Watched Vicky Donor last night.

Hilarious.

Not family viewing but entertaining none-the-less. The specialist Doctor was just comedy gold.

Any movie which doesn't rely on A-Listers and still manages to pull it off is a fantastic achievement.

really good man. it is bitter truth but he was getting really sick since last year and so, moreover his recent fracture of femur did not help either. i still remember he used all his life savings and had no money for food and medicine where a tv channel spread the news and then fake superstars promised to help him out but we all know what happened. I saw his funeral pictures and did not see any so called big superstars showing up for respect which is really sad.
nevertheless a very nice person and really liked him since i was 9 as he reminded me of someone real special in my life. may Allah forgive him.

Watched Ek Tha Tiger the other day. Enjoyable film, the action was superb. However thought, the storyline could have been better - and I expected more considering how much hype there was, still a very good film though.

Looking forward to Dabangg 2 & Amir's upcoming two films.

A Wonderfull wonderfull Movie!!!! Sweet, Simple, Sublime....real....Brilliantly made movie.

I will just go ahead and say, this is easily one of the best bollywood movies I have seen in recent times.

Aishwarya Rai's best performance, Ajay Devgan does what he does best...I wish he comes back to doing stuff like this rather than trash like golmaals, singham!!

Not usual Hindi cinema with songs and stuff, direction everything is top class. Movie would have done really well if it would have come now, when bollywood is more open to real,subtle cinema which is seldom found in Indian cinema...

Rating: 9/10 !!!

Alright, while I don't watch much Bollywood movies so am not aware of most songs that are out these days, I have to say that the soundtrack for the movie Barfi is just awesome. I somehow ended up listening to songs from this movie while I was browsing for some new music, and am now addicted. I pretty much like all the songs from the film.

Joker as expected is a biggest disaster of all time.... No wonder Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha did not promote the movie at all. Not even one interview, one statement. Who even does Sirish Kunder's movie after Tees Maar Khan...

Not a lot of promotion from the production house UTV...they are busy promoting Kareena Kapoor's Heroine all over India...while it is just Ranbir,priyanka and ileana doing odd promotions here and there for barfi. I guess they are relying on ranbir kapoor's status and word of mouth for the movie since it is a relatively less budget film compared to heroine.

But the promos are a hit with the people...so after a long time one of the movies which people will go into the theatres to see due to their wish to see...than for promotional overdose(Ek tha riger, ra one )

Rani Mukherjee is Baaack!!!!!!!!! ....Move is Written by Anurag Kashyap ....and produced too !!!!!... she still has an amazing screen presence and does not look out of touch like Zinta and looks amazing as a filmy melodramatic over the top character !!! Decent song after a couple of hearings...but no where near Songs from Fashion... Yeh Jalwa, Marjaawan and Kuch Khaas hain from Fashion were great tracks..Could never Forget Kangana Walking down the ramp suddenly turning into a super model for a backstage arrogant drama queen and Yeh Jalwa song Starts. I think Madhur has comprimised a lot creatively for commercial look of the film. Kareena Looks Hot at places....will be suprised if the movie as good as any of previous Madhur's work. Kareena looks like has acted well from looks of theatrical trailer though....

Haha. The whole album of Barfi is leagues ahead of any music pritham has done. Even though there are a lot of songs he has lifted....I think his original work was quality from the beggining of his career. but most of them typical bollywood songs...Dhoom series, Race, Love aaj Kal,new york, once upton a time in mumbai, mausam etc..

But with Barfi...he has jumped leagues...for now songs look original..because it usually takes one day after release of music ...for the media/listeners in youtube to pick up if the song has been copied from somewhere....for now brilliant work !!! best album of the year ...by miles!!

Barfi, directed by Anurag Basu is undoubtedly one of the best and intelligent films to be churned out in a long time. Accepting oneself with all shortcomings, loving each other and smiling your way all the way upto the finish line - this is how one can describe Barfi!
Barfi inspires, moves and delves into the inner strength of individuals. Once the curtains are drawn, you are left behind with a feeling of joy and peace.

Verdict:Barfi is a film you can watch and enjoy with family and friends. You can see a bit of you, and a bit of everyone close to you! It might not do great at the box office, but nevertheless....we suggest that you don't miss it as Barfi celebrates life!

There has to be something really special about a movie with two of the lead characters disabled in some way and the third always missing something in her life, and yet it never bogs down the movie or the story. Barfi! is lovely in a touching way that is difficult to define.

It’s difficult to have two disabled characters and not portray their stereotype or make the audience feel pity for them. But Anurag Basu does it skillfully with the script and story. He builds the characters so finely that you come to love each and every one of them by the end of the movie.

Barfi! leaves you with that warm, cuddly, magical feeling with a few tears to match. It’s really worth a watch.

On the whole, BARFI! is unusual for Bollywood. You don't formulate movies like BARFI! targeting its box-office potential or its commercial prospects. You create such films for the passion of cinema. BARFI! is akin to a whiff of fresh air. Its foremost triumph is that it leaves you with a powerful emotion: Happiness! I sincerely believe, no Hindi movie buff should deprive himself/herself of watching this brilliant motion picture. Also, the viewer needs to savor Ranbir, Priyanka and Ileana's paramount performances, one of the strengths of this movie. Strongly recommended!

Now, imagine a film without sex, violence or a screenplay from the south. Also, throw in a pre-condition that the hero and the heroine wouldn’t speak a word in the film. Any director attempting to make such a movie must be prepared to put his career in a coffin before taking his first shot. But people who have succeeded ended up creating a masterpiece. Barfi is just that – a masterpiece which is comparable to India’s best films.

