What's new

Bangladesh are still minnows

Bangladesh have some decent youngsters.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz impressed me, but they need to make use of their home conditions much more.

Problem with BD youngsters is they just stop developing after a certain point, the likes of Soumya, Mosaddek, Liton, Mominul and others despite playing for years are still not dependable.

Bangladesh should prepare different types of pitches e.g. spinning and green(to help fast bowlers).Bangladesh bowling attack is one dimensional and relies too much on spin bowlers. Finally Bangladesh need to play more tests.

True, but Mehidy looks different than the other youngsters, he looks like he has a pretty high ceiling.

Soumya never really had a high ceiling to be honest. Liton had potential but no consistency.

What will be terrible for Bangladesh cricket is when Shakib + Mushfiqur retire, they won't have a solid middle order after that.

Bangladesh's victory over Sri Lanka today is their first win after a run of 9 losses and a draw in international cricket.

Bangladesh haven't risen up since 2015 like how they were expected to. They're still hovering around the same place. It's been 6 years since that monumental year but they have pretty much stagnated. The newer players aren't able to sustain their performances. It's still the core of Tamim, Mushfiq, Shakib and Mahmudullah that is doing all the work. Miraz is the only player that has been able to keep up with the development.
Sabbir and Soumya are still as inconsistent. Mustafiz and Taskin are still in an out of the team with varying form. Liton is an exciting prospect but remains to be seen if he will graduate to the next level or not.

Mashrafe's departure has left a big hole in the team from leadership point of view. Now their fab 4 are close to 35 apart from tamim and are close to the end than they are to the start.

They need to start making pitches receptive for fast bowlers in FC and LA. It will help the development of not just fast bowlers but test batters and spinners techniques and temperament.

I feel sad to say this because Pakistan is absolute terrible right now.

But BD is even worse. And that tells you all you need to know.

Bangladesh's golden generation (by their standards) will be gone in the next 3 years.

Even with them, they get beaten by Afghanistan and Zimbabwe and Ireland in Tests and ODIs over the years.

Let's see what happens without them.

It's no coincidence. As the Big 3 selfishly divert resources towards themselves the gap will forever widen between them and the rest. Cricket is effectively dead in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

If it can happen to Bang and SL then it could be gradually happening in South Africa, Pakistan and West Indies. Will you be saying "lets see what happens without them" then? Or would you be happy with cricket simply consisting of Big 3 series, ICC events (where only big 3 are competitive) and 16 team IPL's?

Bangladesh's economy is doing well, and with that comes more resources for the development of the game. I expect them to keep getting better.

Bangladesh's inability to produce more players of the quality of Shakib, Tamim, Mushfiqur etc. is their own fault. I don't know how BCB is doing financially but seeing the strength of their fanbase and Bangladesh's economy, it can't be that bad.

Saifuddin has made alot of difference. And should bat higher in the batting order

Bangladesh has new young talented seamers as well. They won the u19 world cup last year and should play the test team by now.

The batting is still reliant on mushfiq and shakib

Scratch that.

Even legitimate minnows (like Ireland or Afghanistan) don't want Bangladesh associated with them.

We need a new word here.

9th ranked team definitely could drop out of the top 10 the way they are playing.

Surely something needs to be done by ICC if Bangladesh fail to win any test match in this cycle as well. They didn't won any test in last cycle as well.
Maybe World test championship needs to habe 8 top teams only & Bangla can play in 2nd division with Afghanistan, Ireland & Zimbabwe.

They should still play test matches vs top teams but not in a test championship.

Man just the scorecard, this is humiliation of different level for Bdesh. If you can't save a test match after 2.5 days of rain, then u just don't deserve to play test cricket. What's Bdesh obsession with test cricket anyway? Considering they r so bad, why not just give up test cricket and focus only on limited overs formats.

There's no obsession otherwise the test matvhes would have been sold out.
IMO it's just a ego thing.

There is something wrong with the transition from U19 to senior cricket. Their U19s won the last world cup, their current U19 lot beat an India U19 by 180+ runs in a final yesterday. So talent isn't missing there.

Talent is missing they simply don't have any talent. If you see at their players their best ever player is probably Mushfiq or Shakib in test & both averages less than 40 in test cricket. This shows you that they simply don't have any talent at all.

Either the domestic system is so poor that the U19 youngsters can't make the transition to senior cricket or there is some serious age fudging going in junior levels.

Minnows of highest order..
Just look at their top order, filled with very ordinary left handers.. Better not to talk about their pace bowlers 🤦🏻*♀️
Afghanistan can easily beat these Bangladeshis anywhere in the world.

Is is their Board. They might be worse than Sethi's PCB

Surely, they have had really good players over the years. The boards president is messing with star players to boost his ego and it shows on the field.

Still minnows. Getting beaten at home by Zimbabwe is utterly minnowesque. Zero talent nation :inti

Interesting to see that PAK bhais had similar opinions for years too as evidenced by the comments in this thread :amla

Wow ever since that Indian puppet has gone BD have been getting thrashed left and right except by PCT ofcourse.

Bangladesh is a minnow without a doubt.

We are not immature and insecure like the Indians. We are comfortable with the truth. :inti

Calling Bangladesh minnow is like saying "sky is blue" or "Bumrah possibly chucks". :inti

Why state the obvious over and over? :inti

toygers were always minnows and will always stay minnows. They are the worst sporting nation of all time. In fact they are the most talentless people on this planet earth. There is other significant sized country which is worse than BD l, absolutely none. Only thing this talentless country excels is in cringe dances and empty chest thumping.

@sweep_shot I see you’ve rattled a few posters here

They are very easy to rattle. :qdkcheeky

One or two sentences generally do the job. They are like 2 year old kids in terms of maturity.
The irony and denial in these posts are mind blowing, lmao.

You guys are like toddlers who when they lose an argument, suddenly go on a nonsense tangent and when adults get fed up and move on, you believe you have won the argument.

And then PAK went and got themselves embarrassed 2-0 at home. Never in my life have I felt more embarrassed to be a Pakistan cricket team fan. Not even after they lost to Ireland and USA.

That BD team was full strength. It had Shakib, Litton, Shoriful etc.

This team has some key players missing.

Keep in mind, BD also drew against NZ home and away. :inti

Dear Indian posters,

We acknowledge Bangladesh is a minnow just like we acknowledge sky is blue, Bumrah needs to get tested, and India's CT 2025 win is tainted. :inti:inti

During Pakistan tour, Shakib was so bad that you were clamouring for him to get dropped.

Now that you lost at home to Zimbabwe without Shakib

" We were not at full strength". 🤡

And defaming tigers....

Even individual windies islands should have got better cricketers and better talent than these talentless, brainless and shameless bng players
