Goes to show how tough it's for the openers to even survive in England let alone scoring runs early on and also goes to show how tough we had been on Azhar Ali who has really done a really good job in England as an opener.

Azhar is the best test opener at the moment, hands down

Pujara....Mr.defense...doesnt bother scoring runs...Kohli...aggressive...always looking for runs.

I feel Pujara will be forced to go against his natural instinct and try to score singles which will result in an error and his wicket.

Can Kohli let Pujara be Pujara?

Looks like the game will be a draw anyways. Such a shame!

Kohli needs to play out of his skin to get out of this one. Indian batsmen need to use soft hands and make sure that they let the ball come to them rather than going for a forward defensive.

See the footage of the 1st Test between Pakistan and England in the early summer conditions. Both Asad and Azhar showed how they would let the ball come to them rather than prodding forward. This game is still far from over.

It seems it's coming down in buckets at lords .. very unlikely that we would have any play today..well done rain you just got saved the no.1 team from an embarrassment..

Not excuses...but fact. These are insane batting conditions. All teams would struggle here. How do you play 85mph leg break?

Yes this is the first time ever English conditions are supportive of swing and no team have ever played in any such conditions ever

been saying it for ages. He hit a 92 on his first tour in conditions not dissimilar against an Anderson who was younger and on fire. Then hits a big daddy hundred in 2016. Survives a torrid time a few months ago against Anderson and makes a fifty. He is a great great test player and a reliable batsman. These Indian opening batsmen other than Kohli dont really look in the same class..

I have said multiple times and anybody who have seen cricket for a while can see that Rahul cant play a moving ball. He just doesnt have the technique for that.

Good for him that pitches now a days except Eng and NZ are not very supportive of swing and also reverse swing has been minimized in LOIs.

He can. Technically he is as good as it gets, but it his mindset that needs to be tuned. He has the same problem as Kohli had in England in 2014; he prefers to get bat on ball early in his innings to get going.

Fending too much is not the way to go in these conditions. You have to be patient and wait for the right balls. Once you are in, you can dominate if you are good enough, and he is good enough.

The forecast says it is going to rain for the next 4 days. This may be the last over of the match. Shortest test match in recent times.

Kohli would love to have Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin, Laxman & Ganguly giving him company even at their current age! Such dreadful it has been... This is got to be one of the weakest batting lineup India has ever produced in Test Cricket! Its been masked by slow pitches/spinners at home and weaker opposition teams!

Fish and veg options.

I know dude but was wondering if they make special preparations when the opposition players are Muslims. I was at Lords 2 weeks back and the chicken there is all halal now so was wondering if they use the same meat suppliers...

Vijay is done. He struggled for a couple of centuries against Lankans and Afghans and fooled people. He is not the same player anymore. Time to bring in Shaw or Agarwal.

As per Rahul, he used to be a Test specialist. Now his LOI game has improved and his Test batting went to dogs. He deserves more chances, but he looks clueless out there.

I have no faith in Rahane either. It’s Kohli or bust.

Number one team in the world ladies and gentlemen

Agreed.. had it not been for that run out OF Sami Aslam we would have won that series hands down..

Haha sure sure...
Kohli also fluked his way to a 100 last game.
9 out of 10 he would be out below 20 runs max.

Thats true that he plays it early but, I think playing the ball early is something which isnt very easy to change especially when thats what you have been doing throughout your career and your whole technique and timing depends on when you meet bat with the ball.

This is what differs Kohli from the rest of the lot, he adapts his game exceptionally well. It took him a while for English conditions which I am still not very confident that he has got control over but in other conditions like SA, I have seen him grow in between innings and matches.

You might not agree but, I have seen Babar Azam grow in recent tour of Eng. Struggling even in LOIs in Eng previously and then giving such a cruical performance brfore getting injured in the 1st match against Eng was a great effort.

India need to apply themselves like Azhar and harry did on last hour of 1st day and 1st hour of 2nd day. That were extreme difficult conditions and set up the match for us.

Yes, we will know by the end of the series how comfortable he is in English conditions. He might perform due to his will power but, whenever a ball moves Kohli goes out of his comfort zone a bit. Its his achillis heel, which will always be his weak spot but he has the ability to handle his weaknesses better than how many players handle their strengths.

Pujara has the ability to play overs and stick in their but he is out of form.

Well these players do hv technical issues..no denying. But these are tough conditions to bat too.

of course they are but when Pakistan have to face these conditions just compare the posts from some people..(not saying Indian fans just in general). Just shows how silly some fans can be.

Not comparing or anything but Azhar, Haris and Asad batted in similar conditions and really held their own.

