What's the point of playing this ODI tournament when the national team will be engaged in international duties? Why not delay it till the time the players are available?

if Misbah was playing than it could had been delayed, they wont delay it for the current lot :)

If Australia can have Ashes and Big Bash at the same time then we can afford to have Pakistan Cup and Australia series at the same time as well. In fact I think it’s good because fringe players will get more opportunities in domestic cricket such as our under 19 players.

Good chance for fringe players to sign. Our national players dont need to play every single domestic tournament.

token list a tournament, in hierarchy for selection notice this tourny pbly comes in last place. should just can the format and let cricketers rest a bit.

50 over WC is only about 18 months away so it's a vital tournament.

I've never heard of "House of Northern Islamabad" ground - is that a new venue ? Major

according to google maps they have renamed diamond cricket ground.

After the HBL PSL 7, Pakistan Cup also provides a great opportunity to young and talented cricketers to showcase their skills to get a chance to represent Pakistan in white-ball series against Australia. Pakistan Cup is all set to commence from 2 March in four cities – Faisalabad, Islamabad, Lahore and Multan.

Besides three Tests, Pakistan are to play three ODIs and one T20I against Australia scheduled to take place at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi from 29 March.

In this context, the PCB today confirmed 16-player squads of six Cricket Associations teams for next month Pakistan Cup – the final tournament of the domestic season 2021-22. The squads have been finalised with the idea of providing opportunities to those young players who have given impressive performances in this year’s domestic season which include HBL PSL 7.

The tournament will be held on a double-league basis from 2 March and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa led by Iftikhar Ahmed will look to defend the title when they take on Raza Ali Dar led Central Punjab at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. Test leg-spinner Yasir Shah will lead Balochistan, while another leg-spinner and all-rounder Shadab Khan will lead Northern. Test fast bowler Mir Hamza will lead Sindh which will meet Salman Ali Agha’s Southern Punjab on the opening day at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

The PCB will live stream group stage matches scheduled at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The decision to broadcast semi-finals and final at the Multan Cricket Stadium will be taken in due course.

The tournament carries nearly PKR10million in prize money. The tournament winners will bag PKR5million, while the runners-up will receive PKR2.5million.

Some odd captaincy choices

Balochistan looks the weakest followed by Southern Punjab.

Northern has the potential as always to win the cup but KPK and CP will give them a tough fight.

Really looking forward to Qasim Akram, Mohammed Haris, Huraira, Nasir Nawaz and Mohammed Talha.

Good to see faisal akram but would have thought mohammed shazad would have fit in somewhere

What's the point of playing this ODI tournament when the national team will be engaged in international duties? Why not delay it till the time the players are available?
Because there are hundreds of local talents waiting to shine. Let them play. There are enough quality players to make this a watchable tournament.

So only five national under 19 players will feature in this tournament. Some these teams don’t even have a single national under 19 player featuring in the whole squad. Very interesting.

Some distinctly average looking squads. Central Punjab in particular have chosen very poorly. Can see them struggling in this tournament. As previously pointed out some odd captaincy choices.

So, who are you replacing in every squad to make it less average?

Whats the point of making Yasir Shah captain? We should be grooming young captains at this level.

Northern and CP have strong squads but KP are a forced to be reckoned with.

I wonder if there is absolutely 0 cricket in baluchistan that they cant find 16 men to make up a squad from there...

It always ends up becoming a rest of pakistan team.

How many senior district teams does baluchistan have, anyone with any idea?

Good to see that Haseebullah will be playing for Balochistan should be playing all games.

Central will have 2 u19 player awais Ali and Qasim Akram.

Will be interesting to see how Haris carries his form into this format one to watch out for.

Nothern have the best young Pakistani players
Hurraira,Mehran Mumtaz,Mubasir Khan,Nasir Nawaz,Rohail Nazir is getting left behind for the second keeper slot in Limited overs he must perform.

Sindh
I can't waite to see Omair Bin Yousuf bat

Southern Punjab
Fasial Akram and Azam Khan two players I am looking forward to.

Atleast now they have a Genuine Wicket Keeper batesman.
Slightly Disappointed that Young shahzad from u19s wasn't picked.

I think it's just Kyhber who haven't picked anyone from u19s.

This was the hardest team to pick due to having decent young Pakistani players but also having players who have played for nothern before.I went with Hurraira over Ali Imran as I think they need someone who can bat throw the Innings.I also picked Mubasir who can bowl spin and bat instead of Umar Amin and Mehran Mumtaz who are specialist bowler or batter.

Well at the rate KPK are picking up trophies I expect them to win the Pakistan Cup, Hockey World Cup, Ryder Cup and FIFA World Cup.

Will be shocked if they don't reach the final.

Abbas Afridi showed promise with his variations in the couple games he played for sultans. If he is not injured he should have been in the tournament

Its sad isn't it. Even a franchise is a joke as Quetta never has any local player.

Tournament not being televised?

As its is happening at the same time Pak vs Aus series is going on so there couldn't have been a slot for the tournament on the TV channels which have broadcast deals with PCB. However, all the matches in the Multan Cricket Stadium will be live streamed while as per PCB the decision to broadcast the semis and final will be taken in due course.

Also good opportunity for Nasir Nawaz and Ali Imran to start playing some big knocks to create impact and 50 overs cricket will give them that opportunity.

Game start 10 PKT

No live scorecard coverage it seems.

But there is no stream on pcb website too. They were suppose to show multan matches

Where are the matches?

I can somewhat understand not having live pictures for the Pakistan Cup today, but to not even have line ups and scorecards available via social media is incredibly, incredibly poor.

In previous years the domestic competitions were marketed as big deals. People now gave an interest in the domestic circuit, especially following the PSL. PCB cannot lose all that goodwill and momentum by ignoring the Pakistan Cup.
