Why try to hit SIX when you only need 2 runs
He wanted to prove that he was the next Dhoni who wins matches by hitting a 6 in the last ball / last over .
I noticed, the same thing, stumping wasn't given wide!! I thought it was just me not paying attention!!!!!
At least Donald attempted to get a run

i will say, its bad luck for Team BD, in my opinion, they are the best team in asian countries. one defeat doesnt mean anything, they are improving side.
Absolutely disgusting and selfish batting. Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah went for the glory shots when all they needed is to tap it for two singles.
How can you not win needing 2 runs off 3 balls. Appalling.
2 runs to get off 2 full tosses mind you which they could have hit anywhere they liked but straight to the fielders hands going for glory
Dude only Riad's was a full toss. Go check the video
The criticism remains, he could have hit that wherever he wanted. Cowardly batting.

Improving since last 25 years and still didnt know to take a single when 2 needed of 3 balls they are minnows and will remain that way.
I am so much more hopeful for Afghanistan.

In the same position, Afghanistan, Ireland, Netherlands would have crossed it.
well you can say it was down to brainfeeze, it happens sometimes. Yes it was painful to watch as a BD fan
But you can't really expect Afghanistan to replicate what we have done. Afghanistan had an easier group, they could have beaten SL and England, yet they didn't get too close to winning.
Oh ofcourse we are not doing anything with what has been given to us. We only managed to win a series against minnows Pakistan, SA, India, compete in tests against SA, Pak, qualify for Asia Cup final and not to mention make teams like Australia and India struggle despite losing 2 key bowlers in the "middle" of the tournament. And all this in the space of 13 months
Yes we are minnows.
I am not denying that Ireland, Afghanistan are good, but people have this delusion that Ireland Afghanistan will develop much more quickly than us. Maybe they will peak quickly but we have a higher peak given the resources we have which Ireland-Afghanistan, unfortunately don't. I am a big supporter of associate cricket too.
But downplaying the achievement of a team and making baseless assumptions don't help. Fans forget that cricket itself is a difficult game and it takes a few decades to become a good side. There is only one exception which is Sri Lanka.
Just an example, Ireland have played in 2014 and 2016 T20 world cup and has 1 win in 6 matches, and that 1 win was against UAE. Now this is a team that has played in 09, 10 and 12 WT20 as well including beating us back in 2009 WT20 and you would assume that they will overtake us in the T20 format right because they play far more T20s than us, though against associates. People are only good as making hypothetical comments without much backing.
You have a fair point by mentioning that we were given test status prematurely. Hard to ague with that, but you could say that we had it coming because we made a lot of progress between 94-99. Afghanistan don't have any scope of hosting professional cricket matches and Ireland don't have much earning potential and have test matches televised. Bangladesh can, easily. Now ofcoure, i still want Ireland and Afghan to get test statuses soon, but more importantly, get to play more T20s and ODIs, and more fairer qualifcation for the World cups

That's why dhoni is the best limited overs captain ever and you are noteven a street match would have a simpler end...
1) Why would 2 batsmen who have had so much international experience do this
2) with Dhoni, u need 2 of 3 balls, wouldnt u bring in all the fielders inside the 30 yard circle? I would and thts the common sense.... unless.....
too much fishy things in there to avoid...![]()
For those going bonkers and losing their head around it. Bangladesh isn't the first team to choke like this.
Never forget!
[Utube]T0mu07Fwh9w[/Utube]
I know they were tail, but still only 1 run needed to tie and 2 to win. Lols.
This is called cricket.
Every team has choked at some way or another. This kind of games drag us back to the game again and again.
For the thrill!
I remember in that 355 chase last year in the 4th ODI vs England. Malik and Sarfraz were rollicking along to gun it down with about 90 runs needed and run rate to down to run a ball - very manageable stuff. Malik struck a fifty, and then got a nice full toss by that big oaf Topley and lobbed it to midwicket for a catch
History could've been rewritten that day, and new legends created but not to be.
I guess sometimes the most dangerous delivery is full toss. Bradman said that IIRC.
Possibly the most unbelievable match of my life! Wow, I still can´t believe, and the match was the first thing that I thought of after waking up today.
I had been complaining the last two-three days that, although we have had quite good matches so far, but that one-run or last-ball thriller hasn´t quite come our way yet. Well, I got my wish but it involving MS Dhoni was the last thing I could have wished for.
Incredibly lucky, India. Punjabi Muslims often give the name "Allah Ditta" to the newborns, well, here´s a match that India should give the same name to. Still, one thing I must give them credit for in the last over was their fielding. They held onto their chances under extreme pressure and that catch by Ravindra Jadeja was very good. Fielding in general was good the last four-five overs, coming to think of the amount of ground Rohit Sharma covered outside the circle on the off-side, although they did drop three chances overall.
Poor UP got trolled big time by the Bangladesh batsmen. He punched the floor in delight when Mushfiqur Rahim paddle-swept the third ball for four.
It is, because if you don't middle it you are screwed but that batsman could have hit it wherever he wanted and it wasn't as if he needed a chukkah. One thing I got to say is that, the bowler deserved the wicket for his determination to nail the yorker, even if he didn't pull it off it's the mindset. It's the same mindset that helped Gul win the World Cup for Pak, Yorker is the ultimate delivery in T20 cricket.
Oh well am not bothered anymore, we couldn't beat India that's all I wanted in this tournament) and BD had to job out, do you think anything fishy could have gone on
![]()
Pun intended?![]()
Yep but it was an unintentional one) So street cricketer, who will India destroy in the world cup final

