I also feel that Dhoni doesn't really trust Uthappa...

Could be (no one knows what goes inside Dhoni's head) but not sure about that.

Uthappa never made a rock solid case for himself.

Guys like him and Dinesh Karthik have been in and around the team but never nailed their spot down.

When you are not established, you need to be consistent like hell. Once you confirm your spot, you will be given lots of chances to redeem yourself. Uthappa never confirmed his spot.

All he needed to do was perform well in Australia now and he missed out a chance. Now Jadhav, Samson have a stronger case. With that being said, if he is crazy good in CLT20, he may have an outside chance of making the ODI squad but even if he does, its unlikely he will get a chance in the playing XI.
