Nawaz Sharif's lawyer made a statement in the supreme court hearing which is shocking. He said the speech of Nawaz Sharif in the national assembly was a political statement in other words he was just lying.

A prime minister who fails to defend corruption, money laundering charges against himself and lies to the nation, how can he still stay in power morally?

How can people sitting on tv channels like Talat Chowdhery,Saleem Safi and Najam Sethi defend such person?

And then people say ''come to the parliament to solve this issue'' :))

You have people on this forum saying: they know he is corrupt, they know he is a cheat but they will still vote for him. What else can be said?

the proofs he brought to court to defend charges against him and his family are so laughable..but he still gets to stay in power and still confused people like Talat chowdhery,Saleem Safi,Najam Sethid defend him. I can't believe which world I'm living in.

Politicians lie all the time, its basic requirement, one cannot survive in politics without it. Even best of PMs, most honest don't tell the whole truth, never ever.

and don't call his chammchaa's 'confused', they are in the know-how and very cunning. They are confusing you.

Didn't Bush and Blair start one of the costliest wars in US and UK history on the back of a blatant lie and go on to serve for another five and four years respectively?

Does the name Tony Blair ring a bell.

Blair lied and was ripped apart and forced to resign. Bush and his party were annihilated in the polls.

In Pakistani democracy Badshah Salamat is lining up to contest 2018 as prime minister candidate and positioning his daughter as prime minister candidate in 2023.

So lets not compare western democracy with Pakistani "jamhooriat"

that lie took time to establish. Here it is pretty much established that our prime minister is involved in corruption and has lied to the nation in assembly as his lawyer claimed in SC. so two different things.

There is no politician in Pakistan who isn't a liar or hasn't lied at some point in the past.

To answer the OP: yes he can, not only in Pakistan but in other countries as well and we do have examples.

but his lie is not a typical political statement. He was giving his defense of allegations raised against him which later his lawyer has claimed was just political statement.. so it's a different thing. I know politicians lie all the time but this is a different case.

It was an intelligence failure

not comparable here

No they weren't. They both won subsequent elections.

Bush was relected in 2004. Blair won the 2005 General election.

Bush stopped being President because the US allows only two consecutive terms for being President. Blair resigned because he had made promises to Brown many years previously that he would let Brown take over.

Neither stopped being the leader of their country due to the lies they told about WMD's.

..............while explaining his source of wealth accumulation. While trying to clear himself of corruption charges.
Foreign policy lies are different to the lies about one's income and wealth.

Well have you heard of a guy named Donald J. Trump? He lied about so many things that even he cannot remember half the stuff he said, and he's going to be the president of us of A!

Bottom line is, I think this year's election has shown the world that in this day and age, if you simply tell people what they want to hear they will vote for you. What DJT did was he identified his voter base, middle aged white men, and he played music to their ears. Samething Nawaz does in Punjab, he has the backing of the entire business community and land owners who pump enormous amount of money to support him. Imran's moral stance is much like Hilliary's election campaign, focused on the man in power and making his followers look "deplorables".
