What's new

England v Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Lord's | 10th July, 2021 | England innings (47 overs match)

As bad as the bowlers have bowled the reason for this display has to rest on Babar's shoulders.

He's an unbelievably poor captain.

As a captain he should have brought in the sweeper and kept long on and then forced his bowlers to pitch it up and to bowl straight

Would love to watch Haris Rauf against a full bounty England lineup of Roy, Bairstow, Morgan and Butler. 0/120 would definitely be on the cards.

Pathetic bowling by Pakistan Harris Rauf is not even a gulli bowler.

Faheem Ashraf is not for white ball.

Shadab is even worst and yet to get thrashed

Hasnain is far superior to Rauf, on what basis is he ignored?

Heck, Wahab, Shinwari, and quite a few others deserve places.

Yep, and get them to bowl slower ones-pitched up -keep the sweeper cover point and deep midwicket ....still feel the conditions favor seam bowling...but your guys are wasting the swing on offer by bowling short...

Bowlers are brainless, no captain can help them.

Whenever the ball has been pitched up, there has been something for the bowlers.

Clearly there is something wrong with Rauf's action that makes him unable to be consistent. Absolute failure of Waqar to identify and rectify it.

Misbah's fans will turn up after the match end to defend Misbah with some pathetic excuses.

Yes they bowled awfully but the captain should have adjusted his field which would have forced them to bowl full and straight.

I have not seen such bad captaincy in a while.
Unless he learns fast I don't see him lasting... in fact I think he should be removed as captain immediately

Just 3 runs, decent bowling change be Shadab by introducing Saud. :smith

No that's simply not true.
A half decent captain would have read the situation and changed the field.
He let it go on and on and on which was criminal

Farheem first over was short and Haris continued to bowl 3 or 4 filthy bowls an over. The only think Babar could have done was take Haris off after 2 overs
Good bowling spell thanks to Shadab and Saud.

Changing the fielding would have done nothing when you bowlers have no control over their bowling. Rauf has been super expensive even in PSL. Nothing is going to help a brainless bowler who is being coached by a brainless coach.

Not the most convincing innings I have seen but, Eng will take it as he was able to give them a decent platform

Welll tbh am not an indepth followwer of pak cricket, i just like your site and the passion you guys have for cricket (which is far better than the endless one upmanship jingoistic pathetic stuff served up by my countrymen on other websites...)-i donot know about the 'removed' bit...but cut him some slack-he is still a new comer....mayble your support staff should have more of an active role...

Shadab was the one who convinced Babar to deploy Saud when Babar was going with Rauf. Some learnings for the leadership group

Saud is a decent 6th option to have. Haris Sohail was doing that role for sometime.

Shadab is actually a good captain and a very useful player, always contributing atleast in one other discipline aprt from his fielding. I hope he gets his confidence back in bowling with couple of wickets.

Should be Shadab's last series for a while if he fails to perform in the remaining matches. Then again, the useless selector has his favorites. Their poor performances or stats don't matter.

Average spinner and a useless batsman with no power hitting capability

Need to bring back Shaheen or Hassan from one end for a couple of overs spell here

The only positive I’m looking to take from this series is hopefully we get a solid batter out of Saud. And then the exit of Misbah and Waqar. I’m sorry to say this but if we lose this odi series then Babar should be relieved of his captaincy (although would not happen as too soon) . The selectors should also develop some brain cells and stop selecting solely based on the psl tournament which is no more than a Mickey Mouse t20 tournament and maybe do their job properly and scout the local list a matches etc.

What a delivery from Shadab. The quicker one that went straight on.

Shadab and Saud have put the game in balance again here with couple of wickets and tight overs

Thats a really good comeback by the team. This is what happens when you bowl wicket to wicket. Only one has to miss the batsmen

Overdoing it now with the spin

Not at all. We needed more proper spinners against these new English batsmen who dont play quality spin that well.
An especially at Lords pitch thts always provides some assistance to.the spinners

He has some decent game sense but, he really needs to improve as a player and start producing match changing performances. He is still young but, I think its high time he starts showing the upward trajectory.

Not everything is about Power hitting, even in a limited over cricket you need players to allow the team play full overs and knock around for quick runs.

Don't hate appreciate

He's playing as a all rounder and is doing much better than fahi ashraf

Lack of first class cricket and his time off due to injuries / fitness issues have stopped his progress I believe.

Shadab Khan with a peach of a delivery haters haters haters

Dont get carried away bro. Shadab's got absolutely no utility with a bat and as proper spinner he should be doing a lot more. Vince is no special player of spin in fact he's a failure at international level

Decent overall leadership in last 7-8 overs. Would like to see Shadab, Rizwan and even Hassan contributing more in that leadership group just like some of them did today.

Babar is a young captain so he needs the support on the field from some of these guys with leadership experience.

Hate? I want some consistent performances from players who have been in the team for several years now. Not everyone can jump up and down after once in a blue moon performance.

Totally. He needs to take a break for T20 leagues in my opinion for atleast a season and work on his fitness as well as to play full FC season. His bowling as well as batting can both need refinement of the basics and those 9-10 matches will make him learn more than he would learn from any T20 league.

Even Kohli still has multiple players give him their opinions during the match. But in Pakistan and PP people start saying they are the ones captaining instead of the captain.

He sure does.
It was just extremely frustrating watching from overs 6 to 15...
Simple things then could have changed everything. Still not sure if he's learnt though because situation is completely different now
