the weak link in a strong Australian bowling attack and he was relieved to receive the release of pressure after a torrid spell from Brett Lee in the final session. Sangakkara struck 40 runs off the 46 deliveries he faced from MacGill, including seven fours.

"Stuey was struggling a bit," he said. "He's not bowling as good as he usually does. When you have an attack with the quality of Australia, you always cash in on the weaker link. Unfortunately for Stuart MacGill, it was his turn."

Also, Ponting reckons that SL have a decent sniff.

Both Sangakkara and Ponting expect the bounce to become more unpredictable on day five and each team will also have an eye on the weather. Showers are forecast and the potential for rain influenced Ponting's declaration before lunch, leaving Sri Lanka with a chase of 507.

"That amount of runs on that wicket was chase-able," Ponting said. "[The declaration] was more the time [factor] for me. Pulling out before lunch was the right thing. If we're not good enough to win the game with five sessions remaining and 500 on the board, it wouldn't have mattered how long we had."

no way SL can win this. it's just as we were against Saffies last series. when Yunus fell everything fell apart.here if Sanga goes, game is done and dusted for Lankans.

Well done Sangakkara and Atapattu for playing exceptional knocks. The latter got out at a very crucial moment but still a good Innings. I predicted Sangakkara, Jayawerdene and Atapattu to score in Australia because they have much better technique then some of their colleagues. Murali, as expected and predicted by me, had a poor series and Australians challenged him and left him empty-handed to sit in the plane.

I just think we are going to see something spectacular tomorrow, Sri Lanka have given themselves a good chance by battling and batting well.

I hope it will be an interesting and entertaining day´s play at Hobart :19: .

start of day 5

Sri Lanka require another 247 runs with 7 wickets remaining

Jaysuriya on 44 and Sangakara on 111

this could be close i have this feeling its going to be close

The first wicket is cruicial to both. Both can play big innings, though Jayasuria has not played a long innings for a while

Sanath goes for 45

Thats gotta be the game to the Aussies.

This will be wrapped by lunch.

Like 12th Man says - 1st wkt was the key - it came in the 2nd over.

Dont know how you save or win a game from here.

So typical. Aussies smother the other team before it can even try to make things interesting.

At least lawyer sahib is still there.
