Are they broadcasting it on YouTube?

If so, can someone post link plz!

The reason both captains wanted to bat first is that the team who is batting last on day 5 will be struggling on a turning pitch.

England have won the toss and will bat. Steven Finn confirmed in the XI.

No way have Australia left out Rhino & included Starc & Siddle. :))) :)))

England team :
AN Cook*, JE Root, IJL Trott, KP Pietersen, IR Bell, JM Bairstow, MJ Prior†, SCJ Broad, GP Swann, ST Finn, JM Anderson
Australia team :
SR Watson, CJL Rogers, EJM Cowan, MJ Clarke*, PJ Hughes, SPD Smith, BJ Haddin†, PM Siddle, JL Pattinson, MA Starc, AC Agar

this seriously is a poor australian team, il b shocked if this goes in to the 5th day to b honest, the batting is worse than pakistans

While I do want England to win, it's in my nature to support the underdogs so I hope the Aussies can pull off a shock in this test and set up a competitive series.

Poor bowling by Patto, needs to improve a lot.

Can't waste the new ball

Lol and where is Oozy Kwaja btw ? Many experts were punting on him to be their best batsman after Clarke in this series ?

Starc getting a bit of shape . What is that thing on Patto's lip ? Pitch has cracks visible on 1st morning .

South Africa (A) has a chance of beating Australia back to back in a space of 7 months

Finally proper Test cricket after yonks!

Can't believe Aus left Harris out. Not convinced at all about Starc in Tests. Siddle yeah he's got heart but Harris is a much better bowler than him as well.

Cookie munsta out! Patto patto patto oi oi oi!

in a way its Harris's fault.

He gets hurt like every game.

Australia's bowling line up looks so good!

Pattinson
Starc
Siddle
Watson
Agar
Clarke

Yeah I guess that's his only chink in the armour. But still would have played him 1st Test and Faulkner maybe as back up instead of Smith.

Pattinson is a bit scary.

Pattinson was the only bright spot in Australia's tour to India which was otherwise a disaster

Somehow Starc always comes across to me as a LOI bowler. Bowls those yorker kind balls. Still has to work for test matches.

Trott on strike.

Yes Harris is very good but if he gets injured in a test match then it puts much more pressure on the other pacers as they then have to take up more of the workload which not only decreases their pace and effectiveness but also increases their chance of also picking up an injury.

At the end of the day having Siddle/Starc for 5 days is better than having Harris for 3/4 days.

BREAKING: Joe Root has been given detention for skipping school to play cricket

NOT Tom Waterhouse ‏@NOT_TWaterhouse 2m
Someone needs to bowl Joe Root out. It's nearly time for him to catch the bus to school. #Ashes

Dean Smith ‏@umaforce 2m
Joe Root would be grateful the 1st Test started on Wednesday. Schools back next week #ashes #babyface

Dan Owen ‏@dano606 1m
What's Joe Root doing out of school uniform? #freedress? #ashes

Harris in for Siddle and Faulkner in for Starc and it'll be even better imo.

Siddle is a must. That guy has the biggest heart of all. Gives it all. Faulkner is again, an LOI bowler. But yes, if Harris fits into this, this pack will be great

Cookie munsta has looked out of sorts lately. Maybe this Ashes will be closer than first thought.

Trott off the mark with a :four

Starc has looked unimpressive so far. Should have been Bird or Faulkner in his place. But there is still time to get better in this test.

That's where Faulkner could have come in imo. What you say makes complete sense but I'm more for taking a calculated gamble than playing it safe. This Aussie side doesn't stand a chance if they try to play it safe against this English side imo. No risk no reward.

Siddle comes in to the attack.

Faulkner has an excellent FC record but not so impressed when i see him play.

O Keefe is one guy who should have been here ah well.

Agar I have no idea about.

Personally I think Steve Smith will play better than Philip Hughes

:four more to Trott

No doubt he's got mad heart but I reckon Harris and even Bird are much better options. As for Faulkner he's a better option than Starc in Tests imo. Starc bowls a few gooduns and the rest of the time seems to lose the plot.

Siddle has a big heart I agree but do Aussies consider him better than Bird and Harris, I am not sure. An

Cook seems to have dozed off. lol

do you blame him. Has to sit on the balcony all day.

Viv Richards used to fall asleep while not batting. I think KP does the same as well.

He's not though. Thought he was.

Faulkner seems to be in great touch with both the bat and ball tho. Might not look much of a threat but if he picks up wickets and scores runs game after game worth a gamble I say. OKeefe would have definitely given Aus more options. Not sure why he's been ignored. I remember him doing very well in a tour match against Eng before the last Ashes in Aus. Haven't seen Agar but from what I have heard decent with both the bat and ball. I reckon Lyon is a bit hard done by though.

Agar's action is quite similar to Daniel Vettori's.

Agar is bladdy tall. Pretty good over that.

If Aussies were playing Smith, I'd have not played a spinner and played Faulkner.

Feel the spinner is going to be used as a defensive option, someone to give the pacers a break. So I say pick another pacer, make their attack more penetrative and Smith's capable of some overs of spin, even Clarke himself.

Australia's pacers are so much better than their spinners, think in most cases best not to pick a specialist spinner.

The word is that this wicket should give the spinners quite a bit of assistance later on. :ajmal

Thing is I think Australian pacers will do better than spinners in helpful conditions to them. That's the gap.

Aussies best chance is to pick up early wickets, and I think that's more likely with a better pace attack.

Can't believe Aussies left out Harris.

Trott the big wicket. Guy seems to be in super touch.

Top notch batting this. Trott very much in control and Root has looked very solid as well.
