What’s the Under 19 talent level in Pakistan at present. In recent years i have noticed Bangladesh and now Afghanistan is sending some strong teams in junior level tournaments like these so they clearly are coming with a nice pool of young talent.

I’m asking this because when i started watching cricket, Pakistan’s. under 19 were considered the best. Yes there were allegations of age fudging but whatever

Recent under-19 performances of Pakistan in world cup is average.

Recent under-19 performances of Pakistan in world cup is average.

They were a dangerous Under 19 team back in the day.

Bharat won in 2000 and then we were mediocre compared to them for like almost a decade until Virat Kohli won us an Under 19 World Cup and ever since then we have been a strong side.

Yes some people will bring up Irfan Pathan/Piyush Chawla era team to be good but Anwar Ali destroyed us with cobra swing in the final let’s not forget that.

Agreed the top 3 are also quite talented along with Arafat minhas. Let's hope we get a couple of long term players from this batch. Would like to mention Amir Hasan who looks a very good prospect too

From what I've seen Shamyl Hussain is a good prospect... One to keep an eye on... Shades of Yuvraj Singh

Tilak Bhandari is gone as Nepal have lost their 1st wicket for 10. Amir Hussain has checked the wicket column.

Ubaid Shah has trapped Aakash Tripathi in front and Nepal is 2 down now for 25.
Beautiful in-dipper from Ubaid. Superb delivery.

Both of the opening pacers are crap with no potential , let's see how M.Zeeshan bowls.

We used to have atleast 2 good pacers from our every U19 batch but not the case this time sadly.

Zeeshan is an absolute monster , Nice pace and bounce he has definitely improved since his PJL outing.

The thing about Zeeshan is that even if he doesn't bowl at extreme pace he will still be deadly. If he consistently bowls 130 kph plus he is dangerous.

Big guy, Muhammad Zeeshan has taken a wicket as Nepal lose their 3rd wicket. Some extra bounce for this tall fast bowler.

I hate to say that But Ind U19 left arm pacer Naman is atleast 10k quicker than Pak U19 opening pacers and he bowls with M.Amir action , another pacer Raj bowls with similar speed to our U19 pacers.

That Naman guy deserve a thread on his own , consistently bowling between 138-145K from what I observe but when it comes to effectiveness I think Zeeshan is better even though is slow.

Lol I have heard this before every single u19 tournament for the last decade. Btw is this match being telecasted?

They should rest M.Zeeshan otherwise he will singlehandedly bundle Nepal out for 80 or 90 runs , We should be chasing big score to get practice for India match.

Man!, he is tall, Ma sha Allah

All three pace options are decent with some potential.
Ubaid moves the ball both ways like his brother and a bit taller it seems

I don't know who was hyping Ubaid Shah , he is not even good enough to get a FC team , seems to be operating between 120-125k with his effort delivery touching 130k and is not consistent with his line and even though he swings the ball both ways but his action and runup for inswing and outswing is completely different which makes him extremely predictable to the batsmen.

Bro just go and watch Afg and Ind U19 match on youtube and see Ind U19 pacers , you will take back your opinion.

Mohammad Zeeshan is bowling a fantastic spell here. Pace, bounce and swing is all here for this tall right arm bowler. Nepal is 62/5 ATM.

Yep Zeeshan is extremely good and might end up being the highest wicket taker in the worldcup as it is in Saf.

Watched a few overs. None moved the ball off the seam like Ubaid and no one is close to threatening as Zeeshan has looked.
All three of our pacers have moved the ball.
Remember these are not finished products.
Expect improvements in pace and accuracy

yep Zeeshan looked the most threatening bowler of out of teams but Naman guy from Ind U19 is seriously quick and bowls with M.Amir action but doesn't move the ball at all.

Pakistan really needs to break this partnership which is already of 60+ runs ATM.

I hate how some of the boys jump all over Zeeshan when they celebrate. He needs to be protected as at his height is likely injury prone.

Mohammad Zeeshan has finished the innings of Nepal U19 with the figures of 6/19. Total domination and was unplayable. Brilliant.
Nepal are all out for 152.

Mohammad Zeeshan's outstanding spell helps Pakistan U19 start with a win at ACC U19 Asia Cup 2023

Pakistan U19 began their ACC U19 Asia Cup 2023 campaign on a high note after defeating Nepal U19 by seven wickets at ICC Academy Ground No 2 in Dubai. Right-arm quick Mohammad Zeeshan registered a six-wicket haul to help dismiss Nepal U19 for 152 in 47.2 overs. In turn, Saad Baig-led Pakistan U19 chased 153 in 26.2 overs with seven wickets to spare.

Pakistan U19’s decision to bowl first paid dividends as Zeeshan ran through the Nepal batting line-up. The 18-year-old pacer picked up six wickets at the expense of 19 runs, registering the second-best figures at this level for a Pakistan bowler, bested only by Shaheen Shah Afridi who registered 6-15 against Ireland in 2018.

He was supported well by his fellow quicks as left-armer Amir Hassan grabbed two wickets and right-armer Ubaid Shah had one to his name. Left-arm spinner Ali Asfand got a wicket too.

Nepal U19 opening batter Arjun Kumal contributed 21 from 37, including three fours, and was the only top-order batter to register a score in double digits. Fifth batter in, wicketkeeper-batter Uttam Magar produced a gritty half-century, hitting 51 from 76 balls including three boundaries and two maximums.

Left-hander Dinesh Kandel, who came to crease after the fifth wicket fell, stitched a 70-run stand with Magar, to help stable the innings. The partnership was cut short by Zeeshan, who removed Kandel for 31 from 59, including two fours and a six.

Chasing 153, Pakistan U19 faltered a little at the start. Right-arm pacer Gulshan Jha struck twice as opening batter Shamyl Hussain was caught for a duck and his fellow opener, Shahzaib Khan, joined him back in the pavilion shortly after, scoring only 15 from 29 including two boundaries.

Pakistan U19 captain Saad Baig (50, 56b, 5x4s) and Azan Awais (56 not out, 62b, 8x4s) batted together to yield a 108-run stand that brought the chase back on track. In the 24th over, Saad was caught off Aakash Tripathi’s bowling.

Zeeshan, who had earlier starred with the ball, then hit a fiery 20 from just eight balls, showcasing two fours and as many sixes. For his extraordinary all-round performance, Zeeshan was named man of the match.

Pakistan U19 are set to play against India U19 on 10 December at ICC Academy Ground with the first ball set to be bowled at 1030 PKT.

Scores in brief:

Pakistan U19 beat Nepal U19 by seven wickets

Pakistan U19 153-3, 26.2 overs (Azan Awais 56 not out, Saad Baig 50, Mohammad Zeeshan 20 not out; Gulshan Jha 2-54, Aakash Tripathi 1-8)

Saw bits of Zeeshan and he looked very quick, it maybe the batsman were late on the ball but there was no doubting his bounce. The PCB needs to look after this lad like Australia would do.
