one wicket of a no-ball one a false catch

way to destroy what would be a great test match umpired

What was the harm in going to the third umpire? How can billy get away with making mistakes match after match. ICC sort it out.

a lot of pressure applied by english bowlers....take nothing away from them,...bowling so far has been spot on and well aggressive,...onions and broad to come....tough ask...will be a good effort if they last till lunch without losing another one

That is a real tough one.

I think the third umpire would have given it not out simply based on doubt.

Doctrove though was sure it carried and he had the side-on view.

Quite unlucky for Australia, both wickets have an element of doubt in them.

First one had no doubt at all, it was simply a no-ball. Second one would have been reversed if it was referred.

Could the umpires go to the 3rd umpire if they wanted?

Australia would probably have not won the game anyways but I am so pissed the umpires are spoiling what could be a great day of watching cricket

Yeah bad luck you Aussies... it's all they deserve, for the worst performance by an Australian team at Lords in generations, bitter moaning, being completely outplayed, England playing brilliantly, need I go on?

flintoff bowling the spell of the series for me.....I just love watching him when on fire....pity we wont be watching him after this series....cherish the moments of good aggressive fast bowling

6 overs, 2 maidens, 2-6
Utterly world class from the big man

Whippy you will win anyways why do you want them to have anything to moan about.

From a neutral prespective we just want a good day of Test cricket but yet again we have umpires especially Doctrove upto this stupid antics.

Flintoff deserves his wickets, not for the actual balls he got them from but the way he has been bowling.

I am sorry thats just absurd.

7th Over in a Row...with injuries he can come up with 7 on the trot...i guess 1 person from our team can learn from this....you know who I am talking about

I'm just lapping it up. I wouldn't be surprised if Flintoff retired at the end of the day and we lost the series 3-1, but for now it's just there to enjoy for England fans, this sort of domination wasn't even see in 05. To be 1-0 up after 2 tests was beyond my wildest dreams in this series, I thought we would have to be brilliant and lucky to still be in the hunt after 2 tests against Australia.

he has been bowling according to a plan for each batsmen that's faced him (short on body to Hughes, fullish outside for SK, back of a good length to Ponting) and he has not given them any room, beaten them and it would be unfair if he had no wickets.

I am not trying to say that those rubbish decisions are justified, just making a point that Flintoff is bowling superbly.

I dont think that would happen my man....he will be taking 15 more injections if he has to to get over the next 3 tests as well....he wants to go out with Ashes in this hands and to be remembered by the man who helped england win back to back home ashes series

I really want to think the same as you :( let's hope so

from cricinfo:
"What a relief," says Tom from Australia. "If it hadn't been for those two shocking umpiring decisions this morning, we would have actually had to admit that we were rubbish in this match - now we can just blame Rudi. Whew!"

:))

I dont know why, I feel these 2 at the crease will bat the whole day today...its Mr Crickets time to rise to the occassion....ponting is all but used to saving aussie A*SES time and time again....wont be surprised....can you imagine no more wickets for england today...with flintoff running off the field as well...

Wow ...Australia needs 280 to win on the final day with 8 wickets left :)

The first dismissal was not a doubtful decision, it was a wrong decision. It should have been called "no-ball."

Good point though about Doctrove being sure it carried. He arguably had a better view of what happened than the TV camera did. The TV footage was inconclusive. There was certainly no sign of the ball having actually bounced before it got to the fielder, unlike the one that was referred yesterday and given not out.

Time for Broad to deliver...a place in the 3rd test for him is at stake. Harmison is surely on the way back into the side, and someone has to go

I don't give a monkey's, we have had loads of decisions go against us in the past, against Australia and other teams, and at the end of the day Australia have been total and utter cack throughout the entire match, that's why they are losing, not umpires.

Well said, Australia have had a lot of 'luck' and decisions going their way against a whole host of other teams to, not least of all Pakistan...over the last few years. So to be honest I'm quite enjoying being able to watch the tide turning.

I agree to disagree with you....broad has to surely deliver....but more than him it would be Onions who will be keen to deliver....if harmi is to come back then maybe it will be onions who will lose his place...we will see....back to this test...broad does look like bowling well....troubling hussie with his length

I want Eng to win but I do have a soft side for Australia since it is such a wonderful country that has given me so much so I def want the team to do well also.....

You should be supporting aussie all the way...you live there I think...and to not support them would be totally wrong...hell you even display their flag man...come on...support the country you live in and the one who has given you your home (assuming you are an expat)

Just tuning in - what is the controversy surrounding Flintoff's wkts?

