40s are ok but to become a true allrounder he needs to show an ability to score more and he should have stayed until at least we had reached 300 before attempting something that loose.
 
Don't think England will last long against Pak. bowling. Should be an easy dub
 
Shan shouldn’t worry about farming the strike yet. Not until Yasir gets out

I agree. It was just his 6th test I guess, will get more composure and calm at the crease going forward. Development of young players take bit of time and I think we need to be patient.

A 30 here by Yasir would be huge. 10 from Abbas/Shaheen/Naseem and 150 from Shan takes us to 350
 
Archer is struggling with something I think. His bowling fitness hasnt been great in tests especially considering how he looks like a quality athlete.
 
In 1996 in the First Test at Lords, Pakistan ended Day 1 on 290-9 but the next morning Rashid Latif lifted that to 340 all out.

This feels similar.
 
Yasir looking a few pounds heavier, but he's frustrating England at the moment.
 
Buttler has got to be rested now and Foakes brought in.

He looks demotivated. Don't think playing for England means much to him.
 
I won't mind some good cloud cover in about 30 mins =)

Also alot of English bats have bad memories of Shah. Even if he isn't as potent as he used to be, in their mind he will be massive threat and this often does funny things to a batsman.

Babar just needed to apply himself in the morning session and it would have been easier for him after lunch just like when he came in yesterday and scratched around for 2 runs off 25 balls.

After that he got the runs quickly and made batting look easy. This morning he just slashed away from his body going for a drive that cost his wicket.

Yes it was clipping and umpires call mean they would had not losed the review but still had it been slightly been missing should had used it
 
Shan needs to try and keep the strike now. Aim for small objectives. Start with 300. Then 325.

Can't way this was unexpected. Nobody in their right mind should have expected more than 10 runs between Abbas/Shaheen/Naseem
 
2 balls ago 320 was on the cards. Might not even make 300.
 
It is good for us if we bowl some overs today.

Might as well get some quick wickets.
 
This is why Zafar Gohar is needed, he can bat unlike these walking wickets
 
These bowlers better make up for this horrendous batting with some big wickets when they get the ball

You don't expect such logical decisions from Pak. Looked even more stupid given that they stood midpitch taking their sweet time until the 15 seconds timer was up :))) What needed such a long debate?
 
Who are these people asking Shan to go all out? What is wrong with you?

He doesn't need to go all out. He needs to keep strike and that's it.

If Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq,and Mohammad Rizwan managed even 20 runs apiece we'd be at 350
