In Mickey Arthur's words:

We know the equation - lots of possibilities but the one that could work, in theory, is:

"Bat first and win by 287 runs or more, to snatch fourth place and set up a mouth-watering semi-final clash with arch-rivals India." (Source ICC article)

So now it's a case of faith and/or some good ol' fashioned hand on your heart analysis and say what you think will happen!

The poll is their to vote.

Have to win by 287 runs or more against England.

It is unlikely. It would've been unlikely even for India or Australia.

But, Pakistan should give it a go.

I don't think that Pakistan has the ability to get 400 and get England out cheaply. Quite impossible.

Such miracles happen once in a lifetime. But ODI cricket has changed so dramatically (and for worse) in the last 10 years, I won't bet against it.

Its impossible

Cant score 400 and bowl out opposition for 100 on the SAME PITCH

Forget the first 500 score. Pakistan will score the first 600 score. Fakhar Zaman to smash the first triple century. Shaheen Afridi to take 7 wickets in his first two overs. :shappy

As a Summa Cum Laude graduate of WhatsApp University, I believe

ICC wants a Pakistan-India semi-final at ANY COST. Without us, there is no revenue in cricket. Without India-Pakistan match, ICC will go bankrupt

Why was Sri Lanka banned??

Because ICC asked England to lose by 300 runs- they protested by saying they will lose Champions Trophy qualification, so ICC banned Sri Lanka to ensure England qualify anyways. Now England has agreed to lose by the 300 runs. In return, ICC will compensate England in other ways

So yeah, Pakistan will win this match by 300 runs and play India in Kolkata

Get ready India- we will thrash you in semifinal

Mickey, last time you were also expected to score 500 and your team strolled casually without a care in the world? What's different this time?

If England win the toss and bat first the game will be over anyway, so Babar has to win the toss and if not hope England choose to bowl

Unfortunately, whatever sliver of a chance Pakistan had was really if they had batted first.

England killed Pakistan's hopes by just winning the toss.

Pakistan has to chase the target in 16 balls. 16x6=96 runs. So only when England crosses 96 that Pakistan would cease to be in contention for a semi final spot.

Nevertheless, Pakistan has done well to stay at 5th in the World Cup standing.

Truly a blaze of glory.

Batting at 4 RPO while chasing 350 runs while RRR was climbing to 8.5 to 9 an over.

This team continues to impress with its innovation and strategies.
