England end Day 1 of the first Test against Pakistan on a record-breaking 506/4

Gotta agree with Ponting when he labelled Pakistan Test attack as some of the weakest he has ever seen. This is a pretty terrible Test attack.
 
England scoring so quick just advances game, means our pathetic batting will have to bat even longer to save it. Pathetic stuff all round.

I have nothing against Zahid. Even he’s probably surprised he got selected.

But every boundary off of him, and every innings he goes wicketless is a well deserved slap on the face of Saqlain and Babar.

Saqlain as one of the best spinners ever didn’t have the foresight to defy Babar that hey, this guy isn’t good enough to play, play Abrar instead. So then why is he coach? What is he bringing to the table?

Babar and Saqlain have to take ownership of the pitches they want. They are equally responsible for these pitches if they didn't put their foot down on the pitches they want if they wanted seaming, spinning tracks in the first place.

I have seen Kohli as captain throwing a fit in India whenever India lost a test to Australia, England and he made sure the groundsman and the BCCI produced subsequent pitches to suit India's spin and pace attack.

Babar is just a clueless day to day operator with zero vision for the team.

Any attack will look pedestrian when you have a clueless captain in charge ie Azhar Ali, Babar Azam etc.

Such a pathetic bowling “attack”. Loving this attacking play from England though. Bazball is doing wonders to their test cricket.

The look that Zahid gives after getting hit every boundary. Punchable.
 
Srilanka’s record 900+ vs India in danger. However that was a result of selfish cricket after India declared on an absolute road.

I see this as more of an excuse for for terrible Test bowlers.

Rauf and Naseem aren't Test standard, no Captain can change that.

I haven't even heard of the other two. This is more of a management issue. All this raw talent stuff may work for T20s at times, but I am pretty sure that Rauf and Naseem aren't Test standard yet. Naseem in particular has proven this time and again.
 
lol, look at the England's run rate.
It's better than Pakistan's T20 power play run rate.

A reminder. Zahid mehmood averages 40 in first class cricket. Sindh benched him for Abrar meanwhile here he is representing Pakistan because of Babar.
 
Harris Rauf becomes a pivotal white ball bowler and Pakistan are like ‘yeah he can play test cricket’. Why do they do this..
 
ENG 141/0 after 20 overs. They have made more in the 20 overs of this Test than Pak did in the T20 WC final
 
The most exciting parts of this test so far is cocomo mujhe bhi do.

This is a good defensive bowling option. Off spinner. Pakistan can stem the flow to some extent.

Ramiz has given Babar the full authority to select whoever he wants. If Babar insists on playing misfits then that is on him, it doesn't help when his own decision making in the field with regards to team selection, field placements, making on the spot decisions on the field is very poor and he has zero proactiveness as captain.
 
Saw clips of few Quaid Trophy at this ground and pitch certainly had good bounce. This looks intentional, perhaps Ramiz intention is to bat long and go for draw for first game. Timid approach, like pitches ever make a difference to Pakistani batting :) Hopefully next two games ll have sporting wickets, atleast on first 2 days!

Test experience/watching overall is just so dull generally in subcontinent, limited over cricket is fine. Aus, Eng, NZ Test experience are always light years ahead.

Yes he's a parchi pick there's no doubt about this. Babar has picked him and knows there's no accountabilities. What's the worst? He will het dropped next match but he's already picked up a handy match fees and a test cap and is part of the squad anyway.

That's what it means to make connections in Pakistan cricket. Lottery.
 
You give Kohli the likes of Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf in the bowling line up and he will find ways to get wickets from them.
 
Will be interesting to see how Rauf handles Test match. Hard to maintain pace right through the day

He can't even plan a strategy for a single session.

Imagine. Less nepotism in the domestic circuit Vs the international side which is under greater scrutiny. The absolute gall to do something like that.

Also think of the message this will send to domestic teams. You will get rewarded for pushing parchi players if the international side approves.

Everyone is going after Zahid as if he is the problem here.

When your team is in a bad condition, it is human nature to look for escape goats.

Every bowler is going for runs. There is no hiding.

Pakistan have been caught brutally by surprise by Bazball, even if they knew it was coming.

Babar and Ramiz made a batting track so Babar won't get out quickly, rather than a sporting pitch where their bowlers would have a chance. Unlike Pakistan, England knew what was in store for them - after Australia series. A defensive Pakistan team playing on roads.

Now Pakistan pay.
 
Awful awful pitch. Was really awaiting this test but seems like it will be similar to the Australian series
 
Australia has also scored 560 for 3 and second day is still on... That too in Perth!!! Perhaps this score isn't that bad yet :p
 
Our bowling is only good for 20 over cricket where bowlers can bowl only 4 overs and not worry about setting up batsmen etc. We're absolutely useless in the real form of the game.
 
Two absolutely ridiculous test matches going on right now. Imagine selling test cricket to the younger generation like this!

Some people talk about no one watching ODIs, who is watching this crap for 5 days?

This happens when you go with 5 rookies effectively. Captaincy is Babar's achilles heel so no surprise, Saqlain taking it as law of nature
