Yes,this was a thrilling victory.But do you think we can win in the semis against England with mediocre batsmen in the side?
 
I remember similar sentiments just a week ago.

"Do you honestly think we can win against South Africa?"
 
No.

I think it's hard enough to lose respectfully; if we could do that, it would suffice if we were at least competitive.
 
Highly unlikely, but they are not invincible and ruthless. I would rather face England in a knockout match rather than Australia or India. Having said that, it will be nothing short of a miracle if we can somehow scrape through.
 
To be honest I sincerely beleive we can.

Yes they are a very very good side bit we have beaten them last year in Sept 2016 her in Cardiff by chasing 302.

So its difficult but if we have done it before we can do it again.
 
20% chance based on the fact we beat England and Aus once in both 5 match series played in the last 6 - 12 months
 
Pak will be mauled and destroyed.

It's clear that Pak struggles to chase anything over 250.

England will score over 300even on a bad day. Their fielding will be top class. No 2nd chances. Wood and Plunkett will hit the pitch hard and will extract something.

England has been on fire. Simply unbeatable.

I would say bring in shadab khan. Shadab would be more effective thenfahim
 
I do, because the game isn't at Oval's road. This venue actually makes it much closer.

Still, Poms are massively favorite, but not that PAK should give a walk over. Batting first, this poor line-up can post a decent total (260+) - it won't be easy for any line-up to chase that against that 6 men bowling attack. If Shadab has a good day (basically, if he can land on spot), it won't be one sided for sure.
 
Who would have thought we will come this far after our first match :) Lets see what happens on Jun 14th
 
England are hot favourites, there is no doubt.

No matter how good your batting line up , if you're England you are due a collapse of some sort.

Pak are back at Cardiff, they know the conditions well now and will fancy their chances of an upset.

I honestly do think we can beat England :sharjeel
 
Bat first, score 300, get Root, Hales and Morgan cheaply. The likes of Stokes, Moeen, Buttler etc. may not be able to bail them out under pressure. Try to tie them down against spin.
 
Just on the train on the way back from the game. What an atmosphere and what drama. We bowled really well and I feel we have actually got a chance against England. Their style of attacking batting might suit us as once we get the ball to deviate after first 10 to 15 overs we will take wickets. They haven't faced our calibre of bowling yet. We need to bowl first and restrict them to 250 and batsmen will come good. I have faith. What a game today though. Fantastic crowd and hearts in our mouth. That's what makes supporting Pakistan so good though.

They've been unbeaten so far in this tournament. Why would they be under pressure? that too against us? LOL.. England will be cautious and not overconfident.. but I'm sure they'll walk into to play with assured confidence.
 
No, but if the pitch in Cardiff will be the same one they've used today then it may offer some spin and give us a chance as England can look vulnerable against spin. They haven't played Shadab Khan and I'd personally play him instead of Imad Wasim.

If its a flat track and a batting shootout then we're going home as we simply cannot compete in that kind of match as we don't have the firepower.

The template has been set with our wins over SAF and SL, restrict the opposition to a low total and hope our batsmen can chase it. Pacers are in good form.

No team can be invincible, though England are pretty damn nigh. It's their batting which will decimate us, unless our bowlers have their day.

Our colonial masters will maul every one of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, directly or indirectly, and history will repeat itself. Just in a different way.

Stokes is arguably the best cricketer on the planet at the moment alongside Kohli, but he cannot do it every time. He is due a failure.
 
A 275+ total with an impeccable bowling and fielding display (everyone needs to be spot on) will do it.

The 275 batting total is where the trouble is at.
 
Let's face it, we will lose. While we do have a chance, selection of the wrong XI and persistence with Hafeez and Azhar Ali takes out any chances of Pakistan doing well.
 
They will destroy us, unfortunately. If our batsman can't handle SL pacers then they will kill us.

35-3 and they destroyed Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood.
 
