[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Babar Azam’s failures against India

W63L35 was indeed the stats guru back on the days. He also used to bring context in to the stats (look at his old threads) and used to measure stats against it. Since stats without context is meaningless, his posts indeed were rare of a kind since he did try to mitigate the weaknesses that stats have.

Then went in to hibernation.

Post hibernation, it feels like someone took over his account and pushing biased stats. It didn't use to be.

If this (somebody else taking over my account) is your best counter argument, then you haven't changed a bit over the years! :)

That's not counter argument. That's just expressing disappointment to be honest.

You used to be go to statistician when it came to things like this. Always trusted your opinion.

Now.... Can't say the same since its apparent that the same touch isn't there anymore.

Most of the times I copy paste from Cricinfo without any opinions.
If a few numbers are giving you disappointement then - either you don't have any opinion to counter those number or you can not use cricinfo's statsguru yourself for a counter argument/numbers. You should try using statsguru. It is very simple to use.

If Babar and Kohli are in the same team, who would be the main guy and who will be the support cast?

If Babar’s most delusional and loyal fans know the answer.

As for Babar, he will play his natural game. He is our best bat, world #1 in ODIs. If you think rankings are inaccurate, then propose a new ranking algorithm to the ICC. Fact is Babar can only play what is infront of him.

So what if Babar doesn't have higher gears, neither did Dravid. I would rather have a player play his natural game (which is quality anyway) and last longer at the crease, then get out quick playing an unnatural game.

The Pakistan players in your rich history list played in a different era. You should add Hanif Mohammed to the list too, however the players in the rich history list played their natural game, so there is no reason to expect anything else from Babar.

As for centuries in losses, not bothered, 66% of Tendulkar's 100 centuries never resulted in a win, so to single out Babar's century in a losing cause in simply biased and unjust. The main thing is that Babar has the ability to score centuries, and this is all that matters to me.

Now on to his captaincy, this is the only point I would agree with you. Babar does have much to learn, but the greatest teachers are mistakes, so I have faith in him captaining Pakistan in his first ever ODI WC captain on the hope he has learned from his mistakes.

I appreciate your genuine efforts but despite your post you continue to ridicule Babar, especially in this thread. Fine but it seems to me you want Babar to conquer the world, but are disappointed that he is not playing your version of an unnatural game, me on the other hand, I have followed Pakistan long enough to know to expect the unexpected and let the universe unfold.

Finally, if you think Pakistan are going to humiliate themselves at this WC, then why bother watching? Genuine question.

On a side note, there is an interesting theory called the Theory of Emergence. At a basic level it means individual components are useless (for example fans) but when they unite (emergence) they become powerful and influential.

So lets unite behind Pakistan and enjoy the WC!
Your posts have too much emotion involved that will go in time, step back and actually look at the game instead of fan boying over babar.

Fact is babar is a not a match winner. Its been too many years of him bottling under pressure in a big game... he can make runs, he wont win you matches... its not hating, stating facts is not hating. What you are doing is far worse. Sweeping his deficencies under the rug...

That is correct.

You also forget to mention that Babar hasn't had 0.001% of the impact Kohli has had in Pakistan-India matches and Babar would NEVER take his team over the line in a situation like this:
View attachment 137854
If one image could capture the greatness of Kohli and why Babar would never lace his boots, this would be it. This is one of the powerful images in history of cricket.

#HeCannotPlayThem
There is no compairison. Kohli is on a different level and has a different mindset.

At worst did the barest of minimum vs India (scoring 50) and couldn't capitalize and play an impact innings vs Australia to at least get his team deep and in touching distance of the target. Babar Azam in general is a wonderful player and there is still more WC cricket to be played here for him, but as the kids say these days, he is not 'him'.

Babar fan club keeps sharing his cover drive a shot pretty much even tailender can play when the ball is pitched up. Who doesn't play a cover drive well? Almost everyone. Heck Smriti Mandhana is a gorgeous cover driver. But there are other shots he has to be good at. Bottom handed player like Kohli can play some outrageous shots that not many top hand players can play. Whipping the ball over midwicket for six. These are not easy shots. Babar has to expand his range of shots. Not rely on cover drives and placement. Inside out lofted shot, whipping the ball for six. In terms of stroke range Gill already surpassed many modern players. Also against spin Babar has limited options. He just knows how not to get out and score runs when it is offline.

Babar Fans in this thread: Babar has scored more runs and has had better tournament results recently and Kohli has been the world’s biggest choker in knockout matches throughout his whole career

Kohli Fans in this thread: : We love his vibe ❤️😍 he’s so alpha ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍 Babar can not tie his laces 😍😍😍
Looks like this has also ended in tears. At least Babar fans won’t talk about the 2023 World Cup.

