Well played from the Engerlund, have India on the rack. An article on Cricinfo suggests Kohli has been found out outside off. Can he adjust his game like all great players have to when their weaknesses are exposed?

That was England's best day since they were in India. Everything went right for them. Finished India off quickly, batted fast, declared at the right time, and then took the top four off again.

In previous tests this summer they got into good positions and let the other side back in. Not today! That was the England of 2010/11 again. They kept the pressure right on from the first ball.

Runs from the skipper and everything falls into place.

Well done Chef, well done lads, have a good night's kip and more of the same tomorrow please. :)

Cook is indebted to Indian fielders for getting him back into form.

To me the turning point was Jos Butler making 90 runs and he should have been out at least 5 times. All dollies and easy stumpings missed.
Had India not let Butler runaway with the match, England would not have scored 560 odd in the 1st innings and the lead would only have been 150. England would have been forced to bat the entire day today.

India let off England in the field.

First inning by both teams pretty much decided the game.

1-1 will set it up very well for other 2 tests.

I meant most likely of the remaining batsmen to save India, not that India being saved by Rohit was the most likely possibility.

If Rohit and Rahane can play 90 overs tomorrow, it will be biggest upset ever in Test Cricket even if it is a draw.

Not even Rohit's mama beleives that her Son can play 50 overs by himself. Rohit will get out in the 1st 1 hour of play.

There will be some stubborn resistance from tail, but India will be bundled out right after tea.

Loos like it should be all square heading to manchester.

Jimmy's hearing could end up being the crucial moment of the series.

if he is banned for a few tests i assume he can appeal but not sure of he can play the next test while the appeal is pending.

OT will turn so I think they will bring in Kerrigan for Jimmy, and probably Plunkett back in for Jordan unless he tears up a tree tomorrow.

India let off England in the field.

After England keeled over at Lord's, India though the series was won. They got too confident and too relaxed, picking an extra batsman instead of Ashwin and going in with just three bowlers, of whom Jadeja is not test standard.

Its funny! as soon as I drop England as my team they immediately come back on top again. But why such poor crowd?

Even with all that selection errors, had India taken their easy catches, England would not have scored more than 350 in the 1st innings. The match would have been a draw.

Its all about letting off Cook, Bell and Ballance in 1st innings. They should not have scored more than 100 combined. But instead they scored close to 400 combined. That is the Game, Set and Match for England.

Worst part of all these fielding errors is that England have got back their confidence.

oh well it's your day ...enjoy it while it lasts.....we are gonna strike back with vengeance :lee

Lots of conditional statements. The fact is that India were not able to do those things. Shoulda woulda coulda, as the song goes.

I am not talking about LBW decisions.

I am talking about Simplest of catches that were Dropped, Easy Stumpings missed etc. That too not once. But many times.

And England would not have lost at Lords if they had not kept holing to out Ishant. They might even have won.

See?

England's day but not match yet. Six wickets to get.

Match is in the bag here. Bottom 6 are not going to hold out for 90 overs. Dhoni, Jadeja etc are good for quick 50-60 runs but thye don't have a game to block for long time. Keep bowling outside of off stump to Rohit and he will nick one.

Time for the Mumbai boys to show what the Mumbaikars boast about(staying at the crease for long time). Watching Dhoni bat in Test is puree euthanasia.

Are we still discussing this done match?

Rohit was dropped once this innings right?

Guys its over.

Series 1-1.

Next test please.

Im hoping the boys could put a fight up tomorrow and push it to the limits and bring a draw here. Would be epic!

I think we would have been happier if we were 1 or 2 down instead of 4!

This is a win-win for me, last game England lost and when vegan Indians were getting cocky they're losing again. This is the ideal series.

Couldn't agree more. 80% of the blame goes to Dhoni's negative approach and moronic team selection. He played for a draw right from day 1, which was evident by the fact that he made Jadeja bowl a negative line on the first day itself when England weren't even scoring quickly. 20% of the blame goes to poor batting performance in the first innings, many of them gave away their wickets.

As long as dhonis in the test team India won't win consistently away, India have the players but need the right type of captain.

For all the practical pupose this match is over. Cricket funny game though, couple of guys can dig in generate some interest .... it has happed before. A Draw is as good as a win for the Indians. Since they are 1-0, I think they will try to Draw and not come out all the guns blazing and take the total to 445. But none of these guys can play tuk tuk .... so not to loose tomorrow is going to be hard. It would be nice to know what is said in the meetings ???? It would make great show if, after the match is over, they can show snippets of both teams meetings. Probably will never happen. I am sure it could be better than the actual match !!!!!!!

England v India | 3rd Investec Test | July 27-31, 2014 | Ageas Bowl | Day 5

England 569/7d & 205/4d

India 330 & 112/4 (42.0 ov)

India require another 333 runs with 6 wickets remaining

India have got buckleys. Expect a win by around tea.

The defeat will be so heavy, the British Empire will be reformed and spread throughout the world once again. The Queen will once again be RULER OF THE WORLD.

I think 333 is chase-able target in complete day on this wicket and India bats deep.

But lets wait for it.

How much would I give to be proven wrong?

But I know I won't be.

I have confidence in the ability of India to finish off this Test in a smooth manner.

By giving England a great victory.

And you will wake up with your mom shouting at ya for wetting the bed AGAIN.

You are not a Pakistani. You are an Indian.

No not even that.

You are someone else.

Not even Indians have such hopes.

Being negative is not something to boast about, and nor is being positive something to be ashamed of or ridiculed. Just saying the most negative/defensive thing possible isn't the same thing as being wise or realistic though some people seem to think that is what wisdom/realism is. In truth, that's not realism, it's just protecting your emotions and your reputation by stating the most likely occurrence (which is nowhere near being a lock).

A win is perfectly possible (although very unlikely). It's realistic to win, because the performances required to produce a win are nowhere near beyond or even at the extreme of the capabilities of the players concerned. Seriously, if two players score centuries India are favorites. Likely? Of course not (mainly due to negative mindset rather than anything else). Possible, of course it is, these are some of the best batsmen in India, and there are 4 good batsmen yet to be dismissed. They wouldn't playing for India if they weren't together capable of scoring 300 runs on their best days.

True but different people react differently.

Since the odds are very less (and the batsmen to come don't inspire confidence), some feel there is less chance of winning and in practically sense, pretty much no chance.

Its like in the 90's when a team set 300, fans of the other team would say its a loss. Why? Cos majority (or almost all) of the time it was a loss.

Expecting a win isn't wrong but some people don't operate that way. They would love to have a win but looking at the situation, the probability is low which is why they may feel there is no chance of winning or even drawing.

There's only 1 question left to be solved in this test match.

Will India lose or BE BLOWN AWAY! (Or both :P )

Every time an Indian batsman stands his ground at the wicket after being given out I laugh so hard.

Even Comical Ali would have given in and accepted they should use DRS by now.
