Ok I didn't watch since when we took the new ball.

Before the new ball it was flat with a few balls doing stuff.

So what its really seaming around?

Flat not as in Indian flat but overseas flat.

What's your take then?

It is a typical English pitch with a bit of seam movement. Lord's was an exception. India haven't bowled well enough also captaincy has been negative for the most part due to the lack of genuine 4th and 5th bowlers. BK has been too wide. This is the kind of pitch that suits England the best. In 2011 all the pitches were like this. There is still enough on it to keep the bowlers interested. This is not like Trent Bridge.

South Indian Sharmas are North Indian Immigrants

Oh mate.. I'm not an expert on ethnicities. Go and ask this in Timepass. You will know the year of migration. The kind of positions the couples mated and all the stuff..

Great.

This is what we need.

To get screwed.

I am pakistan I and even I know that.

I thought quota is based on ethnicity and not hometown.

are there no other Delhi players in the team? Where are kohl and dhawan from?

I always thought Indians fans whining over quota system is unjustified. I just think the selectors are corrupt. Looks at how all super king guys get preference.

Indian cricket has Quota ? Never knew. Can some Indian confirm this ?

Dhawan and Kohli are Delhi boys but Punjabi Ancestory, Jadeja is Gujarati, Dhoni is the odd guy from random state. Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik and Murali Vijay are from Tamil Nadu, especially Chennai.

Majority of Indian cricketers come from Mumbai, Delhi, Gujarat state, Tamil Nadu and Punjab. Rest makes minority %.

This is the kind of pitch on which if you bowl well you take 6-7 wickets on the first day, unless someone plays outstandingly. This is neither a 150 all out pitch nor a 270-2 pitch.

Not like SA quota.

Its unsaid stuff I think.

Not sure. Don't take my word about quota seriously.

What is true is that there is incompetence and favouritism among selectors. That is there for sure.

What a player Ballance is.
Cricinfo says his natural positions isn't #3, where does he normally play?

Pankaj Sharma has been the pick of the bowlers. Easily.. Hopefully he can get a wicket or two tomorrow before England declare

Pankaj is insanely moving the new ball.. His pace is just allowing them to see it and adjust. If he had a few more yards, he would be unplayable.

Basically a BORING day of Cricket .... had the Indian scooped up the chance Cook gave when he was on 15, I think, things may have been little different. Cook made most of it, too bad could not score a hundred. Absent of Ishant. Sharma is very evident. Soooo .... England are ahead at this point. They should have scored few more runs today, but that could be adjusted tomorrow. The pitch is like not absolutely dead .... but the Batsmen can bat without much anxiety.

It was anything but boring. England batsmen ground, Indian bowlers toiled, umpire's erred and fielder's fumbled. There is beauty in attrition Al cricket not everybody appreciates. I loved the way Pankaj bowled and the way balance dominated. He gets into position so early looks like a hard nut to crack. India should have had bell but they were robbed.

Wonderful day of cricket. I spent my entire Sunday watching every ball.

England v India | 3rd Investec Test | July 27-31, 2014 | Ageas Bowl | Day 2

England are 247/2 (90.0 ov)

A long, hard toil coming up for the Indian bowlers. I am kind of happy that this young Indian side has closed a match on a bowling friendly surface and they are up against the grain today. Good for building characters(from a cricketing perspective) in the long run.

Winning?

First let us try not losing.

Agree with samplepiece - Glad we closed out a match on a bowling track. But we must remember we have lost the next test everytime we have gone up overseas (recently).

Playing a test match on a not so great track with 2.5 bowlers.

Shami - Out of sorts (can be consider 0.5 bowler with his recent form)
Jaddu - Defensive (0.5)
Pankaj - Proper (1)
Bhuvi - Tired and not penetrative (0.5)

So 2.5

It may look crazy to some but this bowling lineup looks like a joke (the way it bowled yesterday).

Let's see if we can see a difference in their bowling today.

Why the hell do the Indian players have so many security guards? Have you seen the players walking to the nets etc? They are surrounded by security guards. England players walk everywhere with no security because they are not ego-maniac little girls.

Some sexist comment that!

Because you never know when some potty mouthed England player might jump at you and molest ya and unfortunately the players cannot rely on the 3rd world defunct CCTV's in England to help them. Better be safe than sorry

Is whining the favourite hobby of UK ?

Ball is turning and bouncing a bit Ashwin would have been a handful on here. Jadeja doesn't cut it as a frontline Test Spinner outside the SC for me

Jadeja who seems India's regular spinner is having horrible bowling stats in the series..Ashwin should have been playing this game..

Why can't just BCCI accept DRS? Otherwise, Ballance would have stayed at the crease.

'Refreshing' tactics from Dhoni.. Following the match on cricinfo and he's swapping the 3 seamers for 1 over spells. The first time to happen in Int'nal cricket :))

If India can sneak in a couple more wickets till tea, it will be great for the game. The way I see it, the game is going nowhere..

England should move on and try to get to 500 much quicker and declare it tonight..

Didn't see the bowling after tea but gotta admit that was a new and interesting tactic when nothing worked.

Feel there is something in the pitch for spinners now.

Rohit's ball popped up.

I love to see off spinners (Dhawan, Rohit and co) operating for a while. Something can happen.

The pitch has become quicker since ysterday. The bounce has also improved.

Broad will be handful on this pitch. Some of the Indian batsmen who do not like too much bounce will find it hard on this pitch.

Even BK is getting the ball to jump like Akhtar would do. It was a great toss to win again.

What would be England's declaration total? 550?

The way Bell's playing spin on this track says a lot about the assistance spinners are getting here.

Sir Jaddu.:))) 21 of the over.

When you get hit by Bell for 21, there is something seriously wrong.

Rex: "This aggressive tactic can work for england. quick 50-60 and if they do get all out they give themselves more time to get 20 indian wickets...otherwise they were going no where at one point.."

This is what I've been thinking all along!
