After rain forced the first T20I of the series to be abandoned, England and Pakistan prepare for another match in Manchester on Sunday.

Overview
England v Pakistan, 2nd T20I
The Old Trafford, Manchester
2nd IT20 v Pakistan: Sunday 30 August at Emirates Old Trafford (2.15pm start) – Live on Sky Sports Cricket on air at 1.30pm, live on BBC One on air at 1.45pm

The weather remains in focus in Manchester with the forecast showing humidity above 60% for Sunday. Nine venues that hosted a T20 game in England on Thursday and Friday, including T20 Blast matches, saw washed out affairs.

England are unlikely to make many changes. One option they have is to bring in David Willey, who was effective in the limited-overs series against Ireland with the new ball. Willey is also an effective batsman against spin and pace and could be handy if the middle order has a collapse, as on Friday.

With Jason Roy out of the series, Tom Banton grabbed his chance and could once again be a key player for England. Dawid Malan, who has made double digit scores in each of his 11 T20I games, will likely continue at No.3.

For the first game, Pakistan left out Haider Ali, who impressed in the Pakistan Super League earlier this year. The youngster is likely to be sidelined again as the team did not bat on Friday.

Wahab Riaz, who missed out, is the only one with a chance to come in on Sunday. He might replace one of Mohammad Amir or Haris Rauf, with Shaheen Shah Afridi impressing yet again with the new ball.

Remember the last time

Pakistan looked a far cry from the side that was at the top of the MRF Tyres ICC T20I Team Rankings until a few months ago, when 21-year-old Banton went on the attack. However, they went on to reaffirm their bowling efficiency, reducing England to 131/6 before rain intervened.

Overall, England maintain a 10-4 win-loss record against Pakistan in T20Is, with one match tied.

What they said

Tom Banton, England opener: "When the white-ball side is at full strength I'm probably not going to break into it. I am just going to keep trying to score runs and put other guys under pressure and we'll see how it goes from there. I don't want to look too far ahead as there is a lot of cricket to be played. It's one innings, I could go duck, duck the next two."

Babar Azam, Pakistan captain: "There is Shoaib, there is Hafeez. And then if you look at the bowling, there is Shaheen Shah and Wahab Riaz. There is Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf. There is a good mix of seniors and juniors. So I'm hopeful that we can win the series."

Due to the first match being a new result
I don't see any changes in the squad knowing PCB management however the need to give youngsters a chance and try different combination of players

I would like to rest Shaheen he played well but to give him rest and bring in Naseem or Hasnain

And would bring in haidar Ali in place of imad wasim or Shadab don't need both Shadab or imad can go with one

Disagree with naseem being played he should not play any of the t20s he needs rest.but I'd agree haider needs to play but dont see that happening less injury or fakhar misses out

This will be free to air for UK viewers on BBC1. First live cricket match on the BBC since the late 1990s.

How's the forecast like?

It will be a shame if there is another washout.

Pakistan start off as favorites.

Shaheen I find needs more rest because he bowls in all three formats and has his place in the international sqaud

It seems the intention essentially of the PCB is get him to bowl on all three formats if he bowls in some t20 matches it won't be too much for him since he is younger too

At the same time we can see what he can do more or less in the shorter format of the game

Still can't get over the disgrace of a fact that shoaib malik is still playing international cricket. And hafeez. This is pathetic.

Shaoib akhtar was stating in his show that it is the best side dunno if hes being sarcastic or serious

Yep it was Channel 4.

Looking forward to hearing Soul Limbo again.

Yes that will be nice.

It must be ten years since I watched cricket live, except the WC Final. All I get is highlights.

Yeh baat!

Old Trafford looking nice - Game on hai :)

Is t20 cricket really international cricket though? It's all a bit of a hit and a giggle no?

At the very least, they're rightfully no longer a part of the cricket that matters: test and odis.

I'm happy for both to die a slow death in t20 cricket, if needs be, then disrupt the rebuilding process in tests and odis.

Shadab Khan:

"We have prepared well for this series, we played a few practice games and we have good momentum"

"We hadn't played T20 games for a while but the guys are looking in good touch so we are hoping for a good and exciting series"

"Scoring runs in PSL where bowling standards are very good has given me a lot of confidence; PSL games may not have been international matches but the standard is tough, so I have gained a lot of confidence from that and if given the chance, I will try and replicate the same performances in international games as well"

Inzimam’s analysis: drop Rauf, bring in Wahab, keep Haider Ali on the bench “even though he has the potential to become a specialist T20 batsman” :afridi Also, since in series like this against England you don’t have the opportunity to experiment, it’s necessary to beat the opposition team and you need to go back to experience. In fact, you should win the first two matches and then only experiment in the third one.