Highly unlikely, England are by far the most balanced side in this tourney and they don't look like being stopped, they came back from 4 down for next to nothing against Australia and that speaks volume for their depth. Having said that it all depends on the day doesn't it? And which Pakistan turns up. I think we have a chance, albeit a very small one if we chase AND our bowlers turn up in the first innings like they have done against SA and SL.
 
a team cannot win without a batting

even if bowlers restrict to say 100, our batting can collapse very easily
 
I think RUmman Raees could be bought in as a gamble in place of Fahim. Also drop imad for Shadab. But doubt this would happen.

SA have been our whipping boys in ICC Tournaments,I personally believed that we will win against them.Against SL most people believed we would win.

But England is on a whole other level

england team is not formidable, they are just as vulnerable as any team, gone were the days when teams used to be vulnerable, but against pakistan without any decent batsmen, their chances are higher
 
Bowl first, restrict england to 280. Pray for bit of rain so game reduced to 25 overs and target of 150. :misbah3

Shadab for Imad who is useless with the bat, only problem is that Fahim would be worse with the ball than Imad. Hard decision, maybe we have to pray that Imad fires with both ball and bat, bring back Shadab and hope for a spinner friendly pitch.
 
For a ICC event, order of precedence for PAK (in reverse order) for me is

1. IND
2. AUS
3. Poms (recent development, 3 years back this one was at 6)
4. WI (even now)
5. NZ
6. SRL
7. BD

170. SAF
 
Unlikely...bit with azhar and hafeez out?..Yes.

As we can only do with the squad we have...
Id say bring hafeez up, drop azhar and haris at no 4.

Allah seems to love India more, and I would prefer losing the semifinal to England (who will beat India in the final) rather than lose another final to India.
 
England need to have a shocker and Pakistan have to play out of their skins.

England are playing excellent cricket and have dominated better sides.

I stopped believing after "Bat first, score 300."
 
Beating England is hardest thing in this tournament, but we have to play better team and batting line up...

Don'ts

1. Both Azhar and Hafeez cannot be in top 4.
2. We cannot have both Hafeez and Immad playing, they both are average spinners (both #5) and cannot bat against quality seamer, pick only 1.

Dos:

1. Shadab should play instead of Immad, as getting rid of Hafeez is monumental task it seems.
2. Babar looks under pressure, let him bat at #4, Sarfraz at #3, move Hafeez to #5.
3. Fahim is a must and should bat higher than Immad, his batting looks much better than Immad/Shadab. He is the only one who looks like can wack seamers.
 
5% chance of beating England

Even if we bowl out of our skins England will still get 275 min which we will never chase
 
Its the same ground and the pitch will play very similarly with the ball stopping a bit. 270 would be a good total batting first for Pak.
Pak will have to rely on spinners to choke England out - get Hales, Root, Morgan and Stokes cheaply and Pakistan are init with a chance.
 
If we bat first, at maximum we won't score more than 260-70 which England will chase down in 45 overs

We need to bowl first and get them out cheaply.

If England bowl first they will chase anything we throw.
 
England will make sure there is no dryness in the wicket, no spin, no reverse for us...

Today was freshly prepared pitch, what pitch will be used on Wednesday??

From the people who put their money where their mouth is, Pakistan victory is a bit more likely than a BD win. The probabilities according to the bookmakers Betfair:

England 70%, Pakistan 30%
India 75%, Bangladesh 25%

rumman or fahim they will feast on both...but go with fahim for his batting, he looks a better batsman than azhar and hafeez especially in ODIs..
 
Of course, like all rational Indians, I will be rooting for a Pakistani victory.

As I said in the other thread, not many thought you could beat NZL in the 1992 WC Semi Final. So no question of not believing.

I hope it starts to reverse and then Pakistan can make England sweat.

Bowl first and try to chade it down, much like the last match against England last year when you guys chased down 300+.

Batting needs to come good, I desperately hope they play Haris Sohail in place of Hafeez.
 
I can't emphasize enough the importance of good fielding and bowling more than any other game... face it pak batting sucks... that is not gona improve right away.. the best chance for pak is to get them out cheap.

England has had perfect games past few matches... that means they r due for a bad game.. pak just need to capitalize and take all their chances..
