If they do so...they might actually top the table :yk

Might be curtains for Lankans as we might assume that Bangladesh are not going to win any though they might give a tough fight

too early to predict a total and the we have the ability to collapse chasing small totals.

A win would be enough, Bangladesh winning two games in a row and with a better net run rate is very unlikely. So don't do anything silly, just chase this down comfortably. :)

Its too late now for bonus point. Why he did not let Ajmal bowl when SL were 4 down?
Stupid.

Let just try and win the game! forget anything else!

need to have run rate (3.78 *1.25 = 4.725 ) , LOL or more simply chase the total in 40 overs.

or probably in 37 overs if we cionsider the actual runrate of srilanka.

Very much doable ! The bowling and fielding did a great job - time for the batting to step in and make this into a perfect day.

Just to clarify, we will be in the final if we win this game, irrespective of the bonus point.

Actually, if we win this, and lose to India.

...and Bangladesh beat India and Sri Lanka, and atleast get one bonus point in the process, we will be out :misbah

If India wins on 18th march and Bangladesh beats both India and Sri Lanka, three teams will have 2 wins each.

Our batting is doing its best to make this a close fought match

Confusion over bonus point

Not that it matters since SL is out. Rule says that bonus point to be awarded to the team that achieves a run rate of 1.25 times that of the opposition. Today pakistan's RR was 4.74 and SL's RR was 3.76, a difference of less than 1. Both commentators and cricinfo say that Pak got bonus point. Am I missing something or have they got their calculation wrong?

My bad - 1.25 times not 1.25 difference. Lol

its the relative proportion of the run rates (higher divided by lower), not the difference.

@ESPNcricinfo: Pakistan are not actually yet in the final as Neo have announced. India-Bang final is still possible #asiacup

??

Yep, got it. They came pretty close to conceding bonus point in India game as well then (1.08). They have been extremely poor in this Asia cup.

Yeah we did.

SL's 188/50 = 3.76

3.76 X 1.25 = 4.7

189/4.7 = 40.1 overs

It was close, but we did it :misbah

More simply put for us oldies - don't you just have to score the target within 40 overs batting second?

Anway it won't make any difference - we are through to the final !

Yeah. Bonus points are based on an 80% rule.

Yes, if Bangladesh beat India and SL with a bonus point in each or at least one, and India beat Pakistan with a bonus point...

Actually, I just realised that NRR isn't that important anymore.

In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the final match or series will be determined as follows:

The team with the most number of wins
If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins
If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points
If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate

This means that for India and Bangladesh to qualify, Bangladesh would need to win BOTH India and SL with a bonus point and hope Pakistan loses to India.

If Bangladesh only gets 1 bonus point, it will tie with Pakistan on points and as Pakistan beat Bangladesh, Pakistan would qualify.

That's true, but India would also have to beat Pakistan with a bonus point. Just beating Pakistan won't work - the rules you quote are for teams finishing with the same number of points.

I wonder if the bonus point rule would have made a fairer contest in this WC.