I won't mind if these players are technically or skillfully better, but they might be a settled batting unit by now! (Even Pakistan may have went through that phase when they got beaten by Srilanka at home) I am not giving excuse, but definitely our batting unit is clearly disturbed and there is no clear idea of what is the role of each player in the team and who is playing actually! Vijay is the only guy who might have lost his ability due to aging, but all others should have performed by now & should have been well settled by now! Clearly the coaching & captaining has disturbed the team like anything (Foolish players ignored the focal coaching of Kumble & gave preference to party-mood/friendly Shastri and it has came & bit themselves now! Rahane, Pujara, Rahul may end up their careers soon!) Kohli's individual performance & team's home wins is masking everything! Another dangerous thing (hopefully it doesn't happen for God sake) is if Kohli goes out of form then it might be extremely difficult even for him to get back to track! Such disturbed & disintegrated is the psyche of the team! In spite of these the team is putting up some challenge and that goes to show that the basic skill-set is still there in them!

Not sure you are watching the match. That ball from Broad to Kohli was like fast leg spin. The same delivery got Rahul out as well.

When Pak played the Lords test, conditions were far easier than this.

Selfish from kohli. Other than his batting everything has been poor on this tour.

Ever heard of seam?

Was that a tribute to the late Barry Chuckle ?

Comedic running - India making life harder for themselves with these self inflicted wounds.

Well your folks are failing in two out of two tests atm :))

It definitely looks like they are failing every time! If this was backed with poor bowling (as usually India does overseas in the past) then the results would have been even more embarrassing, at least the bowling is now capable of picking 10 opposition wickets for lesser runs and hence the matches are looking competitive... (or it could also be because of sportive wickets! Also maybe because India are looking to play 5 bowlers consistently... Pandya maybe useless but at least he is keeping other bowlers fresh) I don't think India has had a perfect flat pitch in test match overseas for a long time now (or for that matter even at home! We played on tough pitches even against Australia at home)

Ever heard of seam?

heard and played more cricket than you..Ok you dont have to trust me...just hear what sky commentators are saying. These are drastic conditions for batting. Tell me how do you play 135 mph Warnesque leg spin??? Also these stop start...stop start dont help batsman either.

We got three more tests to come.So only have to bat better in one of them to equal your boys :p
Also just look how our boys murdered SriLanka in SriLanka ( innings victories every single one) and your capitualted against them in your own home.

This is turning out to be a disastrous tour for India.

Not even 1.5 tests are complete...its a 5 test series. I expect us to win this series 2-1 or 3-1. This team has shown they can come from behind...unlike Dhoni's team. We did the samw against SL, vs Aust, won the last test in SA etc.

Keep in mind we also drew 4 match series 2-2 in 2016 while your boys got murdered..... pehlay oska qarza tou chukao chotoo

Cricket reset itself after CT 2017 according to cricketjoshila bhai so records prior to that don't matter.

You might have played Pyjama cricket then because this is test cricket and here you have to keep looking at good balls and learn to leave them. Excuses like these don't work here. Rain didn't force Pujara to involve in a run out.

Anyone living near Lord's, how's the weather looking? Would hate for England to miss this opportunity to win this match. A lomg way to go of course

You leave ball outside off stump which has no risk of hitting the stumps. But how do you leave the a fast leg break which pitches in middle and leg?? As I said before, I dont care if you or anyone here think it as excuses. Even Sky commentators are saying the same that these are drastic conditions for batting.

We are the best team.
We don't need international cricket.
We can beat England without match practice.

When you hear things like these from some IPL fans and see the results you will laugh at them too not at the team though. I knew this is gonna happen without practice matches.
These defeats aren’t humbling your lot though. The amount of excuses the fans are coming up with is nauseous. If the fans’ condition is such, imagine the mindset of the players right now. Just look at this Cliff guy run around the forum thinking of every excuse imaginable rather than accept that sans Kohli, this test team has looked bang average all tour.

Bhai nobody will remember all these things. Only the series result will be remembered.

Keep the personal insults at your own home,Bhaijan. This is just an internet forum.Nobody is waging a war here.

You are not being optimistic at all you are just being a sore loser by giving excuses after excuses.

Wow getting personal like this allowed in this forum?? Never knew

I just said that this team has capacity to come back from behind as it had shown vs SL series, vs Aust series. All I am saying, just hold your horses until the series is over. I expect Ind to win the series 2-1 or 3-1

Why am I sore loser again??

Would like to see Indian players get in the head of England players with some sledging.

First of all stop acting like a new member here. You are an old one with a new account.

Look at the excuses you are giving here and you will know why you are being a sore loser.
