Drafts return with the diversity draft

I will go with Darren Gough as my final pick.

My XI:-

1.Rohit Sharma (IND)
2.Tilakaratne Dilshan (SL)
3.Viv Richards (c) (WI)
4.Ross Taylor (NZ)
5.KL Rahul(wkt) (IND)
6.David Miller (SA)
7.Andrew Flintoff (ENG)
8.Darren Gough (ENG)
9.Mitchell Starc (AUS)
10.Jofra Archer (ENG)
11.Saqlain Mushtaq (PAK)

That's one hell of an attack, and I reckon Viv can score enough runs on his own for those bowlers to defend.

how many ppl left to pick, whose next?

got so slow in end ive lost track of whats hapnin.

It's a bit rubbish that despite being told to use the MRR forum, people aren't paying heed.

Da_Future_Knick still has two picks remaining

Forward Defensive Push can select his final pick now

DarkKnight123 to follow FDP

It has been more than 8 hours so DarkKnight123 it is your turn.
Forward Defensive Push and Da_Future_Knick can pick when they are next on.

It’s the last pick guys, come on!

That’s 16 hours and two people skipped, let’s try not to make it 24

Sorry guys, my last pick is going to be for an out and out fast bowler who can spice it up... Lockie Ferguson..

My line up -

Sanath Jayasuriya
Hayden
Andy Flower
KP
Yuvraj
Bevan
Wasim
Lockie Ferguson
Andy Roberts
Shane Bond
Tahir

Explosive openers, stable middle order, maverick finishers, the greatest pace bowlers to have played the game, a damn good spinner to mix it up. Problem of plenty really. Super happy with this team.

Mods to advise if I should wait for DarkKnight123 to change his last pick, or finalize my team now.

My last pick is Martin Crowe.

Final team:

Gordon Greenidge
Quinton de Kock (wk)
Virat Kohli
Martin Crowe
Ben Stokes
Angelo Mathews
Sir Ian Botham
Shane Warne (c)
Abdul Qadir
Dennis Lillee
Allan Donald

Delighted with that in the main, however, a few characters are vulnerable to the risk of being under the influence and getting into scrapes off the field.

As a consequence, I need a strong captain whom everyone will respect tactically and can force the potential trouble makers into line. Although, I still doubt if anyone other than Mike Brearley can control Lord Botham.

Thunderstorm XI

1. Adam Gilchrist (wk) (c) 🇦🇺
2. Brendon Mccullum 🇳🇿
3. Mahela Jayawardene 🇱🇰
4. Brian Lara 🇹🇹
5. Inzamam ul Haq 🇵🇰
6. Glenn Maxwell 🇦🇺
7. Hardik Pandya 🇮🇳
8. Shaun Pollock 🇿🇦
9. Malcolm Marshall 🇧🇧
10. Jasprit Bumrah 🇮🇳
11. Mujeeb ur Rahman 🇦🇫

i guess that leaves me next

i pick steve smith (aus)

so my final xi is

Virender Sehwag (IND)
Shane Watson (AUS)
Babar Azam (PAK)
Steve Smith (AUS)
Dean Jones (AUS)
Clive Lloyd (WI) capt
Jos Buttler (ENG) wk
Chris Cairns (NZ)
Morne Morkel (SA)
Mohammad Shami (IND)
Muttiah Muralitharan (SL)

pretty pleased with my team. two aggressive openers, two solid middle order bats. dean jones, with his ability to adapt to differing scenarios to float in the xi depending on requirement. three destructive lower middle order batsmen. two consistent odi seamers and the most prolific bowler of all times.

plus with arguably up to 7 bowling options no batting line up is getting settled against this bowling attack. and to top it off, under the captaincy of the great clive lloyd. this xi is perfectly balanced for demands on modern odi cricket.

David Warner
Jonny Bairstow
Sachin Tendulkar
Kane Williamson
Jacques Kallis
Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
Imran Khan (c)
Andre Russel
Saeed Ajmal
Michael Holding
Shoaib Akthar

Final:

Marcus Trescothick
Herschelle Gibbs
Zaheer Abbas
Aravinda De Silva
Andrew Symonds
MS Dhoni
Kapil Dev
Richard Hadlee
Daniel Vettori
Nathan Bracken
Joel Garner

4 very good to great ODI bowlers, including the arguable goat in Garner. Hadlee obviously brilliant and Dev a tight, accurate bowler. Bracken very underrated, and Vettori also a solid options. De Silva and Symonds provide options

Good fielding side as well with Symonds and Gibbs

1 right hander followed by 10 left handers although Klusener and Ganguly bowl right handed.

Rayyman left with his final pick.

Would appreciate if Mods can summarize all the teams and add a poll in perhaps a separate thread.

I'm a bit gobsmacked given that you already had a good wicketkeeper in the side. You could have gone for one of a number of decent ODI batsmen that hadn't been picked.

Sarfaraz is the leader of this team. He is a decent WK/Batsman as well. In the middle-order he averages almost 40 at 89 SR.

And AB De Villiers will play as a batsman.

Each player in the draft is selected based on their best playing period.

So if they are currently past their prime, that will not count against them. For example, guys like Taylor, Sarfaraz, Tahir, are not as good as they once were, but that does not mean anything.

On the other hand, players who were selected based on potential will only play to the best they have performed. So guys like Archer, Mujeeb, etc. might get better in the future, but they are only as good as they have performed so far.

Yeah, that's fair enough. Concur fully.
