What's new

Congratulations Sachin Tendulkar on hundred 100s! [Finally!]

Many thanks to W65 for stating the obvious.

Let's look at the stats in a little more detail.

Number of centuries against Minnows (EXCLUDING SL & WI)

SRT : 18/99 = 18.18%
Inzamam : 5/35 = 14.28%
Kallis : 6/58 = 10.34%
Lara 4/53 : 7.54%
Ponting 5/71 : 7.04%

Oh I forgot, SRT's highest Test Score, 248* against Bangladesh.

still personal jibe.. no response on the minnowbashing. I can take it as you dont have any answer for that and you have accepted that you were wrong in calling Sachin a minnowbasher?

See above.

Your Bhagwaan has one of the highest number of percentage centuries against minnows.

SRT is a Minnow basher, blates.

Thanks for the idea... N_H.

How is that a minnow bashing? 18 out of 99 centuries is 20%, remaining 80% of his centuries are against non minnows. how is that a minnow bashing?

scored 4500 runs out of 32000 against minnows, which is not even 15% of his total runs.

try again and better luck next time.

Thank for wishing good luck.... and telling me to try again.... here you go....

I even included Sri Lanka and WI in major teams.

So ...now what are going to complain (read: whine) about?

.

According to the legend Sunil Gavaskar Tendulkar is not even the greatest Indian. But to heal the wounds I don't blame Sachinistas for thinking that.

This will be Teendu's anthem when he retires...

:sachin I GOT 99 PROBLEMS AND A CENTURY IS DEFINITELY ONE :jayz

^ Gavaskar doesn't compare Cricketers to Gods :kapil :don :warne

You haven't yet seen the video in which he worshiped the great one?

That's good timing than, I thought it started after midnight for some reason.

Wait a minute so you haven't slept the whole night? How are gonna stay up for the match?

Just because he has scored more centuries against minnows compared to others, he is a minnow basher? then tell me how he has way more centuries against non minnows compared to others. He has 81 centuries against non minnows, whereas second best Ponting has 72 even after including centuries against minnows. he also played almost as many innings as Sachin. 650 vs 675

Sachin scored 81 centuries at 8.30 innings per century but Ponting scored 72 centuries (with minnows) at 9.x centuries per innings. this clearly shows he is not a minnow basher. minnowbasher is someone who scored heavily against minnows but very average against other teams. for example take Afridi's bowling against minnows and non minnows. his average is great against minnows, whereas below average against non minnows. hence he is a minnow basher.

Sachin has not only scored more centuries against non minnows than others, his average against non minnows (47.x) combined with strite rate (85) is better than everyone else. this clearly shows he is not a minnow basher which almost everyone will agree here except you, and wl.

If you are a world class player or one of the All time great batsman you should be able to score heavily against minnows. check Bradman's stats. India and South Africa were minnows during his era. He was averaging over 190 against them whereas he was averaging below 90 against Eng and WI. difference of 100. according to your logic he was the biggest minnow basher. but he was not, because his average of 90 against non minnows is close to his career average. similarly Sachin's average of 47 against non minnows is close to his career average of 52.

hope this would help.

Tendulkar has been dropped for the first time in his career, the chase is over. Indian management and Dhoni has given up on Sachin he has been discarded with no respect. Dhoni and co are forcing Tendulkar to retire by dropping him. The end is near.

Ofcourse the end is near!!!!! if anything good on tendu for recognizing it and being part of the rotation policy...

Since Tendy was dropped tonite, if Sehwag or Gamby get a ton can Tendy claim it?

Yes.

A deeper inspection of SRT's centuries reveals a startling truth.

