What's new

England beat Pakistan by 141 runs in the 3rd Test

Woakes on. His first spell wasn't that good last time but he came back well

These conditions are not even that tough. This is a good track for batting not a pure phatta but it isn't some minefield or greentops. Just Hafeezs pathetic shot selection and mental weakness to tough it out when trying to save the game.

And that's exactly what is needed - mental fortitude . Even someone like Sami Aslam who had never played a test in England has done much better and looks much more asured at the crease. Granted Pakistan don't have a great history of openers but if you are going to try rubbish batsmen like Masood and Khurram Manzoor you already start with a disadvantage . I wouldn't blame hafeez actually. He's a good test batsman on flat tracks and he deserve d to be give a chance on this tour considering that the dunces in PCB never gave chances to he likes of Sami to establish themselves in the UAE.

6 innings with an OUTSTANDING avg of 17.....hahah

Joke of t series

Scores 0,0,2,18,40,42

This match 0,2...haha..avg of 1..

Surely he deserves to be OUTSTANDING of the next match and squad for eva

Abv this

1.Doesnt wants amir in t team
2.Highest paid in pak team(wat for?)
3.good to be blessed in all 3 facets..haha

Hafeez has heard from someone that it's hard to bat in England and now he's making sure it is so. He'll fail even if you bring a pitch from Sharjah to England for him to bat on. Mentally the weakest batsman in the team despite his 50 tests.

Hafeez is my hero!

No matter what the sitution, Hafeez has the mental strength to play his normal game!

If Azhar somehow leads us to another victory, we can officially term him as the 'MONSTER OF BIG RUN CHASES

I think Cook made a mistake to give us the target of 340+ ... Itz easy decision now to play for the draw... If he would give us the 300+ in 90 overs.. Then definitely pak will go for the win ...

just tuned in
I knew cook is going to declare and give Pakistan tough time as they'll be looking for a chase, expect a very close game between the two, hopefully these two continue in the same way

Need to be about 180-2/3 after 50 overs at tea. That leaves 150 off at least 34 overs with Misbah and Sarfaraz to get most of them.

We need 160 more runs till tea.

Chasing target above 300 at rapid pace is not new for Pakistan. As in past cahsed against sri lanka @ 5 per over

I cant believe this guy took Pakistan for hostage when Amir was returning.

I really don't see what a principled stand has to do with cricketing prowess or form. I see people keep trying to make this argument and it makes no sense to me. Its like you are claiming only great playerss can have morals

Nope, this is exactly what I said maybe six months ago. I knew he was going to fail big time and that has happened. We should have invested in someone else but we like to put in TTF and expect a good result.
Yeah I cdnt agree more with you on this. These were unarguably the best batting conditions hafeez would hv gotten outside Asia but still he has failed to make his mark. It's more of a mental issue with him than his technique which anyway isn't anything to write home about. The reason Why we still persist with him is coz we wanted to keep at least one opener who has been playing at the slot for some time and rotate the other. I think it was too much of a risk to drop hafeez at the same time when we sidelined shahzad from tests however having said that the time come and hafeez needs to go and we need to try Azhar as an opener and hv Babar Azam and Hari Sohail in the team and persist with Aslam till Australian tour.

one rhing that i hate about misbah z going for his old tested horses and not giving oppurtunity to youngsters...he z playing with zulfi baba .lullo hafiz,,and ajmal was old tooo but he didnt went for developing young spinner and left the odi team going nowhere.......

OK so if someone like Imad Wasim or Babar Azam make a stand like Hafeez did, would anyone really care? Its obvious that he was using his seniority/authority backed with a few of his so called magnificent performances against Zimbabwe as a means of blackmailing Pakistan

I wonder if Aamir Yamin was selected or even Hammad Azam, So I think we made a mistake by not selecting the experienced Junaid Khan, seriously, I'm completely confused

It takes alot of mental strength not to worry about the game situation or be selfish and play for yourself, but just play your normal game!

Its not easy scoring 2 as an opener in england!

Please hold your horses. We really can't afford another Nasir Jamsheed. Let him consolidate his position in the team first.

Most likely Hafeez has to leave England for his bowling test and he needs bowling practice for ODI as well that's why he got out quickly

Chris Woakes is the dangerous guy, If he starts the drama, then it won't end, hopefully Younis Khan doesn't follow on and Asad or Misbah takes the responsibility to rescue Pakistan.

There are 2 testing centres in England/Wales.

Edit : Oh wait, it's sarcasm :kakmal.

Its actually harder to get out on this track

The only problem is I fear we don't have enough time to chase this down, will need around 280 in two sessions; I guess we've done it before but will be a little tougher against this pace heavy attack

Sami Aslam.
Imam ul haq.
Azhar Ali
Babar Azam
Haris Sohail ( if fit )
Asad shafique
Sarfi.

Should be our batting line up against Windies in UAE.

Would rather have a right handed batsman opening with Sami. Misbah should play. Agree that Babar should play but at #6 and Asad should move up to #4 to replace Younis.

I hope they are playing well. I just can't watch thr bat right now. My heart is in my mouth. I will turn to tv after lunch In sha Allah and hope these 2 are still playing.

Decent but what about shezzie, umar, saud shakeel and jaahid.

Plus amir yamin and amad bhutt as allrounders.

Zafar, asghar, mo nawaz and usama mir as back up spinners

We got all bases covered except for a fast bowler!

Nice shot from Aslam, down on one knee and driving like a certain bearded opener of the past.

Just need to have a passage of 5-10 overs where they up the RPO to around 6-7 and the game would favour Pakistan.

Then Imam can swap places with Azhar. I will play shafeeq at his fixed slot coz we wd need him in Australia to play the 2nd new ball. Misbah sure will tour Australia and can play a test or 2 vs Windies but the crux of our batting should be made from the batsman I mentioned already.