How many issues can you spot in this? You guys still think this man should be Chief Selector? As atrocious as Misbah is, Inzi is not the solution.

I remember once Inzi and Saurav were doing a show on sports tak with Vikrant Gupta just before the Asia cup 2018. Inzi was talking about Ambati Rayudu (33 year old then) that he was a special "talent" for India and he will be the one captaining India after Kohli resigns. Not "should be" but will be. :))

Still don't understand whether he was serious or not.

Yeah, T20 is just a bit of fun, really just to bring in crowds which is a bit ironic in the current climate.

That being said, we shouldn't be playing dinosaurs and should be giving chances to youngsters/new players. There should only be one slot if any for the likes of Malik, Hafeez and Ifti.

Inzi's had his time (for now) but he still delivered an ICC trophy which was inconceivable at the time.

Even with a streaky side like Pakistan, you know the only thing Misbah's going to deliver is losses and players that expired years ago.

Shan Masood and Jimmy Anderson will do commentary on BBC One.

Should be fun!

Wen paks chief destroyer WOAKES ain’t playing u knw it’s a B team

Pak should be smashing em out of sight!!

Both the two OAP’s will be over 40 in the next World Cup and they’ll still be there!

WASIM AKRAM is a Banton fan – and is just glad he is not bowling at him! (speaking on Sky)

“I was very impressed. He is a tremendous player, very positive. As a bowler if I am running in to a batsman like him I am always on the back foot as he has shots all around the ground, he’s 360. He is a very bright prospect for England and world cricket.“

Mushtaq on Sky saying Hafeez and Malik are in the middle-order to play the anchor role !

Is this another Test series ?

England have won the toss and bowling first

Are these people serious? Can't they see English team with players like Banton, Billings. Are we supposed to hold both ends in T20?

Sky seem quite obsessed with Wahab Riaz. Droned on a lot last game about why he wasn't playing, and now they asked the question to Babar at the toss. Have they watched Pakistan play?

Playing with 8 possible bowling options and 3 players in the top 4 all looking to play the ''anchor'' role.

Mind boggling.

When we will understand no body cares about prestige in these T20s . Real thing is the WC. And we know how Malik and Hafeez will fail there

Too less batting we have..too many bowlers not even need amir i think now we are batting first i think we will struggle to set a total

The same pitch is being used so it would be interesting if we score 150+. Spinners might be in play to stop England. All eyes are on Pak batting though.

Very impressed by BBC’s coverage.

Looks like they will be doing this frequently.

WASIM AKRAM, meanwhile, says Pakistan will dominate the middle overs when they come to bowl…

“I thought Pakistan came back into the first game brilliantly, especially the spinners after Banton’s early onslaught. They got six wickets. I think Pakistan are very strong in the middle overs – overs eight to 15 they will come back strong every time because of the experience and variation in the bowling attack.”

Waqar - I would ball yorkers to someone like joss butler or full, give away a single fine but I’d back myself to hit his toe

Pakistan giving chances to youngsters (Hafeez lara, Malik suriya, Iftikhaar Hussy) keeping in view world Cup 2027....
Babar due to your captaincy you will lost all respect which you have earned as a batsman.. And because of your stupid captaincy people will soon demand for your retirement...

Shan Masood would make a great commentator but I also hope he makes it as Head Coach of Pakistan one day. Pakistan cricket could do with an intelligent mind like his.

Must also add looking classy as usual.

Indeed looked very classy. Promising signs.

Waqar on best bowler

"I believe in modern cricket that if you are a little bit unorthodox and have an action that can make you trouble the batsman or make him think twice [you can have success], so I would go for Jasprit Bumrah. He is a wicket-taker and has a beautiful slower delivery. He has yorkers, goes wide of the crease and is difficult to handle, I feel."

Which modern white-ball bowlers do you like, WASIM?

"As a left-armer, I like Mitchell Starc. He has pace and he bowls one of the best yorkers in world cricket. He is old school and relies on his pace with the new ball or the old ball. A wicket-taking bowler."

87-88mph from Mahmood, that's generally his region.

England know Fakhar struggles with balls around legstump and at his body, and that's where they're targeting him already.

I remember Eng used to have a halwa bowler Sajid Mahmood who used to get smashed everywhere about a decade ago