I think you may have misread the post. I just posted something that was undeniably true at the time and made no reference to future results. In fact, I stated multiple times in the thread and others that Rohit and Kohli are both miles better than Babar.

Guess anything below hero worship isn’t enough though eh?

Just for clarity:

“Babar has scored more runs and has better tournament results in recent times” is past tense - meaning something that has already occcurred.

“Babar will score more runs and have better tournament results” is future tense - meaning I would be making a prediction.

No problem if you misunderstood, but kindly try not to purposefully misinterpret. Also, Babar wasn’t the only one who outplayed him in the most recent ICC tournaments before this World Cup - so did Rohit, Root, Warner, Finch, Williamson, Bairstow, Stokes, and Roy.

I did not misunderstand anything.

My point is that delusional Babar fans will not do the “but Babar has scored more runs than Kohli in recent tournaments” drama after the ongoing World Cup because old Kohli has comfortably out-batted, outclassed, outscored and will soon outlast their fake king who is supposedly in the prime of his career.

Speaking of recent tournament performances, Kohli’s knock against Pakistan at the MCG last year is bigger than Babar’s entire career so Kohli did not need to emotionally damage Babar fans in this World Cup to prove that Babar is not even in the same league.

I understand the pain and frustration of Babar fans. The years long agenda and propaganda has evaporated in a fortnight, but this treatment was necessary for them to wake up and accept the reality.

Kohli is clearly of a different class. But why do Kohli’s performances always have to be used to demean Babar? Babar is a great batsmen, but he’s not as good as Kohli and that’s okay. Miandad was great, but not as great as Sachin. Sachin’s greatness didn’t make Miandad less great. It’s like everytime Kohli plays a good innings, for some reason before giving credit to Kohli people just rush to bash Babar.

The reason is Babar vs Kohli thread was started by a Pakistani fan who thinks its true.

If people accepted that Kohli greater than Babar, why would there be a 9 page thread showing different variations where Babar seems to be better than Kohli.

Also is it that surprising people on a Pakistani cricket forum root for their player Babar over their rival teams player? Thats the joy of sports, we all say and do irrational things in support of our team.

I root for Babar as if he’s the greatest batsmen that ever lived because he’s on OUR team. If I was giving you a logical answer, obviously he’s not GOAT tier. If I wanted to just fanboy over Kohli I’d just go to an Indian Cricket Forum where’s the plenty of that going on. Part of the experience of sports is suffering with your team when you guys are bad, because then you get to enjoy the hype when they play good.

The thread was about Babar’s failures against India. Not sure having a bad record against only one team demeans Babar. But yeah it’s a Pakistani cricket forum, people will most likely support their team’s player and have belief in him over better players on other teams. Is that surprising to you?

You have to ask the Babar fans who caused severe damage to Babar’s career by comparing him to someone who is in a different class.

The forced comparisons with Kohli has done more harm to Babar’s career than anything. This was a battle that he was never going to win and his cult fans set him up for failure.

Babar would be criticized a lot less than he is now if his cult fans wouldn’t have compared him to Kohli.

Babar should have been compared to batsmen in his league and within his league he is probably the best.

Supporting ? No.

Considering Babar is a good batsmen? No.

Believing Babar greater than Kohli ? Delusional.

Knowing Babar is not as great as Kohli or Tendulkar but still making such remarks to incite Indian fans ? Trolling.

Unfortunately, our fans are either 3rd or 4th category.

Fair enough, I just don’t think what people say on this forum actually matters that much as it pertains to Babar’s legacy. If this forum didn’t exist, you truthfully believe Babar would leave behind a better legacy because of less comparisons by his die hard fans? I find it hard to believe.

Trolling rivals is one of the most fun part of sports 😂 why is that unfortunate? Being delusional about how good your team can be is also one of the most fun part of sports.

It is not just Internet forums but also social media. As I explained in the other thread, Babar brand building on social media was carefully strategized to mimick Kohli and that has done a lot of damage to his career and subjected him to ridicule.

Legacies are all about perception. People will now look back at his career and remember he couldn’t step out of Kohli’s shadow simply because his fans forced him into a comparison with Kohli.

Another one added to the list. 13 innings, 1 half-century.

He cannot play them.

The main difference between an ordinary player and a great player is how you handle pressure situations. Babar cracks under pressure everytime. He lacks the killer instinct. Kohli on the otherhand performs well under pressure. I have always said Babar is vastly overated.
The last few years have killed any potential comparison between Babar and Kohli.

Kohli plays in a way that Babar can't even play in his dreams.

Babar's fall in the last few years has been precipitous. He was looking like an all format greatest batsman to come from Pakistan.

Now he's 30 with a strictly middling test numbers that frankly flatter him - his away record is poor.

ODI remains his best format but it's mostly low stakes JAMODIs. For a wannabe ATG of the format, his record in world tournaments is underwhelming.