When everybody is busy making remakes of south films, thinking of a film like Barfi requires tremendous courage. Absolute courage, because you never know if the audience will reject your film and you will end up in a trash can with other directors who have ventured off the beaten track. Anurag has shown grit and courage to go full throttle with a subject like Barfi where he portrays the life of a deaf and dumb young boy and makes you laugh even at the grimmest of situations.

This film will not excite you or thrill you but will melt your heart.

Playing an autistic character is a dicey zone but Priyanka Chopra is excellent in her portrayal and never goes overboard. Her mannerisms, body language or the naivety that she brings to her character is brilliant. Ileana DCruz is gorgeous, has solid screen presence and makes a graceful debut. She is as much compelling in her act. Saurabh Shukla has a meaty role as the roly-poly investigating cop and does justice to it. Ashish Vidyarthi, after a hiatus, is seen in a strong character role. Roopa Ganguly, Akash Khurana and Haradhan Bandopadhyay are good in their respective roles.

The simplicity and sweetness of this Barfi will often leave a lump in your throat. And its superiority will leave you speechless!

Just came back from the movie.....Whole movie is a poetry.

A very simple Story...with Very Real lovable characters...in a very real innocent setting of 1972 Kolkatta....A very interesting Non linear narration of the movie...three periods of 1972, 1978, and present day happening simultaneously.....

What makes the movie great is innumerable scenes in the movie where you just smile... not laugh..but a smile......

The 30 min of interaction, love story between the autistic priyanka and a dumb,deaf ranbir is just brilliant....and interactions between Ileana and Ranbir is so sweet..

Ranbir Kapoor just killed with his acting as a deaf,dumb boy.....but never ever evokes symapathy towards his disability....couple of his breakdowns were great...

Priyanka Chopra was brilliant in her portrayal as well....

In a movie with an autistic girl, a deaf/dumb man..and a very rich sweet normal girl...and the real person struggling in the movie is Ileana...and she has that sweetness required....her action during her indecisiveness stuited the movie to perfection..

Saurabh Shukla, Rupa Ganguly, Ashish Vidyarthi suited their role...

Atleast half of the movie is with out dialogues..and back ground music given by pritam elivates many scenes.....Directory uses silence to perfection as well...

Kokkatta over the years...I likes how that one hoarding in that area symbolizes the change in kolkatta over the years.....

Only negative thing is half way through the second half you kinda guess the suspense....

other than that I have absolutely nothing negative to say....watch barfi for the sublime poetry, for characters which enjoy smaller things in life, for cinematography ....for directorial brilliance....for extra ordinary music..and incredible actors....

My Rating: 9 /10 ....Barfi is Sweet!!!!

IMAX is planning to build 10 IMAX theatres accross India by end of 2013(which will be release of Dhoom 3)...and 8 more by the end of 2014 !!!

Shooting happening in Chicago now ...aamir Khan and katrina action sequences being shot....parallelly Katrina kaif is also going to Acro dancing classes for the movie!!

Should be great.....especially with Aamir involved..

I think you meant converted because filming with IMAX cameras is costly even for hollywood blockbusters, Bollywood is couple of decades away from using them.

Movie released on Friday itself.....Mixed reviews....very high prise for Kareena's performance.....Movie started of with very good collections too..especially on second day..I believe 15 crores by saturday...

Movie however...watched it on friday night itself.....is typical bhandarkar...caricature characters....shallow rich people.....irritating gay men..and does not add any insight to bollywood other than what normal people know by reading a bad tabloid magazine......characters are unidimensional...and mostly were dissapointing....it is only Kareena's performance and her BO pull that will save this movie ......and not to forget a gazillion cheap remarks against her co heroines like Priety Zinta, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Shilps Shetty. It is a very very bad remake of Fashion...I give it 2/ 5...most of it for Kareena..she was brilliant!!!! Madhukar Bhandarkar did nothing to the movie....no research...no effort.....he personally is done as a director untill he comes out of his template since page 3!!!!


I felt bad for Kareena..coz this movie was very important to her career as she is getting married...and has already lost a few big movies due to the marriage....but BO seems to be doing good.

I guess you are right, news video I saw in NDTV did not mention it...or may be missed it..India today says they will be digital Media remastering Technology(DMR)...both in 2D and 3D!!!

Yeah...

There is a dialogue about saying heroine who do not have movie offers anymore just go and date a bussinessman(ness wadia) and buy an IPL team..

And then in 2006 Yuvraj/Dhoni were both trying to win over Deepika...and she used to get box invites to many games...and through that she was all over the news too..and her celeb status increased...and KAreena's PR in the movie asks her to do the same and get close a young upcoming cricketer...


And then about a heroine who goes a reality show and wins and then marries a NRI bussinessman (Raj Kundra and Shilpa)

and then Katrina kaif....in coffee with karan deepika mentions about katrina's passport...and movie talks about it..

and there are many things in the movie which the tabloid magazine has...no real insight at all...you can pick up toi and tabloid magazines of last 2 years and make that movie....

Barfi

Saw the movie this weekend. Quite different from the usual Bollywood Masala. Lots of ideas copied but the end result is quite good.

Lol,It could have been easier third umpire if you just said you did not watch bollywood .....Barfi if anything is a very subtle movie....and chaplinesque in nature with physical comedy..and light subtle comedy mixed...Everybody's characters are underplayed...but ranbir kapoor has a chaplinesque role because he cannot communicate..and has to use his body to communicate...And most of the "inspired/copied" scenes are small scenes mostly song montages or small 45 second scenes...even those are from chaplin/silent movies....and director did acknowledge they have inspired from chaplin/silent movies...is going to represent india in the oscars...although I thought "Paan Singh Tomar" would have been a way better choice. Movie makes you smile..watch it.
