Relish the moment. We thought the same for the better part of a decade and a half and were blanked 4-0 when our players got too aged.

It'll happen to you too, sooner or later - if the likes of David Miller and Colin Ingram and such are your younger generation.

of course it will happen, we will cop a pasting sooner rather than later.

In fact between 03-06(07) we were in a transitional period and copped some. But it was the process that pleased me, we brought alot of youngsters and they took that as part of a learning experience (AB, Amla, Steyn, Morkel) to some extent Smith as he was around 24 during that period.

Australia are doing the opposite, they have players that are bits and pieces and not many youngsters, is Watson a Test player? Is Rogers part of their future or just a fill gap player looking for a quick fix?
England... well they'll continue to import.

We've brought in a fair bit of youth.
Smith, Hughes, Starc, Pattinson and Agar in this match alone.

Saffers shouldn't worry about their future as long as Alviro Petersen and Behardien are alive.

Legends in the making.

Another difference is the mentality, in 04 we were a very young side and lost a series to England, but we did not create flat wickets so the youngsters can inflate their averages or settle into international cricket they had to learn the hard way.

Same applies when we played Australia in 06 we lost 3-0 but were very competitive in that series. Again we were playing in typical tough African conditions. We backed ourselves.
Maybe this is why our players average more away from home than at home (bar Kallis, not that he has been bad on his travels)

but the problem is the fill gap players in between (Smith, Watson, Rogers etc).
The sooner you sort out your opening pair the better and a solid number 3 it could be a Dravid esque or a Ponting type.
I refuse to believe Watson and Rogers are the future for Australia

so, who are you supporting?

Nobody is giving a damn!.........Eng also in tuk tuk mode RR 2.12 last 10 ovr 1.5............:misbah :azhar

Come on Australia. Pull it off. Make this series interesting.

I think England will get over 300 & set target of around 240-250 .

I reckon max Australia can chase is 220. Anything over and its Englands game.

AUS need these last 5 wicket without conceding over a 100.

Come on AUS!

Mistake was taking the new ball. Prior to that, things were under control and a wicket just fell.

The bowling stocks look very good though, variety etc Harris and Cummins need to sort out their injury woes

I hope Clarke is okay. He has been doing a lot of stretching the last hour in the field.

I may be a whinging pommie, but even I don't like to see opposition players injured.

England's won this I think. Some high class batting under pressure from Cook, KP and oddly enough Bell.

so, who are you supporting?

i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place actually.

Naturally you want to support the underdogs, but this is Australia we're talking about. They dismantled teams for so long (without humility as well) in a away its time for them to cop up. Their cowardise last year did not endear them in my heart too.

Then you have England who are too narcissistic for me (especially for a country living on borrowed talent)

When you are on top, humility never comes. Even if humility is there, it seems fake and artificial and reeks of undue modesty even if it's genuine.

New Zealand's test bowling attack played better against England than Australia's are.

i dont think so. Brazil have dominated football for decades and everyone loves them, Spain are modest too.
The All Blacks in rugby, they just go about their business in fact even though they are our rivals i was rooting for them against France in the WC.

I cant speak for the current SA side as i dont know how neutrals view them, but they are better than England (noise) and Australia (arrogance).

The current SA side is miles better then the England side however I believe in the UAE, we will present them a tough tough challenge.

Like in 2010 :yk

You talk about how others talk about past performances e.g. Afridi in 2009 but you don't realize you do the same your self with silly comments like these.

That was 3 years ago. A very very long time ago. This time we will challenge SA a whole lot better and I believe we WILL win.

Been a great ashes so far. Lived up to the hype. Funny how ashes in England in recent times have tended to be exciting while in Australia it's been one sided either way.

In 2010 Pakistan were in a better chance of winning the series than SA. In one of the tests another session would have sealed victory.

We were dominated for large portions but yeah I remember the last session. Could have got close before Misbah chickened out of the chase.

thats not what i'm talking about, i'm talking about success, humility and popularity.

re UAE: it will be tough, a 1-1 draw would be good for me.

Leading by 175 now Aussies have let this slip away a bit. Top knock by Bell one of his best.

Eng wickets on the whole tend to be proper traditional Test wickets. Usually something in it for everyone. Aus wickets have flattened out big time.

Blame CA and it's pandering to channel Nein

This is a make of break time for both teams. Another 50 runs and England would be favorites.

Taking the new ball early when the old one was hard to get away and doing a fair bit hurt the Aussies somewhat. Runs have been flowing thick and fast since then.

Closing in on a lead of 200 eng. This will take some getting for Aus. 250+ game over I feel.
