Morgan is a class batsmen who you can watch all day, the same can't be said of Prior.
 
Great way to finish the over - The cherry meets the boundary rope once more as England pass the 250 mark.
 
Partnership is 87 at 5 runs an over. Superb.

Prior continues to be a very underrated test player.
 
That was very good bowling and thankfully the DRS was in place to ensure the correct decision.
 
Morgan gone. Can Sri Lanka pick another couple of wickets especially Prior before stums today?
 
2nd new ball is swinging. 8 down is a good target by half 6.
 
How good is prior- extremely under rated!

Why isn't Prior used in: ODI, T20?? Hes a really attacking batsman.
 
Lazy shot from Morgan, should have to a well deserved hundred.

A couple more here and Lanka will go home the happier side.

Prior imo is an average player. All he needs is a decent bowler bowling full and straight and it's curtains for him. Pak did it last year and Aus did it in the winter, Lanka are just poor tactically.
 
Totally agreed with Nick Knight,if you keep the ball away from the ropes,that should be enough.

Eh? He got a few fifties against Aus in 09, got an 80 and a 100 against Asif and Amir in the summer, got an 80 and a 100 in Oz in the winter, and he is producing the goods again here.

He doesn't seem to 'get' LOI cricket but in test cricket he is a must, been keeping very well for a couple of years and test batting average is 44, at a healthy strike rate too. above average I'd say!
 
i saw prior's century in ashes-dat was a good knock !!!btw,at 327/6, dilshan must be feeling like a idiot post 22/3.

I totally agree- a really good keeper and batsman.

He is much better then the likes of: Davies, Keiswetter.
 
Moves to 73 off 83 with consecutive cover drives for 4.

First was booming, the other was beautifully placed with soft hands.

Love Prior (in tests). A very good all-rounder.

I would like to see him bat at #6 for us, and get Bres or maybe Rashid in at #7 and play five bowlers.

COP: I'd have taken 342 runs after being put in and reduced to 22/3 if I were Strausser.

always better to have runs on the board in this situation.
 
Why is everyone getting so excited, this bowling attack is probably the worst ever in World Cricket (in test matches) out of the top associate teams..
 
420 would be ideal but 450 would be lovely.

Either way, confident our bowlers can do the business.
 
england by miles and miles the best test team in world.
some people argue that these england players will struggle at sub continent but now they also have swanny and run machines in form of cook,trott,bell and morgan who will kill bowlers on flat tracks.

It was a slow track and their medium pacers didn't come onto the bat. But England still got 342.

Tomorrow our tall guys might get whacked on the up - depends on what kind of bounce they can get.
 
@Robert dilhara and lakmal were no medium pacers for sure more like fast-medium. dilhara was teetering into the fast category. its another thing fernando was not that good.
 
88 overs in da day was shocking but good innings run-rate & the bounce did seem low for a 1st day pitch . Another 75 runs & eng should be damn pleased .
 
I'm hoping that Prior can complete his century this morning.

Looks overcast - the ball is going to swing. Dernbach might have been more use than Finn today.
 
Losing 3 main bowlers has made Lanka look like the weakest bowling attack in the world these days.

Not very good planning by the board, should have tried to at least persuade Murali or Vaas to make this tour.

But I do agree the the board should have persuaded Vaas, look how well he is doing in the English county season.

How long can they keep relying on Vaas and Murali? How long can they play? They will have to get used to life without them.
 
Vaas is past it now I'm afraid. His 75mph dobblers are no good against international batsmen, he's playing Div 2 cricket, not exactly the highest standard.

This is why Bopara shouldn't be picked for England, he plays against Div 2 attacks, when he comes up against someone good he gets exposed.
 
Busy today but hoping for 450 all out and Sri Lanka 150-7 by the close.

Strauss, Cook, KP, Morgan and Finn also play Div 2 cricket.
 
Prior getting chance after chance to make 100 :p

He's done it now excellent innings. Fast aggressive stuff from Prior.
 
Poor fielding from Sri lanka, Broad gets his 50 and Prior gets his 100, He has had his fair share of luck but good innings overall.