Yes they did but you have to undestand the circumstances...
Bangladesh played the 3 games before that in high altitude (cold weather) and English condition... suddenly they are flown to Calcutta, had a day of practise and asked to play against pakistan (the team who not only played practise matches on the ground but also used the same pitch)..
Which is kinda next door to BD, where your boys grew up and learnt their cricket.....you making it sound like your boys been playing in Canadian surrounds and then been jetted to Saudi deserts to play

The problem with some Fans in BD is, they think there team is Australia and they have far too much expectation on this team to beat sh*t out of every team which is not going to happen. They are far too emotional, We got to see crying tiger painted faces in all the matches. At first I thought the fans are passionate but in recent matches the fans seem to be annoying, ignorant to the reality.

you talk big then why you lost to NZ when you were in winning position ? just explain me this !Bangladesh should not play T20 cricket, instead they can try 1 over cricket, where they will choke everytime they need 2 runs in 3 balls, lol
the condition is the same as bangladesh... however once you have played and spent days in a different condition, it still needs a little getting used to. This is fact, you can talk to any players about it and get their views. You are making sound as if the Pakistan team that can hardly beat any decent sides (in recent times) all of a sudden became superman for a day.
Well the Pakistan team did become superman innit considering how they walloped your lot and Afridi pulled the chuddies off Mash. And if your team can't make the adjustment of Dhaka to Calcutta, I guess oh well...
Himachal to Kolkata.... huge difference. .

You are right, but that happens to every growing team in their rising state. If you are good reader of sports history, you 'll know how it was in West Indies in 30s, 40s; in Latin America on soccer, even in 60s, 70s - mass suicide took place in Brazil, Argentina, after a WC defeat, even in Final. The exuberance that I see in Bangladesh is great for the game - this is the way generation & heritage builds.
Now the esteem of mass in Bangladesh has changed from "almost we competed with IND/AUS" to "why didn't we win against IND/AUS" - the frustration 'll always be more expressive. It's very similar to what happened in African football in 80s, 90s. Even in India, 70,000 paid crowd came to watch on 5th day morning at Eden '1971 to see IND knocking 15 required to win a Test. It's not Hasina only - Pandit Neheru cancelled a Cabinet meeting to watch India beating England in 1952 Delhi Test. Opposite is when Eden crowd set fire on stadium facing defeat for IND (I am not talking 1996, check IND-AUS 1966). That's very common to a country, who had been in receiving & end & making their way up.
The reason for this over hype/expectation - most common people don't analyze the game the way we do, therefore they are exposed to more media mockery & false bravado than reality. The expectation barometer is based on emotion, always, rather than analysis; and these days cheap internet/access has brought the mass population into discussion panel, therefore it's rowdy & often classless. If you go to Pakistan, you 'll find majority still believing that Afridi holds the fastest century record.
Few years back, BD-IRL dead rubber was sell-out; this year I have seen half empty gallery against Pakistan, few years time you 'll see more polished crowd & more selective crowd. That's the transition of history - human life is too small, we can see only 20, 30, may be 40 years; but history has it's own path. One of Amol Palekar's best movie (Chupke Chupke) was built around IND-PAK hockey series - now, I am sure lot of young-men 'll laugh around that .......

A combination of bothYou know India will be knocked out or you hope India will be knocked out)
You are right and it is annoying...I completely agree...
But it is not any less annoying than watching indian fans buring effigy or Pak fans going over the burial ritual with a cricket bat ...
I dont know why few fans have a problem with BD rising in cricket. I mean a strong BD is fantastic for world cricket. We need to encourage them more. Agreed their fans are absolutely attrocious but what is the fault of class players like Mustafizur, Shakib, Tamim etc for few fans?? We must support BD and pray for their team to grow more. Also BD fans need to be more mature.
