What's new

England (387 & 192) defeat India (387 & 170) by 22 runs to take 2-1 lead in the 5-match Test series

Pitch is doing enough to make 230 runs challenging. Get 50 more runs here.

Poor batting for Stokes. He should have just played normally.

What a spell from Washy bhai.

He’s done an incredible job today with the ballz

From BBC earlier

Jasprit Bumrah has induced 40% false shots in the 10 overs he's bowled, while the England batters have managed to play only 3% of their shots in complete control. He has been very unlucky so far.

Indian bowlers this innings - false shot% | good shot%:

Jasprit Bumrah - 40% | 3%
Mohammed Siraj - 28% | 17%
Akash Deep - 20% | 18%
Nitish Reddy - 17% | 20%

People here were talking about England getting 100 from the next 25 overs , now you see what I said , England do not have the game plan to play long period of time. Baz ball has completely destroyed the batting ability of England. They do not have good defense any more , and try to hit every ball.

England batting is sub standard , a little movement or spin they are done.

England are leading by 185 runs. :inti

They should try to get 50 more runs. Otherwise, it should be too easy for India.

Another wicket. :inti

185/9.

England lost 9 wickets in 57 overs. They need to learn how to bat for 100-130 overs (like they used to during Strauss era).

But this is Bazball era. Strike rate matters more than anything else.

India's bowling attack is truly special, world-class and the clear difference between the two sides. They give you nothing, they make you fight for every run and when they get wickets, they pick up 3-4 quick wickets in a cluster unlike England who concedes 60-70 runs for every wicket. They have put so much pressure on England that they have forced England to cowardly backtrack on their Bazball approach.

Benching Prasid Krishna has eliminated all the weak links in India's bowling line up.

Let’s get one more and keep the lead below 200

It’s a psychological thing chasing anything less than 200 will give batters confidence to do it

Test doesn't work that way. You have to play according to situation, pitch condition etc. :inti

There is a reason why England finished 5th during last WTC.

Do you think England can win on a dustbowl using Bazball? Very unlikely.

I think England are making them look good. :inti

This same Indian bowling attack got neutralized by NZ and Australia because those two teams had proper Test batters (not Bazball tullas).

India should win this chasing 190 , maybe they will lose few wickets , but its a matter of couple of partnerships only , and also England best option is Root !

An unwanted piece of history by England

England's numbers 4 (Joe Root), 5 (Harry Brook) and 6 (Ben Stokes) were bowled in both innings.

This is only the second time in Test history a team has had those three batters bowled in both innings.

The other occasion was South Africa against England in 1889.

I prefer stokes, smith for that.
It’s part of the game

Bowlers will hit you. Nothing wrong with that. Intimidation is part of the game
Bashir is already injured. If we can hurt him some more, he won't be able to bowl effectively on this pitch.

Hahaha ,Till few hour's ago these tullebaaz were the heroes of wannabe supporters :kp

England badly missing Moeen Ali off spin bowling. He was a much better spinner than Bashir and has bowled England to victory against India in many test matches in England.

England AO

India need 193 to win 3rd test and go 2-1 in the series.

193 is target . I remembered during 2016 tour we didn't chased 195 runs in one test :kp

Bashir and Root needs to bowl well here. Eng 50-60 runs short but India still needs to get these runs.

Shebby got a chance to get 5fer and become a hero. live up to your namesake and show jazba, daleri, guts and become a brand :akhtar

We had Rohit and kohli then

Only reason Aus even won that series

Aus still hasn’t beaten full strength India home and away since 2014

India missed shami big time in that series and jurel etc hardly got game time.

India should win this but pitch is not easy

However if they don’t chase then some players deserve to get the boot

India win is 90% chance unless they go 4 down for 50 or so.
India last 4 wickets have not added runs so even without 4 down for 50, Eng can cause trouble. Needs to start well with the new ball here.

WinViz has India favourites 3:1 but on this pitch , I don't think it's going to be easy at all. England still favourites as Archer, Carse and Stokes can get more uneven bounce than our seamers with their release points.

From BBC

Most dismissals for England at home via bowled in Tests:

  • 12 vs India at Lord's, 2025*
  • 11 vs Australia at The Oval, 1882
Also the highest number of bowled for India in tests ever.

Seems like this , no way can English batsmen be this terrible.

Well, I want India to lose obviously. :inti

But, looks like India may win it due to timidness from England.

All the white countries go timid against India for some reason.

I think there are two reasons:

1) They don't want to jeopardize their IPL contracts.
2) They don't want to be boycotted/harassed by woke mob.

:inti :inti :inti

Uneven bounce here despite heavy roller.

Just bowl at stumps.

India needs to play positive cricket instead goes in the shell. This is going to be very very hard Chase :kp

India lost 1st wicket.

5/1.
