In the aftermath of a humiliating 9-wicket loss to the England reserve side, what should Pakistan change looking ahead to the must-win 2nd ODI? Or should the same side be persisted with to get it right next match?
 
Whole interest has been killed. Don't know how to motivate myself to watch another match of this series.

I fear it could be a repeat of the first match. So will it be worthy of watching ?

Shadab Khan - 17 wkts @ 48.82 & 174 runs @ 21.75 (sr 75) in 17 ODIs
Faheem Ashraf - 5 wkts @ 114.0 & 103 runs @ 11.4 in 13 ODIs

It was an off day, kinda like vs WI in the WC 2019. I still back us to take the series 2-1. You won't be 0/2 everyday.
 
Sadly it may end up as a washout... I'm keenly monitoring the weather as i've planned to watch the game @ Lords but it doesn't look convincing at all :(
 
Highest ODI average by Pakistani in England:

Sarfaraz Ahmed: 54.23
Imam Ul Haq: 53.90
Babar Azam: 50.30

Should Sarfaraz ahmed be in the playing XI ?

Don't blame the players; some of them played well under different management, so skill/execution is out of the question... It all boils down to what management wants them to do on the field, and how they react when things go bad..
 
Just looks like light rain with a few clouds, Lord's will be desperate to get this game on. They cannot suffer another financial loss.
 
Win the toss and bowl first.

Play 4 pacers (Haris, Shaheen, Hasan, and Hasnain).
 
If top batting clicks Fahim Ashraf's batting is not required, so he can be replaced by Husnain who is more likely to get wicket or two than Fahim, and can bat quite decent too for a tailender to make up for Fahim's 15 runs.

I agree with this. Faheem really brings nothing at all. If the batting fails he won't do anything to rescue us, if it clicks he won't be needed. With the ball he's too harmless.
 
It was a fluke win by England. Their second string side is not capable of beating Pakistan over a course of 5 or more ODI series.
 
Both of the odis will be rain effected so that excuse they already have in place.

Just hope we bat again and are ready for the T20 series. Most likely with the amount of changes it’s looking like even that side will be out of practice too.
 
Replace Shadab with anyone. This guy is a liability these days both in batting and bowling.
 
Another thrashing on the cards unless babar and rizwan fire. Bowling attack is toothless
 
Hasnain can get the ball to swing, and he has some control over that swing as well.

Hasnain and Shaheen should open with the new ball.

Haris and Hasan to bowl with the old ball.

Update from PCB:

Pakistan ODI squad to leave for London today - No practice will be held today.

Haris Sohail is detaching himself from bubble today and will leave for Pakistan in a day or 2.

The first match of any series is always very important but yesterday was a bad day and we are a much better team than the one that gave that performance in the 1st ODI

Whenever we play badly in a match, we all sit together and review our mistakes with the help of coaches and analysts, who then point out mistakes so that we can play better in the upcoming matches

I am sure we will make a comeback at Lord's as I have full confidence in our team's abilities

Our recent performances at Lord's have been excellent and it can be said that conditions in this ground are favorable for us

Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq also scored well at Lord's during the World Cup and I achieved my best bowling figures of my career also at this ground - all we need are good partnerships in batting and bowling

In England, Pakistan cricket team has always had the support of fans and there was also an encouraging crowd in Cardiff

It is hoped that Pakistani cricket fans will also come to London to watch the match
 
That was utter humiliation but there is space for an excuse, Pakistan were playing their first game in England for quite some time and they have a young or inexperienced group of players.

That's the only excuse!

A loss at Lord's and the PCB needs to review their whole set up.

Having said that, I think Pakistan need stick to their guns and if this is their best XI, then stick with it. The worst part is it looks to be a wet day on Sunday and the match will suffer, may be called off.

Edit: Pakistan had won 10 of their last 12 ODIs before Cardiff...so this loss could be viewed as a blip for now.

Who would you have Hasnain come in for? I suppose Faheem, in order to retain the spin option of Shadab.

It's not all gloomy. We had a bad day. This happens to teams.. I still back the boys to win this series. There are crucial ODI super league points at stake.
 
I personally think Pak should go with the same team unless conditions demand a change. Pak was horrible in the first ODI and never were in the game from the very start. When you dont even bat the 50 overs then its more to do with the application than combination.

Yes, I'd play Hasnain for Faheem because realistically, Faheem doesn't offer much with the ball nor the bat.
 
Problem is imam Babar and rizwan can’t come one after the other. All similar type of players. Send maqsood at 3 with this ODI team and then shut shop. Let’s be honest after 3 down we aren’t ever going to recover so it’s all about playing till over number 40 for this team and nudge it around for 2-4 runs an over and get around 70+ in last 10 overs.
 
I doubt Misbah would make any change after one humiliating defeat.

They just need to brush it off as a bad day and hopefully perform much better in game 2. Game 1 unfortunately showed how mediocre a team we have become that we were annihilated by a B team. There really needs to be a much better showing in game 2. Misbah is lucky in that he will not be held accountable even if we lose 3-0.
 
Heavy rain forecast for tomorrow morning so expect a late start and reduced overs. Pakistan should look to bowl first . Shohaib Maqsood will be a good surprise I feel.
 
Forecast is better in the afternoon so we should be getting a game. Hope Pakistan puts up a fight.
 
Bowling attack is useless

No real swing or seam bowlers and all of them are very very expensive.

How can you have Rauf and Hasan Ali in the same team is mind boggling
 
Looking at weather forecast, it looks like play will be abandoned. Pakistan won’t be able to win the series, embarrassing.
 
No harm if Pakistan pick 11 bowlers - don’t think there will be a full game.
 
It will be raining all day. No point in getting up early instead have a long sleep.
 
6 hours to go and no rain so far. Maybe it might rain in the evening but according to the weather forcast, it has to be raining now as well
 
Looks fine as of now. Might have to see how it goes in a while. Getting updates from a friend of mine. Maybe an on time start as of now. But weather was predicted to be all raining since 6 am 😁
 
It was predicted to rain all the morning but rain hasn't started yet.
