Australia lost 5 Tests and won 1 since 20 July 2016.
Pakistan has lost 5 Tests and won 3 since 20 July 2016.

Australia's selectors ended the career of Adam Voges after 2 double centuries and 1 hundred in his last 11 innings outside Asia in the last 14 months.

Pakistan has retained Younis Khan after 10 failures and 1 double century in his last 11 innings outside Asia in the last 14 months.

Australia's selectors have discarded every player aged over 30, and have one 30 year old, Dave Warner.

Pakistan's selectors choose six batsmen in every Test, of whom two are in their forties and two are in their thirties. They also choose a fast bowler in Sohail Khan who is officially almost 33 years old and isn't fit enough to bowl above 130K in his second and third spells.

The new look Australia won their last Test.
The old look Pakistan has lost 3 in a row, to weak opposition.

Younis must go soon.

Misbah can still play as a batsmen to some extent.

The analogy with Aussie selectors is flawed because the level of Shield cricket is several times higher than first class cricket in Pakistan.

If Australia has replaced 5 blokes, they know those blokes are still up to international standard.

Throwing young batsmen like Umar Akmal , Babar Azam in front of Starc and Hazelwood on Australian pitches is just asking for them to be dumped once they fail.

You know what will happen when our newcomers fail?

Younis and Misbah will come back.

i think we have decent batting line up, people here are overacting, had we played on flat nzl pitches i doubt they have won even 1 match against us, all western nation knows asian team struggle on green tracks, so nzl played with a good strategy. But i believe this is best of the talent we have to tour Australia. We aren't producing good talent and we all know why, its easy to say lets pick him or new comers, but we all know they aren't that good, even likes of asad and azhar became decent batsmen after a long time being in the team, thanks to Misbah. So please stop overacting ppl and ask pcb to improve domestic cricket standard, plan tours preparation accordingly.

Yes, our selectors are poor and Inzy should've made some changes.

HOWEVER, Pak cannot just go back to domestics and choose the best performing/best averaging bats/bowlers. It simply doesn't work.

You'd most probably end up picking a domestic bully who can't play quality bowlers against the kookaburra.

our selectors are reactive more than proactive but it took a home embarrassment for Aussie selectors to act. if they had won against SA they wouldnt have changed too much and gone to India and got whitewashed again. Away flogging after flogging and the Aussies didnt really make wholesale changes. So not changing teams after away thrashings isnt exactly unique to Pakistani selectors. If we got embarrassed in UAE like Aus did against SA at home then i suspect the selectors would have made more changes.

Junaids what changes did the Australian selectors make after Sri Lanka?

No changes?

Getting humiliated at home is different for every team

Yeah, fair point.

It just frustrates me that Pakistan has the players to compete all the way in this series, but will put out a weaker team than it needs to.

These drop in wickets in Oz should favour our batsman. Also will be very hot unlike in NZ where the temp was in late teens at best.

Does the OP realize that Aussies have changed their selectors just recently so comparing policies and recent games is pretty pointless argument/discussion

Inzamam will be worse than Haroon. He does not have understanding about players.

Australia has changed one selector out of four, to be precise.

Can't compare with Australian cricket board with PCB.
Aussie Board is professional and make dynamic changes for future good while PCB doesn't give a damn and think for current series

Poor thread

Voges has barely played 20 tests and dropping him was no big deal.

Younis has been Pakistan's best test batsman for a decade who recently drew a series in England single handedly.

Also, Voges has been failing even in his home conditions. Younis failed in an away tour.

A better comparison will be between Ponting and Younis. Both were best batsmen for their respective teams for a long time and Ponting despite not scoring many runs still played several series before he eventually retired.

I have a feeling that if it's 3-0 to Australia then there will be a clear out of some of the dead wood in the Pakistan Test team.

Now thats just pure fantasy Theres no saviours on the bench that will score tons and win matches in swinging bouncing conditions away from home

If the likes of inzy, javed and yk couldnt or cant then players like u akmal and co who arent even half the players of the above certainly wont

Usually Australians put up with the same eleven as well, but this time they were under severe pressure.

Inzamam and Mickey want to invest in these players but yea if they keep losing to good sides then they will be forced to make changes as well. Its as simple as that.

Why do we always have to wait for shock results to get any significant selection changes?

Would you even recognise Renshaw, Maddinson, Handscomb and Bird if you passed them in the street?

This Australia team is full of novices and weak links.

And half the problem is that Inzi and Yousuf also toured Australia when they were too old to bat here.

I don't care if we're touring Australia next the post mortem
On NEW Zealand needs to be done
The selectors are not changing squads but still meddling by holding press conferences every day to try and get the world interested in umar akmal again
Generally nothing's going to change it's unbelievable how we lost our wickets so cheaply

What would that look like? Younis and Misbah are on the brink of retirement - so they can be forced out. None of the other batsmen would be under pressure because Younis and Misbah will create room for new batsmen.

But do we really have better fast bowlers? I doubt it. So there wont be any material benefit of the thrashing.

Wouldn't even use the word poor to describe our selectors, would use something a lot more harsh.

Aus kept the same guys despite getting whitewashed in all Asian venues. Losing badly at home causes more humiliation and that's why so many changes. It's apple to orange comparison here. If Pakistan loses badly in UAE then comparison will look valid.

May be pak selectors counted on 3 win compared to 1 win of Aus from july and felt comfortable not to change the team. :D
