What's new

England beat Pakistan by 169 runs in the 3rd ODI

Well done Malik.

but we will keep him because his outstanding bowling will be required in the UAE

I'd rather take Afridi in these conditions over Malik or even Kamran

90% of the people are going to be against me when I say this and I don't like saying it myself too but I think we need some bashers in this side. This is what happens when your only power hitter gets out. People even start blaming quality players like Babar. Bring in someone from Kamran Akmal, Owais Zia, Nauman Anwar, Mukhtar Ahmed.. We NEED a slogger. They may be hacks, but better than what we have to offer right now. These guys are sheer embarrassment.

God no. Please.

For Pakistan's sake I hope Mickey has told them that whatever the case, they have to be all-out or win and the run-rate must be more than 7.

I can live with 280 all out in 30 overs. Crawling to 300 with selfish centuries is the opposite of what Pakistan has to show.

Lo, yeah the entire world is built to entertain you. How is crawling to 300 and not losing by more runs not better than 280 all out?

Got home from work. Logged into cricinfo. Saw the score. Logged out and that's goodnight folks.

I'm actually hurt as a fan, ODI's is my favourite format and I'm so upset to see how far we regressed. What did we do to deserve this. It's just not fair man.

we are still looking for short cuts, Bring Akmal, bring this, bring that.
The fact is Pakistan domestic cricket has falling back a generation in fast moving cricket in rest of the world. Its been ages since our domestic cricket has produced a single world class batsman.
our soon to be Number 9 ranking would be clear evidence of it.
We need to revamp our domestic structure to higher standards, then only we have any hope of staying in top 5 teams.

Umar Akmal is not our answer, he has regressed big time.

It's debatable & relative - not sure who has declined more : Umar or PAK team. I would like to bet on Umar out performing most here rather than those who are out disciplining him to take PAK to No. 8.

Change your favourite format or change the team you support otherwise you're in for a depressing cricket viewing future.

I am really surprised to see the incapability of PAK players when it comes to punish bad balls. Adil would have gone for 15 at least in last overs on this wicket, in this ground against most teams.

I think, the highest margin between 2 Test sides is 254, SRL against IND - PAK can challenge that to day.

Pak batsmen are not just talented enough. Their confidence is low. So even when they get bad deliveries, they tend to miss out on them. Also, batsmen seem to be struggling to hit the ball with power.

True, and that won't improve with the domestic style they play with - there is no County window now.

If you some of the recent T20 cup, it's between a cricket, hockey & clay court tennis going on. No back lift, no value for timing. no hit on the rise - basically slog swing with bottom hand & 140 is match winning total.

It won't improve, unless the root is fixed.

Inability of Pak batsmen to clear boundary ropes with ease is surprising. Outside of Sharjeel, nobody seems to have to power to clear the ropes. Batsmen seems to be putting a lot of effort to hit the ball hard. But the ball rolls past the infield.

Honestly there's many issues with our one day side that one doesn't even know where to begin listing them

Like it's not a combination of specific issues such as failure to give big starts, or bowling poorly at the death or losing ground in the middle overs. Every aspect of cricket - we are behind the rest. You can't even begin to fix that without an overhaul because clearly the current players are well well behind the curve

I wonder whether it's even worth spending so much effort and brain and time as fans to see this mess

Junaids thinks this guy Hasan Ali slog swinging at balls 1 foot out side off & turning away can average 40 in Internationals?

I think, PAK management is also caught confused with his post in PP - sent him 3 slots higher in batting.

How is this a young side Wasim when 5 players are over 30!

Its same old excuse that is always made by ex pakistan players.

If you are young and cannot play then do not. International cricket is not the right place to gain experience.

We need at least 4 power hitters in our XI. We have Sharjeel, then need to get Yamin at 6, then need to get Amad Butt at 8, then need a power hitter at 4 in place of Azhar, Babar can go to 3! Then we will have some chance!

How does player like Hasan Ali gets so much hype in PP? I can understand his bowling (not much expectation from a 175cm bowler, neither hope of improvement for a 25+ youngster either), but haven't anyone seen him bat before?

Lols what's up with this talk about Hasan Ali being an allrounder? The guy can hardly hold a bat...

Now let's just play out the 50 Overs and let young Nawaz get a hundred aswell as reducing the margin of defeat!

It's embarrassing we are losing our wickets yet we are playing slowly on a flat pitch. Better if we were playing quickly and getting out or playing slowly and making decent scores.

I'm very surprised.. Junaids wanted this guy to bat for Pakistan at #7 in test matches. The most pitiful batsman I've seen for a while.. Umesh Yadav bats more enterprisingly :))

Junaids... the allrounders you keep mentioning - Hasan Ali, Aamer Yamin, etc.. do they all bat similarly?

Hasan Ali isn't even an all rounder Amir Yamin is a batsman who bowls a batting all rounder he can bat at 6 and Amad Butt can bat at 8 bowling all rounder! Both are power hitters! Hasan Ali isn't even an all rounder!

Normally, I avoid Boss's most fantasies, but couldn't resist here. Because, I had a fundamental disagreement with him - there is no point playing an "ALL-ROUNDER" for the sake of it. 6+1+4 is the best way for PAK in Test, with couple of batsmen rolling arm.

Let them bat first against teams that can think, plan & execute - PAK domestic scores doesn't give me more meaning than Lancashire Div II league.

Check Yamin's 63 vs Zimbabwe in a pressure situation!

Can he replicate such things against sides like England, Australia, SA, India, NZ?

And if he played so well, why was he dropped from your squad?

If the bowlers can manage 15 runs each , it will be okay.

Can, for couple of overs - then, teams with better resources & mind 'll expose him to hold out at line.

You can check my post in this thread - the moment Sharjeel hit 3 fours & went for the 4th one I called that get a single, get off strike for next over.

I just wanted to check the delusions of Mr.Junaids... ridiculous hyping!

Yeah I know, not to mention how some posters hyped Amir and said he was better than Steyn and Wasim. He is a good bowler but nowhere near Starc. Good post bro
