England (539 & 299/5) beat New Zealand (553 & 284) by 5 wickets in the 2nd Test at Nottingham

Now that Moeen Ali OBE has unretired, will he be in for Leach for the fourth test? He will shore up the lower order.
 
Final session could be fun with Root, Stokes and Bairstow looking to score quick runs , however England must not lose too many wickets in the next session and get around 110-120 runs.
 
England should keep attacking New Zealand. Even if they lose a wicket or two.
Ben stokes as a captain has brought lot of positivity

At lunch England were arguably favourites but now it’s arguably NZ. Lol

NZ have opened the door to a potential win, but Jamieson is not fit to bowl so eventually the bowlers will run out of steam. Southee got hauled off after two expensive overs. Boult and Henry have already sent down fourteen between them.

They will need to take the wickets quickly before they blow out.
 
England need to consolidate, look for the draw but this new hype around mccullium & stokes will ensure some over agressive shots leading to Englands demise . Nz just need to remain patient, great chance to level up the series
 
Stokes can still win it for England.

Foakes can save it for England.

But they don't have batting post that. Bairstow is not really the guy to rely on but yeah if he has partnerships with Stokes then England has strong chase as we move to the final session.
 
A Stokes special is the only hope for an England win. Besides that, they should shut up shop and settle for the draw. 1-0 up in the series, protect that and go again in the 3rd Test.
 
Jonny’s technique is a mess lol, he could get out any time
 
The effectiveness (or not) of Michael Bracewell’s spin bowling will be important here. If he can plug up an end and sneak a wicket or two then NZ will be able to rotate their seamers from the other end: personnel problem solved. But if England hit him out of the attack then the faster bowlers are going to get very tired. Henry is already bowling a very long spell.

Hoping we see Jack batting at the end. Either some valiant blocking to ensure a draw or hitting the winning runs.

I want him to get a tour of the SC before he's discarded.
 
Looks like England are trying to calm themselves down now and get through to Tea with minimal further losses. Which is the right move.

(and it was also correct to have a quick start and go for the win)
 
0-181 for Southee in this match, doesn’t seem himself at the moment.

Surely, if England don't play it safe they will be on verge of loss here. Securing draw would be the best result for them now.
 
Stokes will want to be a hero , has the rare ability to pull off something special but more likely hand the match to nz. One here before tea , kiwis could run through a weak lower order .

This is going to get really messy, either a chaotic sprint towards the target or a clatter of wickets about to go down. England clearly don’t care if they lose and want to prove their new brand
 
while Bairstow and stokes are in england should keep being aggressive, no point giving NZ a chance by being defensive.

If ENG win it will be with these two at the crease, or one out and Foakes at the crease. It will be with overs to spare if so.

The alternative is Jack & Jimmy hanging on for a desperate draw.

Better brand of cricket to watch, i think england being negative is one of reasons they have been poor for a while, refreshing change.

Yep, I’m fine with it. Worst case scenario is go down in flames and then have a thrilling decider at Headingley. Good to see England playing some entertaining Test cricket again! It’s been years

More than 50% of the target done in less than 50% of the overs that were available so England have bee maintaining the req rate so far. Run rate won't be a problem as long as these two are at the crease.
 
If Bairstow and/or Stokes stay in til the end (preferably both) then I think England will win this. Whereas if they both fall on their swords then I think the English will settle for the draw

Lol at this rate this could get over very quick in about 20 overs or so. I hope England slow it down and take calculative risks now , the target is very much in their range now .
 
Bringing Brendon McCullum and making Ben stokes captain has done wonders for England.
Moeen Ali will enjoying playing under these guys