T20 is easily his worst format. An absolute match loser who actively sabotages his own team in the Power Play overs with low SR.

You are right, but unfortunately, it does nothing to change the fact that Babar has been very mediocre vs India.

He is the only great Pakistani batsman to have a poor record vs India, although it is true that the other great Pakistani batsmen played against weaker attacks.
He's not up there. He failed his chances as a player to cement himself as GOAT of Cricket.

Failed in;
Asia Cup 2022
WT2022
Asia Cup 2023
World Cup 2023
Australia Test Tour 2023/24
WT2024

He was never in competition to be the GOAT. He was never in the same league as Kohli.

But his critics call him a mediocre batsman which is not true at all. He is very, very good and especially excellent for a country like Pakistan who has produced nothing more than 4-5 world class batsmen in its entire history.

Nonetheless, it is a shame that he has been unable to cope with Indian bowling.

Babar needs to at least try to match our Pakistani legends first like Inzamam, Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, YK in their approach playing against India. He seems to get timid like others and throw away his wicket at crucial moments.

Pleez, amla was a borderline atg and the best test batsman itw at his peak. Helped Sa win a series almost everywhere
Imo, I don't think amla is ATG in Whiteball only red ball.

He's gun in odi yes, but I hold him to modern great standards which is one tier below atg for me.

But yeah babar comparison is hilarious 😂. What a huge insult to amla.

I said borderline atg across formats, I don't consider him to be an atg either, especially in white ball

Ya but borderline atg for whiteball I got people like quinton on that list. The only reason I prevent giving him atg status is because he has always been utter garbage batting 2nd in his career and he tends to choke and lose the plot usually.

He's gun as an opener batting first when their isn't a target and his thoughts are clear.

But khair I respect your opinion, you have your own criteria to rate players and I respect it.

Kohli has won 4 POTM awards in India vs Pakistan T20Is - the most by any player.
No other players has more than one.

Any other special filters you want to apply, sir?
Did Babar Azam's century help Pakistan qualify for Semi Finals in 2019.... ohhh wait ... nopes :p. Statpadder
Every great player is a stats padder.

Pakistan’s missed out on qualification in 2019 because no other batsman except Babar turned up.

Let’s look at the performances of the top order/specialist batsmen:

Babar: 8 matches, average 67
Imam: 8 matches, average 38
Fakhar: 8 matches, average 23
Haris: 5 matches, average 39
Hafeez: 8 matches, average 31

Pakistan didn’t qualify because no other batsman was good enough to score runs, and if any two of these batsmen had padded their stats like Babar, Pakistan would have been in the semis.

Pakistani fans are allergic to batsmen who can score runs. They are in love with hacks who throw their wickets away.

hmm... lets seee
If we remove this stat padded NZ innings at SR of 70+ and the permanent Pakistan's spank team Bangladesh .. Babar had 277 runs from 6 innings at GOAT average of 44.5. And please remember this is "peak Babar" as per your claims. He turned up when it was easy and vanished when it mattered. He has been a king of Statpadding nothing more.

Why should we remove the hundred vs NZ?

Classy batsmen and one of Pakistans most talented in recent times. Lets be honest, right now hes the only all format batsmen Pakistan has, which speaks volumes for the lack of batting talent Pakistan has at grassroot level.

Nowhere near Virat Kohli at his prime, nor for that matter a patch on Inzi, Yousuf and Younus from the generation before.

He reminds me alot of Hashim Amla, good player and scores a decent amount of runs but never had 'it' to really be top tier.

He just knows how not to get out and score runs when it is offline.
babar cannot play sweep shot. you need that in your arsenal to play the spin bowlers who bowl accurately with variations.. Younis khan was master of it. i bet he scored half of his 10K in tests playing sweep shot

Last game he tried he got out

You are right, but unfortunately, it does nothing to change the fact that Babar has been very mediocre vs India.

He is the only great Pakistani batsman to have a poor record vs India, although it is true that the other great Pakistani batsmen played against weaker attacks.
I agree he underperforms against india. :(

The pak fans found Babar as a great batsman because overall quality of pak batting lineup is low grade as compared to batting lineup of 90’s Pakistan team. I doubt Babar would have got chance to play in 90s Pakistan side

Babar once again failed to prove himself as a great batter. He had perfect chance Once again to win a game on a difficult pitch but he with all of his other 10 members failed badly

Message to Babar fans .. before Calling Babar a king, pls go and watch old cricket videos of Saeed Anwar…. he was a terrific batsman….. IMO Saeed Anwar was a far far better batsman than Babar Azam

Both T20 and ODI's performance vs India

Shan Masood has scored more runs in his last World Cup match against India then Babar has in his last two World T20 games against the same opponent.