(The following data is based on stats at Cricinfo as of 12th Feb 2012 11:30am)

Century Strike Rate vs. Test Oppositions in descending order

Vs. BNG : 9 innings/5 centuries = 55.55%
Vs. SL : 25 innings/9 centuries = 36%
Vs. ZIM : 14 innings/3 centuries = 21.42%

Vs. AUS : 67 innings/11 centuries = 16.41%
Vs. SA : 45 innings/7 centuries = 15.55%
Vs. ENG : 47 innings/7 centuries = 14.89%
Vs. NZ : 36 Innings/4 centuries = 11.11%
Vs. WI : 30 innings/3 centuries – 10%
Vs PAK : 27 innings 2 centuries = 7.4%

Century Strike Rate vs. ODI Oppositions in descending order

Vs. Namibia : 1 innings/1 century = 100%
Vs. Kenya : 9 innings/4 centuries = 44.44%
Vs. BNG : 7 innings/1 century = 14.28%

Vs. NZ : 35 innings/5 centuries = 14.28%
Vs. AUS 65 innings/9 centuries = 13.84%
Vs. SL : 71 innings/8 centuries = 11.2%
Vs. WI : 38 innings/4 centuries = 10.52%
Vs. Zim : 33 innings/5 centuries = 9%
Vs. SA : 56 innings/5 centuries = 8.9%
Vs. PAK : 66 innings/5 centuries = 7.5%
Vs. ENG 35 innings/1 century = 2.8%

SRT has the highest century strike rate against minnows, this torpedoes your non-minnow centuries per innings argument.

Also, I think it’s safe to surmise that Pakistan has tamed SRT over his career. In fact I would even go as far as saying SRT was Pakistan’s whipping boy.

:)

you only get ONE chance to get a ton against Namibia...well done Tendy. :waqar

Is Sachin playing tonight or has Dhoni dropped him again to keep the winning combination intact?

If he is playing than definitely TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT

And for some extra good luck

Wait no longer Freelance its gonna happen bro, keep faith. I just hope Dhoni puts his ego aside and selects Sachin in the playing 11.

I think he's going to do it now, he'll be refreshed and recharged after the rest. This thread won't go more than 20 pages.

Someone else's turn to get dropped today. Sehwag probably, he hasn't been doing great outside Sub continent for a while now. Back in 2005 mode.

I don't care how much Sachin scores but if he plays I just really hope he plays his natural game, sick of him getting bog down after good starts. If he plays like he can 100 100 should have been in the bag already.

this is the match if sachin wont score 100 and India lose... ahem ahem..... certainly a death for mortal God

You know more than him?
If he knew that the best way to score a 100 is by playing the natural game wouldn't he be doing that already for his own good?

If he was playing his natural game he would have already scored his hundred the same way he has been doing for the past 22 years. Its pretty clear that Sachin for whatever reason after good starts gets bogged down and that is what has led to his downfall. This is not a criticism its a simple fact.

Which reasons?

Why would he not do something for his own good? If playing natural game is the best way for him to score more runs why wouldn't he play his natural game?
I have seen him hitting double hundreds playing defensively and have seen him failing numerous times while playing aggresively. Having said that i am not even sure about your statement that he is not playing his natural game. His intent has been positive enough imo. Just not hitting a hundred which is not all that bad considering the fact that the rest of the players have had longer patches without a hundred. It's just that better things are expected of Sachin that people are concerned about the hundred.

About time the 'WELL ALMOST' part of the title is taken off :inti

C'mon Sach !

^ But he doesn't get selected against Australia as Dhoni and co don't believe he deserves to be in the playing XI against better teams.

BS

Today is the day!

What a moment it will be!

To do it against his fiercest rivals Sri Lanka, in a neutral stadium, in front of a bunch of Australians. Could there be a a better setting?

Congratz in advance!

Thanx for Jinxing.... :dav:dav

guaranteed 100 today, just needed that much required 'rest' against the Aussies.

This is a joke.
He chickens out against the Aussies and plays in this match. This guy is in intl cricket for his 100th 100 and he aint making an effort to hide that. :14:

Today is the day. Pathetic that this thread would be finished today.

All good things come to and, but come on, this is the perfect time for such a glorius moment.

I mean look at the stadium. Sure, its almost empty, but the few 100 people there will never forget this epic moment!

although i ve contributed many times to the jinixing i find it boring now #honest
