What's new

England vs Pakistan | 5th ODI | Leeds | May 19th, 2019 | England innings

Butler is just an ordinary batsman. Averages 41 in ODI. Dont know why people create hype.

41 at a SR of 120 is extraordinary, he can easily average 50+ if brings that SR down to a 100.

He is as good as de Villiers. Unreal talent, and we have to hope he fails today.

It will be used against us as well

It was already being used throughout the series, Imad, Asif etc have been targeted during the middle end overs when they were trying to hit. Other teams are always early to adapt.

I don’t believe a bowler who’s been underperforming in ODIs can a form issue and he has been free of injury. Also I don’t believe he’s been “found out” or a “first year wonder”. It’s rather obvious to see success has got to his head and he’s not the only one. Same goes for Sarfraz as well.
Yes I am sure it makes sense to you

Aww r u really hoping that he fails I doubt that

Waqar, you can’t compare 2017 wickets with these ones.

Yeah one of those is not the same as the other. Imad never got going. And Asif walloped a few short balls and has two fifties in crunch time

Ok chill there bud not as good as AB.

We should open a thread now named.
" sarfraz doesn't need good keeping to stay in the team"

224 in 30 overs....

Doubling the 30 over score......... 448 in 50 overs in definitely on the cards

Its not going to be fruitful every time, its a useful weapon if used sparingly and with proper plan to deceive the batsmen.

He is every bit as good as him. A bit behind him in terms of development because England were too conservative prior to 2015.

He was a LO regular but they didn't give him a chance at test level until last year.

Difficult to say if he will surpass AB yet.

These picthes are simply atrocious. Its not fair on the bowlers.

Maybe in terms of explosiveness and finishing ability, but overall AB is way ahead. Just go look at the way AB played against India in India in 2015 and virtually won his team the series. Doubt Buttler can construct an innings like AB.

England should get close to 500 here, what a monster batting line up

Not giving him regular chances in Test cricket is the reason why his development was stunted.

He only played around 15 Tests between 2014 and 2018 which is criminal underutilization of a player of his talents.

ICC really needs to work on the standards of wickets, leaving it completely in the hand of boards will reap such results.

Only reason England struggled a bit in WI was because there was something in the wickets for fast bowlers and Eng was completely bamboozled. Even ODI series was drawn.

He needs Test cricket under his belt to evolve. De Villiers struggled in Tests early in his career but South Africa kept faith and played him in every game.

England should have done the same with him.

Because they didn't know how to use him in tests. They didn't want him to just play his natural game. But they should have batted him at 7 and said play your natural game.

That was still a good ball from Shaheen but where at the fielders man how many are allowed the circle like 2 cricket is getting ridiculous man a fielder should have been there

Shaheen looks better than he did in previous games.

Absolutely. Him and Hasan getting back in form is really important, with Shadab and Amir back in we will have better bowling lineup for WC.

This is the most assured innings that Root has played in months, looks in total control out there and every inch of a class player.

250 in 34 ov....geez...pathetic pitches....400 is the new 300...i dont think WC pitches will be like this

Shadab can be hit for runs. Let's not act like he is a saviour.

Will not be surprised if Hasnain get’s «injured» or simply dropped in expense of Faheem.

For those annoyed by this trash you can tune into sky sports to see the Wilder fight in 10 mins

Imad wasim has been our match winner for the past 2 years - Waqar
This could be a great opening line for the book "things that never happened".

When Hasnain was picked solely due to pace you could clearly see other bowlers were better like Haris Rauf, M Musa and M Ilyas

He is miles better than Yasir and Imad. They both average close to 50 and Shadab averages around 27 for a reason and that too with good economy. Not saying he is extraordinary but he will definitely be an upgrade and thus make this bowling unit stronger.

I really didn't understand why Husnain was preferred over him. Harris is better in almost every aspect

Virat kohli didn’t say jack about him he just bowled to him in the nets there was no real source saying that virat praised him it’s all fake news but yes he’s better than Hasnain and much quicker

Pitch and conditions
Headingley generally loses some of its capricious edge for white-ball games, although India's powerful line-up struggled to 256 for 8 there last year only for England to knock them off two down. In this season's Royal London Cup, it is behind only Trent Bridge as the fastest-scoring ground, with runs coming at 6.81 an over. The forecast is for a cloudy day with minimal chance of rain and mild temperatures.

I doubt he knows the difference between T20s and ODIs like most of our players. One size fits all is the policy to go.
