There are going to be auctions during the 4 drinks break. Only those at the stadium can participate. First auction 1:15 hours from now.

What on earth have they done to the outfield..

Not a fan of the design.

Auction for what?

Usually sporting merchandise..but today it is holiday tickets. The price keeps dropping till someone bids. You can win it for as low as 1 dollar if you bid at the last moment and no one else had bid before you. Only available for spectators who are in the westpac stadium. I will share control room pics.

What is it with New Zealand’s middle order? After the first few wickets have gone down, the rest of the team seems to fold like a pack of cards. It historically would be the opposite over and over again, whereby the top order would perform uselessly and the powerhouse middle order was left to dig them out of a hole.

I'd love to say I'm surprised, but I'm not.

We probably have the weakest middle order in world cricket.

They're not international standard, Latham and Nichols would not make it into the Pakistan A's middle order. They're that average.

Latham is very good I think. He made a contribution in first odi and was the star performer for NZ when they came India last year.

He was playing such a great inning. Could have sealed it on the 2nd last ball. That was a full toss- a gift in such situations.

Nevertheless, the guy is clutch and can rise to the occasion when chips are down. Just doesn't have the power game and is too limited as a player for limited overs formats.

His teammates let him down. Reminded me of Misbah's days when he would bat till the end but we would lose :((
Nah, Kane paced that chase poorly.

I knew we were done when we were counting on Kane for 22 of 2, funny thing is Nasser said something about great players doing special things when we needed 15 off the last, that's when I knew we were really stuffed :)))

Don't make him the hero because he was far from it. He got us close and then lost the match when it was there.

No, he is not clutch :)))

He paced that chase really poorly, we needed 60 odd in the last 10 and we ended up finding ourselves needing 22 off 2....

He messed up big time by turning down the single, there was absolutely zero chance he was going to hit six on the last ball.

That is because wickets fell quickly. You needed 36 runs from last 5 overs and then two wickets fell- Santner and Southee. When wickets will fell, run rate will go high.

He doesn't have the power game which is why they failed to chase off the total. He is still a clutch batsmen. Took the match to the final ball. Very good odi batsmen IMO.

Very good batsmen, no doubt.

Probably 3rd or 4th tier

Elite (ATGs) - Kohli and AB
National greats - Rohit, Warner, Guptill, Taylor, Root
Great batsmen - Dhawan, Smith, Morgan, Bairstow, Buttler, Faf, Qdk
Good batsmen - Finch, Kane, Amla etc.

Kane single handedly lost the match for NZ. Was he trying to be a Dhoni? To carry the match till the last ball and finish it off in a style?

Not sure Bairstow has done anything of note in LOI

Blimey, I didn't realise the match was on. Shame, I missed a cracker.

Always get Bairstow and Buttler confused. Aren't they both great ODI players? Hear both names a lot.

Buttler is very dangerous. Bairstow is decent at best. Not sure both of them are consistent enough.

Wouldn’t say great just yet.

Buttler is a good ODI opener who can score centuries. Buttler is the most exciting striker in England, coming in at #6 or #7 and smashing fast fifties.

Names are very similar. No doubt people get confused. :amir3

He paced it well enough that if he had support towards the end from a middle order batsman, then they would've chased it easily. His teammates kept losing wickets and he couldn't rotate the strike as often as he'd like towards the end because of the tailenders. Heroes aren't the ones who necessarily deliver you the desired results. Bringing you extremely close to victory on such a tough pitch when his teammates couldn't support him is heroic and worthy of praise.

The pitch had eased up, it actually wasn't that difficult to bat on in the second innings. It's just our middle order is probably the weakest among the top 8 teams.

India say hi !
