Bair not holdin himself back. Could be dangerous but England will take all the runs they can get :nasser

Watto getting swing both ways, its a weird pitch this one. Nothing happens and then every ball looks like a wicket, reminds me of that South African green mamba pitch.

Batting lineups give Watson the trundler too much respect.

Wow Starc finally seems to have found his mojo great over this

Starc is predominantly an LOI bowler. He seems to be designed that way.

I still feel Ryan would've been a better choice if available

anyone else notice Michael Holding almost never uses the word reverse swing, while Gower and Bothm use it in like ever 3rd sentence

Rhino is a better bowler, but it would have made the attack pretty same same. And Starc has four wickets for the game.

Holding actually knows what he is talking about.

Yeah seems to be somewhat alergic to the red cherry :asif

Agreed RA, but we never know what Harris would've done on this pitch.

And I for one do not believe much in this variety attack kinda stuff. We've all seen SA wrecking havoc with three right arm fast bowlers and a heck in a spinners role.

Hmmm yeah I dont have a strong view either way. What I do know is there is no way Patto and Harris would play five Tests in a row so maybe they thought both were too much of a risk first up.

Yep Holding was like swing is swing, you can call it what you want.

When Wasim and Waqar did reverse it was full, straight and swining late.

According to Bothm and Gower any ball swining (full or half) is reverse lol!

That's the best reasoning I could come up with too:yk

Don't have high hopes for the rest of Englands batsmen bar Prior.

Beefy's quite proud of England's abilitity to get the ball to reverse. :nasser

He should have said

"I didn't wear a box. They didn't make ones big enough". :))

Ehgads, we in Australia are being subjected to a Mark Nicholas travel show on Britain during lunch.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Hope some soccer thug headbutts the fool

Anything over 200 would be good but a 200 lead at the moment looks nothing more then a pipe dream. The way this ball is swinging and the new ball in 8 overs, and Bell and Bairstow being pretty 20-30 runs and get out type of batsmen. 150 lead is more realistic, and won't be enough.

Close game. Aussie is the favourite is at the moment. But we're one partnership away from being back in it.

You've got to love how juicy these surfaces become when other teams play against each other, as soon as South Africa comes knocking you get featherbeds (not that they help anyway), oh well..

They'll think twice next time :amla

Think England are ahead. Think Aussies will struggle to chase anything more than 150 on this pitch. It's not easy now and it's getting harder to bat on.

Though for some reason while I usually support England after Pakistan, and generally anyone but the Aussies when they were doing great, in my heart for some reason I want the Aussies to win.

SA did not play a test at Trent Bridge last year, so this is a strawman.

Prior, Broad, Swann are the keys IMO. They can put this one out of our reach but I think for us, much more than England, we need to win this Test.

were you born in Pakistan currently living/working in the UK?

Its very hard and rare for neutrals to root for England

Relish the moment. We thought the same for the better part of a decade and a half and were blanked 4-0 when our players got too aged.

It'll happen to you too, sooner or later - if the likes of David Miller and Colin Ingram and such are your younger generation.

and why did they not play there?

And there were reports of how green the pitches were for the 1st two Tests and England decided to mow alot of grass, why? Steyn?

I was born in UK, I lived all my life in UK. The only reason I support Pakistan is because my parents/family support them (who were born in Pakistan). It's nice to have a bit of a connection to Pakistan hence I support Pakistan. Something I can talk to in common, and amongst Pakistani/asian friends (and new Asian/Pakistani people I do meet). I'm not anti-English at all, it feels very natural to support England/UK cos that's what I do in pretty much every other sport. And I generally support England in cricket too if Pakistan's not playing.

Just for some reason Aussies have my support this year. But do agree England doesn't play the most exciting brand of cricket. Yet still for some reason English test matches, there are a lot of thrilling ones with last wicket stands to save the day etc. which makes the fun watching.

Or maybe the pitches look flat when your team plays because.....well they're a boring team