Ponting counter attacking! He plays well under pressure like most great players do. I think he (or even Hussey) will not let this go without a real fight.

1 wicket off a no ball...not called

another 1 a controversial catch....given without referring to the 3rd umpire....replays are inconclusive

Nothing major then.

Major for Ponting and Co....not so much if an english supporter

Although english supporters could think back to Saqlains wickets at old trafford all those years back, to get a taster of how it feels...and lunch is called, pnting looking in ver good nick now.

Ive picked a 3 DVD Set 'Eng v Aus 2005 Ashes' from my local Poundshop...for a £1

Fair points,, OZZZZZ all the wayyyyy, come on boysss...

ponting gone.....outside off delivery, slight nip back, wanted to cut...inside edge onto the stumps....england smelling victory

I have been watching since lunch and no mention of controversial dismissals from beefy or bumble.Them decisions were not that bad it suggests.

Its available in nationwide HMV for 3 quid, also saw it in my local poundland for a quid. I bought it for a tenner straight after the series ended 4 years ago - it's a great set actually, I've watched it loads. Very comprehensive highlights, a good 90 mins/2 hours per test.

Obviouslt...do you expect Bumble and specially beefy to go on and on about decisions that went in Englands favour....

If you want to listen to the harp all the time, go on some aussie forum and their will be plenty of mention there....also sky sports news was showing highlights a few times....dont expect the englishman to keep on whistling as to how the decisions went their way....imagine they were not given out and then you would hear them talk not just after lunch but atleast for the next few months until Australia is playing in england

great cricket from England to dismiss Hussey. All over bar the shouting...and the rain

I'd say the Strauss "catch" was 50:50. Before third umps and ultra-slo-mo there would have been no such controversy. All this tech undermines the umps, I think.

umpires are doing everything to finish this one quickly.... 1st time in my life fell sorry for Australia

:)) 3 false wickets, this is great

just cranks Ricky up more and more

I understand if one decision goes incorrect or is marginal....but 3 wickets...specially the last one when he did not even nick it....it just takes away the pleasure of watching and giving england credit...

well, the poor decisions are increasing my pleasure of watching :)

nice to see Flintoff bowling again, pleeeeease say he will lead us to an eventual series victory

I wont be surprised if he actually does....flintoff for man of the series :)

could an Australian batsman be about to score a half century? This cannot happen...

Flintoff now beginning to reverse the ball...and hes bowling at 92mph+ to boot!

The Flintoff over count is already starting to build, will have done 20 overs before you know it...probably has the least amount of fitness out of any of the 22 participating players and you'd struggle to think of a better bowler anywhere in the world. it's sick!

even though england have played the better cricket they have been lucky with everything, when they've batted its been clear blue skies and the lords pitch becomes flat a s a pancake, and when they've bowled its been very over cast then the bowl starts to move around and zips up the wicket, the conditions are giving a false view of the england attack, apart from flintoff its very ordinary, and so far the play today well the umpire are doing their best to make sure england win

couldnt agree, flintoff is hostile and good, but steyn for me is clearly the number one he takes wickets

you get the rub of the green when you're playing well, it's how cricket has always been, anyone doubting the high class of the England team performance just needs to look at the scorecard and weep, if we're so lucky why does nobody dominate Australian teams like this? Ever?

India did that in the their recent home series against them

I cant wait to see England win Ashes, I hate Australian team and Ricky Ponting. They are still the most snooty cricket team

ohh...this is now turning out to be another one of those crappy camparison threads....india better than england....steyn better than freddie.....hate those ones

This partnership between Haddin and Clarke is now at 87 runs...stubborn stand here by these two.

100 partnership between clarke and haddin.Great effort.I can remember Gilly and langer breaking pak fans heart in 99 with a massive 4th innings partnership but surely this is beyond them here.

Support England to defeat Australia and demoralize them, when we visit later in the year we can thrash them and stick it up to the Indian boasters!!

If Australia get another 50 odd runs tonight, and they dont lose another wicket...itll mean that they require 200 runs with 5 wickets in hand tomorrow. Game well and truly on in that case...

Getting bored now. As long as we break the partnership tonight we'll be okay, they dont have much batting left.

An evening of the new ball! Less than two wickets would be poor.

Team huddle mid inngs? Not seen that before!

New ball taken - whips up the crowd.

Good thinking!

Freddie with the new ball - and it crashes into the boundary double quick time!
