saffer said:Bangladesh are well on top....unless they collapse they could...even should...win this game . The pitch is only going to get worse . Oh well good for them .....I can't read too much into it as a saffer supporter .A case of us having a bad day and them having a great one I suppose .
Bangers came very close to beating Australia in the first Test over there on tour - we were very lucky to get out of it. On their day (or days) the Bangas are a good side.
Saffies not starting series very well lately hey Saffer?
saffer said:You said it.....although we've won the last 6 or 7 series in a row we've dropped the first game more often than not . It's very strange in that we've been dominant through almost every session against the opposition ...must be a psychological thing . Against India , England and Australia later this year we can't afford to keep doing this nonsense .
Dayle steyn has 98 wickets in 19 tests at the moment @ 22.31 ....the boys going to be a great if he stays injury free .
He is closing on the Waqar record yeah?
saffer said:What is the actual record ? I think he might be close to he fastest to 100 wickets but i'm not quite sure .

Waqar did it in 20 Tests so 2 more for Steyn in this Test would beat that.
Of modern players Botham and Andy Roberts got 100 wickets in their first 19 Tests.
long way off.
the fastest is 16 tests - the 1st 5 on that list were all pre-war. bowlers routinely averaged 6 wickets per test on an average in those lowscoring times.
since the war, alf valentine, the caribbean leftarmer did it in 17.
botham, andy roberts both did it in 19 - waqar missed it by a whisker, getting there in his 20th test.
i remember coz i followed that test LIVE- and what a cracker it was! Hamilton, 1992-93.
Kiwis chasing 127 for victory on day 3, waqar blew through them.
picked up 5 for 22, nine in the match. ended with 102 at the end of his 20th. great, great game.
Perth93 said:damn- why has steyn been taken off??
he could easily wipe out another 2 and get to the landmark!issed:
Because South Africa have the great Graeme Smith as captain - probably took Steyn off to show "discipline"
JustAnotherFan said:Well done Kallis on that haul. 5 wickets for 20 runs in that spell. Shows why you are the best all-rounder ever.
I'm just rubbing in the salt in the wounds in some guys who still fantasize about Kapil Dev, Richard Hadlee, Ian Botham and Imram Khan.Amir said:

Steyn had been bowling all morning in fairness .

Seeing that Aussies know everything ... prove to me statistically which batsmen all-rounder is better ...Random Aussie said:JAF you are absolutely dreaming![]()

saffer, get yourself an icepack.
u guys havnt lost this one yet, you know.
cmon bangers cmon!
saffer said:Hey...that's not me !!
But I do agree that Kallis is the best alrounder currently playing and if you look at his statistics objectively the best that has ever played . If you disagree you're challenged to bring up the career stats of any other play and prove your point . I don't think such a player exists .
Need 24 runs with 6 wickets S.a will probably escape this without too much egg on the face . Still Bangladesh can hold their heads high .
kallis is easily the most complete allrounder after sobers and botham.
the only area he suffers is in spirit - never really imposed his will on the opposition. although this season seems to have revived his desire.

Monsee said:Botham, a complete All Rounder?)
What was his record after his earlier years when he was able to beat the weak teams from Pak/India etc...when he came across WI, he came out a complete crapper?
Imran, is what a complete All Rounder looks like!
Batting/Bowling/Fielding (nothing spectacular but still not too shabby)/Captaincy (so good that many consider him as one of Best Captains ever including Ian Chappal, Beneud etc.)
saffer said:That's opinion and opinions are subjective . He has a better record than both objectively speaking . I think he deserves just a little bit of credit for this amazing feat .
