3 cheapo tail wickets for Swann to make his figures look decent!

Finn is such a woman. Sledge the top order batsmen not the tailenders.

Sri Lanka lost last 8 wickets for 109 runs...

Finn's got potential to become a good bowler, but need to build pressure and bowl consistently well. There is no point taking fivers when the opposition have ammasssed huge scores. Won't win you games. You need bowlers who can make early inroads, win you a match. Finn can't do this yet. Even as third seamer, he'll leak runs loosing all the pressure generated by the other two. One of the bowlers really who's stats don't represent the bowler he is.

He could come good eventually. Not now. Needs to quicken his pace, I mean let's face it I don't see him ever getting Mcgrath like accuracy. And work on his accuracy big time too.

From what I saw of the ashes, Bresnan really looked like a complete bowler. Perhaps a little hasty basing on one test series, but he looked like a genuine wicket taker, able to use the conditions and set up the wicket. Even in the world cup he impressed. I'd like to give a punt on him for a little while, see what me might do.

I don't rate Shehzad so much doesn't look like a test bowler, or even a particularly good ODI one. Guess he might be worth at least trying out though.

Vice-captain Cook and captain Strauss walk out to the middle. Eng have a 7 run lead in their second innings.

All set here we go first ball of Englands second innings
Welagedara to strauss

The conditions are more then perfect for the bowlers. The bowlers dream for conditions like these, and SL bowlers are certainly lucky to be having a such a big advantage.

This will be a good test for England batsmen, especially Trott and Cook - who both have been in solid form.

Strauss and Cook v left-arm seamers...forget it.

Somebody will get in.

I miss this flamboyant KP

Could be KP's last test innings for a while.........

Johnnnnnny.

If he plays late he should get through this.

Finally some good test cricket again after days of boredom.

Who would you put in at 4 then?

Bell cant play up the order, Morgan maybe and then bring in Bopara at 6??

I wouldn't change things round.

I wouldn't drop him even if he got a blob.

However, they might do both.

The problem with KP is that there is no one half as good as him to fill in his spot, but at the same time i think he needs to stop taking his place for granted and go and do some grunt work in the county.

We need this partnership, just pleeeeeease make it a bit more interesting to watch than the last few times chaps.

Would be good to see England bowled out and Sri lanka to have a run chase on day 5!

:)

This is all set up for Trott to get out in a few overs when the ball has lost its shine, and Herath will then come on against KP.

When a player like Trott gets in he is just far too good for this quality of bowling. His technique looks amazing out there.

He blunted Amir and Asif at this ground last year and I wouldn't put another ton past him.

Trott is superb - what a fine import ...62/1 & 37 overs left - some on lunkans ,2 quick wickets & we will have a match !!!

Amir & Asif blunted Strauss,Cook,Pieterson,Morgan Collingwood who all averaged in 20s

awful decision RE light, no wonder test cricket is dying.

Come on Lanka I've had a crappy day and nothing would cheer me up like a good old-fashioned, english batting collapse.

we actually got a first innings lead from that position and we have been pwning the bowlers again. we're so good we're so good we're so good. it's actually getting a bit boring now. I reckon we can still win the game Cardiff-style.
