Sami is more of a one day batsman, don't know why we try him in tests.

Try him for the format in which he does well.

Nah he is just another timid, mental midget of Pakistan cricket. It's astonishing how a flock of PPers here wanted to him open with Azhar/Imam/Fakhar.

Sarfraz does not want to waste more overs that is why he came out himself to bat as he knows he is not in the best of forms.
 
Loose loose situation for Sarfraz- if he bats well, it hardly gives much confidence to face Jimmy & Co., if he gets out cheap, it’ll get worse.

Ideally Sarfraz should have rested this game & work with coaches for his keeping; but I guess to keep him comfortable PCB has decided not to send a back up WK.

Any Irish player has better technique then Sami who played historical first test.
 
Sarfraz gone cheaply again... He seems to be only good for 20 and 30s these days...
 
Do you guys reckon it's Sarfraz's captaincy that has gotten Pakistan to where it is now, or is the coaching of Mickey Arthur? if it's the latter then there is serious contemplation to find another young enterprising keeper
 
I think the recent drama with Sarfraz's niece maybe the reason for these below-par performances
 
In last 1 year, in long game Sarfraz probably has 2 innings of 50+ & several between 10-30; which actually indicates his limitation as a batsman, rather than bad patch (lost form). He needs to improve keeping some how, otherwise his batting won’t improve either. For WK-Captain, being poor with gloves is the worst situation for confidence.

Should have rested this game for sure.
 
Sarafraz not worth a place in side right now and hes the captain :facepalm:

No one should be in team just due to captaincy, Sarfraz is less than of international class as a keeper and as batsman. His fitness is worse than an average club cricketer and he is no Imran Khan as a captain either.
 
Saad gone. That's probably the end for him for this tour with only 2 tests to go.

Hopefully he will do well against Aus/NZ.
 
very surprised that Sarfraz comes to bat at #5 :facepalm: even #6 is too high for him

Gotten us where exactly, in Test cricket? The results have been dismal. Just atrocious. And I don't think this series will make the picture any better. Whoever is responsible should be fired, but Mickey won't be on the basis of poor Tests alone. So I perhaps Sarfraz will be shown the door, with the understanding that he can still keep on as captain in ODIs and T20s?

How many tests has sarfaraz captained pak team?
 
Pathetic batting performance. This is the worst county side by far, and a weakened one at that. How many times does Sami have to fail to realise he's just not international class?
 
It's gonna be fun when Mohammad Abbas bowls - playing against the team he currently has a contract for :) will go back to Leicestershire after the tests v England.

The fixture is final preparation for the Pakistan squad before their test series against England. The Ireland game saw Leicestershire CCC overseas bowler Muhammad Abbas pick up nine wickets in the match: four in the first innings and five in the second.

Abbas’ success came as no surprise to Head Coach Paul Nixon. “We know how much quality Mo [Muhammad Abbas] possesses and the skill he can bowl with,” said Nixon.

“It’ll be great to see Mo back at the Fischer County Ground and to catch up with him before he returns in the middle of June after the test series.”
 
Salahuddin is a classy player. Pretty unbelievable that he hasn't made his debut yet.

If Hassan replaces Rahat, they can use either Fakhar or Salahuddin to replace Faheem.
But I don't think the want to go back to 4 bowlers, especially after a strong batting performance by Faheem vs Ireland

Strong batting with Fakhar is not a bad idea but then Faheem can bat
 
Who are the people that complained about Fakhar’s technique?

I was pushing for him to play Tests for weeks.

He is WAY BETTER than Shafiq!!!
 
Usman is ready for test team; Babar or Asad should be on chopping block
 
I say pack our batting.... Amir, Hasan, Abbas and Shadab is a good enough bowling attack to dismiss England twice. Plus help from part-timers like Harry and Fauji will come in handy.

overall seems like a good fighting knock by Salahuddin, but I'm a little disappointed he hasn't stepped up the scoring rate so far...

nonetheless, his and Fakhar's knock should create some pressure on Azhar and especially Asad

He's another Azhar Ali in the making, so I wouldn't keep your hopes up. In the middle order need players who can bat at least 50+.

I guess he took 0 % risks as this is probably the only time he will bat. He did his thing.
 
Pakistan won't be picking either of Usman or Saad for the first test no matter if they even scored a century.

Sarfaraz has enough confidence. He will lead well come the tests.

people talk about back up WK like this is a norm... how often do we see a back-up WK travelling with the team?

Almost never, and I doubt Sarfraz, the CAPTAIN of all THREE teams would be made uncomfortable by a rookie back-up WK travelling with the team

Good practice for Azhar. Hopefully he gets some confidence from that knock. Happy that Usman got a score . His strike rate is a worry but can't read too much into warm ups.

Hopefully our bowlers pick up some wickets and get some confidence .
