With the Ashes lost and at least three senior men not performing, maybe it is time to give some new or newish lads a run. How about.....

Stoneman
Duckett
Vince
Malan
Root
Bairstow
Foakes (w)
Overton
Wood
Anderson
Crane

I think Cook is finished, Broad is down on pace and Moeen is carrying an injury.

A bit of a long tail a-winding but Woakes and Broad weren’t doing much with the bat anyway.

Duckett won't be playing a match anytime soon for England and Cook will definitely play. Apart from Wood entering the frame (which Bayliss wouldn't want), I don't think there will be any change. Partly because they don't want to look flustered and mainly because England realise that the lack of resources more than anything else has been their downfall.

You're going to get smashed with or without those senior players, may as well do it.

No chance England will do this. But giving some of the back up players a chance isn't a bad idea at all.

It's not even a case of weakening the team with inexperienced players, it's either pick proven underperformers or potential underperformers. Malan has shown courage this tour, maybe another new face can do something similar now that the pressure is off.

Should make a few changes.

I'd assume Overton will be out after the hairline fracture.

Cook, Broad and Moeen should definitely be rested. It's cruel to keep playing guys who are clearly shot of confidence and struggling. Woakes as well, he's been just as ineffective as Broad despite picking up some fluke wickets.

Problem is, they'll just get smashed even harder because the new guys are clearly not ready for this. Crane was going at an economy of 7+ in the practice match and Duckett's immaturity is clear to everyone. Wood however, should have played all three tests.
