England defeat Sri Lanka by 10 runs in Delhi

Scoop just evades Rashid.

The fate of these two team's World Cup campaigns are hanging on these last 3 balls !

Its over - England win. Great final over from Stokes, another thrilling contest in this WC.

Valiant effort from Mathews, if only SL made a slightly better start and didn't concede so much at the death !

Brilliant last over...didn't thought Stokes is capable of bowling under such pressure...Well done England

Good match - both are winners. It's a fantastic effort by the Lankans. Great bowling by Stokes - as it looks, in the death overs, for T20, intelligent medium pacers are doing better than fast men.

South Africa and the rest of the world. We have too many haters.

bah gawd they've done it! Her Majesty is up on her feet, the flags are waving the champagne bottles are being popped! Where we going to celebrate Adil and dashing_man WOOO! :)))

Biggest concern for me was England's death bowling in this world cup but after today's performance they are real contenders now :) Well done! We can go all the way!

Wow..whattay game.. Mattheeeeewwws you would have done a miracle if you would have won it today... Anyways, Brilliant knock from him and SL campaign ends but not without tough fight shown by them.

Liam Dawson should come in now. Moeen and Rashid aren't effective enough spin options.

Are you calling stokes a medium pacer there :D?

Genuinely interested, how many players have made their int debuts in a world cup/wt20 knockout games?

Is it really that much of a risk given our current spin options are giving away 8-10 RPO anyway ? If we can't trust our spin options to contain and take wickets during the middle overs on Indian pitches then its a big concern.

Adil_94 that dog during the adverts on sky is hilarious :)))

Will be interesting to see how Proteas perform against Sri Lankans.

But what's the use of going with guys who will be easy hits..yeah it's difficult but something need to be done.

Yusuf Pathan debuted in 2007 World Cup final.

This is the first match in this show that I have watched any of. About half the overs. I'm pleased that England have made it to the semis. When Jordan gets it right he's a handful. Very proud of Stokes in the last over, stopping the Matthews charge.

It depends on the conditions really and with nothing in it for the spinners during 2nd innings the leggie was bound to get smashed, Mo had a bad day but has been decent throughout. Since the semi is going to be at the same ground I'd drop Rashid and bring in Dawson or topley

4 Asian teams knocked out, now my support is with brother Mohammed Shami :amla

England have two brothers, Rashid bhai (beard not big yet but growing at a decent pace :yk) and Moeen Bhai beard, just look no words needed. You should immediately support England, that's two Moslems and more then India :afridi

Pathetic & racist post...good for you!

:yk2 Either way I'd like for you to cheer for England, look how nice we have been to the Bangladesh team over the years :yk

Count his Bhai in, I am an English Bhai now :boycott

This bhai is also a huge fan of Ashraful and will never forget the Natwest Series in 2005, Ashraful would be legend now but big conspiracy have been done against him :( he needs to be in current BD team not in Special Briyani Chef team of restaurant in Dhaka, he'd have won the game for you against NZ and Ind.

I think, SAF 'll crash Sri Lanka, as they are out of the tournament already. SAF comes to every WC exactly opposite of Pakistan (As Fre_C draw a comparison between the two) - that's too much home work, which I feel makes the players mentally limited & tense - in a WC, every team gives their best, therefore often things can go a bit out of plan, which SAF players can't manage. It's not about ability for sure, rather it's the overcooked planning that really gets better of these players.

This is not only in WC - SAF in general is so good that, in most bi-laterals, they close the series even before the last match, therefore we don't see this crack. They played recently against ENG from wall on the back & came back to win it 3-2. OI feel it was because of the mental clarity of what exactly to do, rather than what else are the options. Last year against BD, they won the 1st match & lost the 2nd - simply couldn't compete in the decider - got confused to figure out what went wrong in 2nd match. Had they gone to 3rd match 2-0 up, they would have crashed BD 3-0 - that's their biggest nemesis.

SAF brought lots of innovation in modern games - but sometimes I feel they are trapped in their own cage. SAF 'll play with a relax mind against Lanka & this is a wonderful unit in every aspect of the game - I back them to crash a rebuilding SRL side, who are also demoralized for this title defense & in rebuilding phase.

How is that racist? At worst I'd say pognophobic ;-)

I was only trying to recruit more fans to support England's World Cup campaign, one of the supporters wanted to go for India because there was muslim bhai in the team but we have two in the England set up so diverse and multi-cultural. Long Live the Queen!

Not quite express but he's got some wheels, especially when he gets fired up. Has hit 93mph this tournament.

So did Ashish Nehra, at official 37 - Fast bowler is something different that what Speed Gun tells. Have you ever seen me quoting anything on pace bowlers quoting from "Speed Gun"?

What an emotional post. Potw. Bhai sold to Team England :shakib

Nehra hasn't crossed 90mph a single time this tournament. If you're trying to convince people that a speed gun doesn't measure how quick a bowler is I'm not sure what to tell you :afaq.

Nehra clocked 146KM in one delivery against us, if I am not wrong, as I couldn't even follow the match - that's 91 mile +.

Speed gun measures speed of a 5.5 ounce leather piece between 2 spots - it doesn't measure the shoulder torque that bangs the ball on the wicket, it doesn't measure the twist of wrist or the fingers that fizzes the ball through air.

This tourney has been actually very good with a lot of thrillers.

You should give it a try Rob. We'll take care of Junaids:boycott

Haram haram :amla

I'm sure it is illegal to mention the site's name on here lol.

Bet on SL to lose before the game, bet on Sl to score less than 140 after Engs' innings, bet on Thisara to score be smashed during the game and had to wait for a while because Perera didn't bowl till death over lol.

Wherever you go outside the UK all the neutrals in the crowd are totally anti-England (if that's not oxymoronic). WC '87 final: Indians shouting for Australia. WC '92 final: Aussies shouting for Pakistan. Something to do with colonial hangovers, perhaps? The Empire was lost seventy years ago, almost nobody in the UK can even remember it.
